  • Last time I checked they are selling Telstra prepaid. Now it’s downgrading to Boost?

    • +1

They had both in fact. Telstra $350 for $300 plus $35 gift card.

      • Telstra sim is $269 plus $35 gift card at Ringwood today

    • +1

Basically the same. I have one on each network.

Service complaints for Boost is Telstra….

Telstra gave me a couple of months complimentary service… but they applied it to my boost number. So even they don't know .

      • i think the Telstra one gives you access to Telstra plus benefits?

        • +3

I've got Telstra plus with my Boost service…

Again, I don't think they know which is which.

  • +1

The activation date is too close.

    • +1

I believe activation by 6th October is for additional data of 60GB along with 240GB, so totally 300GB. Activation after that you receive data of 240GB.

    • maybe the activation date is just for bonus data?
I believe you can still activate after 6th Oct, just without bonus data (240GB)

  • presumably existing customers need to port out then in again?

    Would Officeworks price match this?

    • +1

The T&Cs exclude paid membership based pricing.

      • even if the did, they don't give you the $30 gc. Also it's not online so how would you prove the price?

    • Try your luck. Been successful in the past but you won’t get the gift card

      • -1

If you don’t get the GC, can’t they issue in store as a work around? They are liable ultimately.

  • Black Friday soon, hope there will be Boost deals.

  • Is the telstra $350 sim on a better network than boost or are they both the same

    • Boost is speed capped

    • +2

      My experience is that Telstra_Postpaid > Telstra_Prepaid > Boost.
Yes, they're all on the same network but when it comes down to it, at busy/congested periods when a lot of people on these 3 SIMs are all together, then Boost will be first to lose access to data, followed by Prepaid… Postpaids get highest data priority.
Noticed this especially on those train-delay days where we're packed like sardines, and those blackspots around inner west (Lewisham-Burwood) which are already dodgy for reception, give nil data for Boost & Prepaid. Just have to put the phone down and watch others surfing still, or the scenery.
I used to be religiously on Boost but when cheap Prepaid came along I hopped over and was happier… until I noticed Prepaids getting stuffed-for-data as well. Granted, those others who were still getting data may be Optus/Voda but my conspiracy theory makes me feel better.
I've tried looking in Terms/CIS about this but haven't found anything… I mean, if they specifically state this data-priority thing then I'd accept that, "okay, that's the price vs benefit trade-off", but I haven't found it anywhere.
Anyone else on Prepaid/Boost experienced same? Or am I going crazy?

      • +2

I haven't tried Telstra postpaid, but like you, have been a religious Boost customer for years now and the experience is the same. I would even say, it used to be better few years ago, but offlate, I can see Boost loosing signal often. There are specific patches along the train line - Seven Hills to Westmead (data drops on and off), Lidcombe to Strathfield (same data issue) [Homebush/Strathfield is the worst of all] and couple of stations before Redfern and until then.

Coming to options - I specifically tried monthly prepaid sims from Amaysim, Coles Mobile, Aldi Mobile and Voda and my experience with them, especially browsing in teh train has been the same, especially around the patches I have mentioned above. Hence I came to the conclusion that irrespective, they all behave the same. Telstra postpaid is yet to be tested!

  • Is it for new number or can this be use for recharge ?
Do we have to move to new service then move back to Boost to take advantage of this ?
Sorry I'm not very familiar with this.
