Crazy good deal when you pay with 10% off gift cards on top!

    • +7

Just be careful whether the Rebel Active promos exclude the use of Gift Cards - I have been caught out by this in the past.

      • Thanks for sharing. when reading their T&C, I thought that only the purchase of gift cards, rather than purchases made with gift cards, is excluded!

      • Is this true? I cannot see any mention of excluding payment by gift cards. Only for purchasing gift cards.

      • Anyone had any luck placing an order using a gift card and getting both the $60 and Active credits?

        • I will find out in a day's time - hopefully

        • +5

Paid with Rebel eGift card online last night and picked up this morning - got the $60 credit & $20 points in account after the pick up

I’m heading overseas in 6 weeks and didn’t think about TRS, thanks for the reminder!

      • Curious what was the comment about TRS? :)

        • +1

Just use TCN cards and claim TRS refund when heading overseas at the airport.

          • @BennyHe2018: Can you please explain or point me to a comment or page with additional information on this?

            • @seafades: Yes pls, where to get discounted tcn cards?

        • +5

If you’re travelling overseas within the next 60 days, you can claim a GST refund on purchases over $300 AUD under the TRS. Since the AirPods Pro 3 are $429, you’d be eligible to get $39 back. Based on my understanding, when you return to Australia, the product is treated as duty free and counts toward your $900 duty free allowance. Because the AirPods are under that threshold, you wouldn’t need to pay GST on re-entry. I haven’t done it myself, but others might be able to share their experiences.

          • +1

@7uk3: Spot on. Duty free allowance can also be “pooled” if travelling with others - $900 per adult, $450 per child

            • @ATreeFiddy: Great that I have understood the rules, and saw that you can pool. Do you still need to declare it upon re-entry? My understanding is no since it’s under the limit, is that right?

              • +1

                @7uk3: Correct

              • +1

@7uk3: You still have to declare it, although I wonder whether people actually do it.

                https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

"If you bring goods back into Australia for which a GST refund via the TRS has been claimed, the goods must be declared. If their total value (combined with any other overseas or /duty free purchases) exceeds the passenger concession allowance, you may need to pay any applicable GST and/or duty."

                • @DuckySpends: I did see that, but the Incoming Passenger Card seems to add to the confusion, saying you only need to declare over $900.

“Goods obtained overseas or purchased duty and/or tax free in Australia with a combined total price of more than AUD$900, including gifts?”

I might just declare, better to be safe than be flagged every time in future! Thanks for mentioning it.

Sort of hoping that Amazon do what they did with the Pro 2's and have them around $319 for a few days post launch. Def keeping an eye on them.

    • +1

Bought mine then as well (was actually their preorder price) roughly 20% off AirPods seems to be a fairly regular discount, even with new releases, so with the new rrp we should expect ~$350 deals fairly soon

  • great deal if you're looking to buy other stuff from rebel with the $60 credit, but I'm the same as above, looking for an actual discount… maybe Amazon prime deals in October…

  • +1

just HODL…. Ebay/Amazon will pull their trigger next time.

  • You reckon you get the same deal if you buy in store?

    • Yes, but not all stores stock the items, Rebel Wollongong told me to just buy online or buy in Miranda. 45 mins away.

  • +4

wait for ebay black friday. possibly <$300

    • +1

This is the way. If the deal is good enough might even make me upgrade from my pro 2s even though they perform really well for me

      • your money your say but man diabolical to upgrade from pro 2 to the 3 if you don't use live translation.

        • +1

Well the pro 2s have live translation as well haha. But yeah it'd be basically for the better ANC and audio performance, slight battery life improvement and UWB upgrade for the future when I eventually get an iPhone 17 series or higher

        • I upgraded from Pro 1 to Pro 2, huge difference in terms of audio quality and ANC.

Pro 3 is supposed to have 2x the NC capability + heart rate monitor.

    • -1

I sure hope so, that 28 degrees price protection hit gonna be nice

    • +5

You are kidding yourself, give it at least 12 months to go under $300

      • +1

check the price history of AirPods Pro 2 USB-C launched in late 2023 😇

        • -1

Yeah AirPods 2 were cheaper on release. How about you PM when it goes under $300 before 12 months runs out. I can guarantee that they won’t

    • +4

Well it only came out today so yes normal RRP.

      • wow ok crickey thats a lot

        • +2

The previous ones would have been $399 RRP, but rarely sold at RRP?

    • +1

Where have you been lately son. Samsung Galaxy Pro buds were like $420 before.

      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-buds3-pro-…

      • -4

like i said, i have never bought bluetooth wireless headphones, i still plug my headset into my usb c adapter.

        • -1

You also need an iPhone to use the Live Translation feature on these AirPods Pro, so another $1399 (but I guess you could get iPhone 16e which is cheaper).

      • i bought myn for $200, no one normal pays that RRP

      • +9

I downvoted him. Here are my reasons why:

        • Apple AirPods have always been quality and good value.
        • Wireless earphones from Android manufacturers can cost just as high.
        • Apple EarPods, their wired line only costs $30. Can you find me an Android manufacturer that has a cheaper product?

Thus his opinion is objectively misleading, not to mention it's an opinion on a category of product he has never been in the market for. I do not identify as an Apple fanboy when downvoting him. If anything, I would be classified as Pixel fanboy.

        • My phone is a Google Pixel Pro.
        • My laptop is a Microsoft Surface Pro.
        • My headphone is an Apple EarPod.
        • My washing machine is a Samsung.

