Seems like good value. Never driven one before though

    • +1

So how do you know if its good value?

      • -2

how do you know that’s what he said if words don’t mean thing

  • ..Does it not come with a cable by default?

    • Doesnt seem like it, since they are offering it in the pre order promo.

    • +5

No BEV/PHEV comes with cable by default, they may come with a granny charger by default. The cable is to use on untethered charger. Untethered chargers are typically public AC chargers, though you can buy one to install at your house. Why public, is because of vandalism. People break or even cut charging cable from public chargers for copper. For home usage, a tethered charger is typically cheaper than untethered + cable and you don't need to open your boot/froot to get the cable.

      • Huh. Fair enough.

      • BYD comes with granny charger and portable charging cable (Mode 2). Not sure how long that cable is.

      • +1

I bought a Leapmotor C10 BEV and it came with both the granny charging cable (for GPO plug) and Mode 2 charging cable (I think it's 5m?)

So up to $565.89 fortnightly payment with a drive away of $39,222

  • +1

Orders before 30/09 is also still eligible for the $1000 off offer.

  • No towbar?

    • +1

at the moment, no - TBA. Still in development

the CDF skills of marketing of all manners of goods baffles me….. or do they use the crappiest AI they can find?
I have no problem with paint shades like arctic white (not one of the offerings here)
but where the H*** do they get polar black from?
google shows me they're not the only boofheads to come up with this, to my dismay

    • +2

of all the things to have a break down over today this seems like a stretch

      • -7

Fair enough…. you don't understand the meaning of english words too well, so not an issue for you.
Please go back forwards to your quarters and resume your education.

        • gatekeeper of the english language

          good for you buddy

          • -2

            @eddyah: Yeah…sorry
I'm accustomed to using words according to their meaning….
Do you have a different model? Speak in code sort of thing?

            • @rooster7777: I read every word/sentence and interpret meaning, without too much care for grammar / spelling etc.

Probably due to being raised in an english as a second language household

        • +4

keep yelling at the cloud dad

        • "Please go back forwards to your quarters and resume your education"?

Even if "forwards" is a typo, why would you say "back towards your quarters", the word "towards" is redundant.

Please don't attempt to school others in English or typing.

polar black, black ice…its a slight blue

      • -2

I've never been to either pole, so I may have to stand corrected…. I though all polar snow and ice is white, but if you reckon that's not so I accept I'm wrong.

        • +2

I though all polar snow and ice is white,

          Sometimes it's yellow.

Pro tip: don't eat the yellow snow.

        • +1

So you are okay with it being some sort of black, just not the way they describe it?
Apparently, the "polar" refers to the actual colour of the skin of Polar bears, (which is black).
An Indonesian Tile manufacturer also uses the term, "Polar Black" series.

    • +2

Maybe you didn't know this, but polar bears are black with white fur. May need to look into resuming your education.

Car looks a lot better than the EX5. If you don't need a 7 seater PHEV like the Tiggo 8 Super Hybrid, I would pick this Starray over the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid.

    • +1

It still suffers from the big empty paddock that is the front non-grill. And whatever the hell that insipid logo is with the squares. Everything else looks nice.

      • +3

I agree. A giant BMW-sized grill on the front to trap stray magpies while driving would be better.

  • I'm still failing to figure out the advantages of having a plugin hybrid over a traditional hybrid like RAV4 or a BEV like Model Y for a typical Aussie family.

    • +2

      We've got a Sealion 6 PHEV.
Makes perfect sense for us, Plug it in everyday when at home.

Then on road trips put fuel in it. No need to worry about what charge location we want to go to, how many kW it provides, what cable we need to bring, if it's out of commission or too busy.

      • True but how often do you go road trips that are like more than 500 km each way? If you do many of them per week, makes sense. Otherwise why not a model y that you can charge at your destination? Again, I could be oversimplifying things…

        • Out of town enough times a year to justify it. And also, it's a convenience thing.
It's easier to not think about all of the above, especially for the wife who's not as technically inclined when she's doing the driving out of town.

Charging (Fast) at destination is not available for much of regional WA.
So, for us, we picked a car to suit our needs, instead of adapting our trip to suit the car.

