ISPs Currently Offering nbn 2000Mbps Speeds?

I have HFC at my premises, and I've checked my address at every NBN provider I could find, so far the only ones I've found offering the HFC maximum speed of 2000/100 are:

  • $145/month for 6 months - Superloop
  • $155/month for 12 months - Leaptel
  • $160/month for 6 months - Tangerine
  • $169/month for 6 months - Aussie Broadband

Does anyone know any other providers offering the 2000/100 HFC plan?

I'm currently on month 2 of 6 with Superloop on their 1000/100 at $68/month ($85/month for 6 months & $100 cashback)

I'm not seeing any better pricing with any other NBN provider for my current plan, and paying at extra $60 to $84 for an extra 1000Mbps download speed just doesn't seem worth it.

  • it's priced that way on purpose, most people don't need it, and it requires a hardware upgrade so they're not rushing to encourage people.

If you can make use of the bandwidth then less than double the cost for double the speed is pretty reasonable.

    • More to the point….

The way I read the notifciations:

Everyone on NBN 100 with a HFC or FTTP connection gets a free upgrade to NBN 500.

But even then, one needs to check if thier current router can handle NBN 500.

If they have a Gigabyte router (1000Mbps) then YES!

I would say this move by NBN is in response to Gigacomm rolling out thier new network promising much higher speeds and reliability at much lower prices:

      100Mbps - $65
      500Mbps - $79
      1000Mbps - $99
      2000Mbps - $199

      See here: https://www.gigacomm.net.au/s/

Consider that most ISPs are now charging at least $65 for NBN25 so for those on FTTC, changing to Gigacomm 100 for the same price is a no brainer.

Lets see if those of us on FTTC get the free upgrade to NBN100 in due course ????

      • Gigabyte gigabit

      • But even then, one needs to check if thier current router can handle NBN 500.

When you said that above, how do you usually check that

For example if on nbn 500 and run a speed test it got 492Mbps

Is it likely the current router can handle it

I'm not seeing any better pricing with any other NBN provider for my current plan, and paying at extra $60 to $84 for an extra 1000Mbps upload speed just doesn't seem worth it.

Not sure what you're saying here. Upload speeds? Did you mean extra 100 upload? You can't get 200 on HFC. HFC is limited to 2000/100 currently.

Stay 1000/100, your plan/price is great.

As someone with a UCG fiber, 2.5gbe ports, and a u7 pro wall - I don't really see the point beyond gigabit generally for internet speeds - that's even with my eyepatch on.

    • The service would go from 1000/100 to 2000/100 at the prices I advised.

      • Ya but your original post said upload so I wasn't sure if you meant '100' upload (getting 200 up total) or if it was supposed to be download, which has since been corrected to DL, all good!

        • I'm still not following what you mean

"and paying at extra $60 to $84 for an extra 1000Mbps download speed"

          Is that what you're referencing?

@dna level c: Yeah but your original post had upload, not download. Go check revisions/my quote lol. Someone else updated it for you XD

@ReaperX22: "Someone else updated it for you XD"

lol, no wonder I'm like "what the heck?"

          • @dna level c: You originally wrote 1000Mbps upload.

ReaperX22 wasn't sure if you meant an extra 100Mbps upload to total 200Mbps.

There is a difference in upload speed between HFC 2000/100 and FTTP 2000/200 and it's the same price.

What colours does it come in?

      • rainbow

Black for HFC and white for FTTP. No RGB.

  • Carbon Comms is $150 ongoing for 2000/100. . Top contender for me once my Arctel $50 500/50 deal lapses.

Neptune Internet $175/month ongoing (includes a Static IP, WireGuard VPN server, DNS Filter).

Launtel $8/day or about $240/month. You can change speeds daily if you don't want to pay the monthly cost.

  • AGL is $ 149 with agl energy or $164 without agl energy https://www.agl.com.au/residential/nbn-plans?cidi=AGL-B10029…

Southern phone is $149 also https://www.southernphone.com.au/personal/broadband/nbn-broa…

I think Leaptel is best if you wanna stay for more than 1 month (as they are cheap and easy pro rata cancellations after 1 month)

That being said aussie broadband is cheapest if you just wanna like upgrade the ntd box, as they dont force you to stick to 1Gb plan until upgrade (unlike leaptel), and they do pro rata cancellations within first month too.

    • who does agl resell?

      • seems to me like Southern Phone is the wholeseller (the name that comes on speedtest.net)

        • It's owned by AGL.