But sure, keep up your pathetic tribalism over brands.

        • -8

bro, you have too much time on your hands, relax

    • Wireless earphones from Android manufacturers can cost just as high. And Apple's wired earphones are only $30. Find me a cheaper wired earphones sold by Samsung or Google. Apple are objectively good value in this space.

      • -1

They can cost just as high but there are also a metric ton of cheaper alternatives that are just as good and better value for most people. The market is huge for wireless earbuds (outside of Apple). Not saying they are better value for Apple users though.

        • I agree but the person I replied to identified themselves as an Android user, thus comparing Apple to Samsung and Google. The alternatives you speak of are from other brands.

    • -2

The cost of wireless buds is out of control now. I only buy Sony ones and I swear they go up a $100 or more every release.

I hope my xm4 buds don't die anytime soon.

      • -1

why not use a usb adapter and use your wired headphones?

        • It's 2025.

          • @Randolph Duke: correct, why are you listing the year for?

            • @sandman20104159: Who wants to deal with wires. Outside of audiophiles (and I've spent plenty of money on wired IEM's in the past), wireless is way more convenient.

              • +1

@Randolph Duke: is it really? having to charge them all the time, loosing them… yeah no thanks. nothing wrong with wires. i have a wired keyboard and mouse on my PC at work and home, never have to worry about batteries. just because "apple" and sumsung force users to use wirless bluetooth doesnt mean you have to follow. only time i use bluetooth is in the car and thats only because my car doesnt have android auto and if it did i would plug the usb in to use it. i was more cuirous as to why but seems like you are a sheeple… following what companies force you to do.

                • -1

                  @sandman20104159:

                  is it really?

                  Yes.

i have a wired keyboard and mouse on my PC at work and home,

Hardly a like for like comparison.

"apple" and sumsung force users to use wirless bluetooth

They don't force anyone - wired USB-C headphones exist, as do USB-C to 3.5mm adaptors

i was more cuirous as to why

Because wires get caught on things & get in the way, wires break/snap eventually, wired headphones rarely have any of the auto pause functionality etc, and if they have ANC it's no where near as good as the market leaders in the wireless space.

                  like you are a sheeple

You've never used them I'll take your opinion with a grain of salt.

                  • -2

@Randolph Duke: i have used bluetooth a few times, but i find they have issues connecting all the time and batteries run flat tooo fast. i use a usb to 3.5mm already on my samsung s25 with the same headphones they gave me with my s10. i guess i look after them better as i am not a sheeple. ps. im not asking you to change, i was just asking why you dont use wired. you answered it and thats it. done.

    • +1

Thank you for your stream of consciousness.

  • -2

You need a new iPhone 17 to get the full features of this headphones. Something quirk with the UWB

    • +1

I think that only applies to precision finding.

    • In the terms and conditions:

Credit will be forfeited if eligible purchases are returned

      • I kind of have to admire the drive some users have to try and find / abuse loopholes or other tricks

  • +7

Just received mine (no discounts, I know hand in my ozb card!) and they are really, really good. Noise suppression is IMHO better than my Sony XM6 over ears, and sound quality is equivalent or better, again IMHO and you are talking in ear vs over ear, so it's not apples to apples. VERY impressed.

    • Can you sleep on your side with them on? Apparently they stick out more than the pro 2s

    • I just got mine, only got to opening the box - replacing original AirPod pro that have the crackling issue. U got me mega excited hope it lives up to hype

      • Didn't think anyone else was still using the OG APP's, also had the crackling issue but been using AP4 ANC's since. Let us know how the APP3's are, as I'm probably going to get one when I can TRS it.

        • Originally had intended to just run them till they absolutely died - I mean they r still working kind of. The battery is also really bad on them now - also glad to be 1 step closer to pissing off the last of the lightning cable devices in my home

        • Don’t you have to pay it back when returning into Australia?

EDIT: sounds like if you stay under duty free allowance ie $900 then you don’t need to pay it back

          • @dlcx: You can also share duty free allowance, so you can claim an iphone with 2 pax.

    • +1

Dude…c'mon. I was perfectly content with my Pro2s until reading this. Now I have to get the 3s after your review. You should get a sales job at Apple.

    • You are right, these ARE impressive 10/10 recommend - and I prefer these over my usual xm5 Sony overears

  • No stock at mine

  • Costco has them for $389.99 in store

  • Good discount but that the $81 expire after 30 days is kind of a deal breaker. Not sure what to get and at the end you spend the RRP by getting shit you don't need right now

    • Could be good if ur after stuff that doesn’t go on sale eg yeti bottles. Or use it for another set of app 3 and resell it for a small discount maybe

  • +1

      • Tick of the box.

  • Stack with Commbank YELLO $10 Off!

    • I have $15 for a $100 spend

  • damn.. how much can i sell my Airpods pro 2s for ..

    • +1

With the insane amount of APP2 fakes on marketplace, probably not a whole lot. Too risky for anyone buying them.

  • Thanks for this. I had no idea that Rebel sells AirPods.

    • next you'll be shocked that the sportswear retailer sells smartwatches!

  • Well I ordered and got a “shipped” notification about 5 minutes later. Not sure if I quite believe that haha!

  • These inflated price are the new normal?

  • -1

Wow, people really paying that much for earphones these days?

  • Good deal! Anyone tested if that can stack with paying gift cards? Thanks

  • 81 credit plus 39 from trs. 120 buxs off is not bad. Even if it goes sub 350, I’m not gonna be at loss. Not sure what to buy from rebel tho.