For a city runabout we're definitely eyeing an EV next :D

          • @noicegarry: You won't need to charge at destination if each leg is less than 200 KMs. For most people I know, that's the case so they can all charge at home. For me personally, an EV with 400 to 500 KM realistic range makes much more sense because I don't travel too far from the city on weekends and anything further than 300 KM I'd rather fly.

    • Charge daily on pure EV, road trips on the weekend without range anxiety.

EV is prefect in stop and go traffic, ICE takes over on open road.

Tradition hybrid can only drive on electricity for a very short distance.

      • Weekend road trips are further than 400 km both ways?

        • 400km is not even far. I know many people do 600km day trips.

I have done 1,000km day trips many times.

          • @browser: Would not be a diesel more economical in that case?

            • +1

@Rimas: But short daily trips is bad for diesel.

Back to the whole point of PHEV, pure EV in the weekdays, big miles in the weekends.

              • @browser: I agree. If you do occasional super long road trips, need towing And don't have a second ICE car, then PHEV is your best bet. If you have an ICE weekend hauler, then go full EV. If you can't charge at home/work e.g. an apartment and are mostly in city and take occasional road trips, then a conventional hybrid is your best bet.

    • +2

Best of both worlds. The Super Hybrids, work like regular hybrids. They charge the battery's thru regen and usual driving so extends the battery range.

      • "Best of both worlds" is relative, can also be "worst of both worlds".

As the car carries all the ICE components, and all the EV components, great when new, but more things can go wrong in the long term, and more things require maintenance, and average garage may not have the skill or equipment to work on them.

Not saying don't get a PHEV, just consider all the facts.

        • +1

best of both worlds if you need both, worst of both worlds if you don't. seems straight forward

      • For someone who can charge at home, the PHEV's "best of both worlds" can become "the worst of both worlds." You pay a premium for the battery and electric components, but you also have the maintenance, complexity, and emissions of a ICE engine. If you're consistently using the electric range for your daily driving, the ICE engine becomes a redundant and expensive piece of hardware that you rarely use, but still have to maintain.

    • +2

Similar to other comments - we have an Outlander PHEV and live in regional Victoria.
During the week, usually I will charge it 2 - 3 times and travel on electric charge for running around.
I drive further a lot. I have friends and relatives in regional areas, and it is easy to drive 600 - 800km in a weekend.
There is no way to rely on charging regionally. It is terrible. Often not functioning. I had a friend who got stuck in Mansfield overnight because the only fast charger was broken.
Further, the driving experience with the PHEV is very responsive - instant torque and then the engine takes over - that's probably the thing I like most.

  • Best to test drive it. If the EX5 is anything to go by the suspension will be crazy unsettling. Rear passengers could get car sick.

    • I have an EX5. yes in the first few weeks it was too bouncy but over time the suspension has settled and is quite good. Had heard a mention that by the 3k KMS mark, the suspension usually settles down with new cars. Hope this helps.

  • Worth paying the extra money for the Inspire model. Some extra features over the base model (not listed in the build/price page):
    Auto-dimming mirror
    Power tailgate
    256 Colour Dynamic Ambient Lighting
    15w wireless charging

    • +2

Weird - most of the extras you listed wouldnt get me excited (maybe power tailgate) BUT it comes with a panoramic sunroof, HUD, larger alloys, front parking sensors and ventilated seats which i think people maybe DO care about….seems like a no brainer for $2.5k

  • Great offer, between the EX5 & Starray, you're looking at OEM & Car of the Year contenders — the value for money is exceptional

  • -1

Anyone required any after support from geely? Are they a bad as other Chinese brands?

    • Based on feedback on the FB groups for EX5, the After Support has been good and responsive.

    • their after sales & support via Geely app has been second to none

  • Maybe I'm a bit thick today, but shouldn't they give the 3 free servicing regardless if you take the finance offer or not? What am I missing here?

    • the interest rate is subvented by Geely, the delta they fund is either discount rate OR service plan

  • +1

Loving it! ( the competition )

  • -3

All of these new Chinese releases get discounted after 2-3 months, or even less. HODL.

  • -2

What's this car worth after 3 years? A bucket of chips?

    • +1

Is that a bucket of bolts I see you driving?
