    30-day cancellation policy applies.

imagine how hard it will be with TPG when its a PIA with Superloop

    • +6

So these aren’t enforceable by consumer law but they can still try and hope you don’t complain?

      • It's entirely enforcble to have a cancellation policy.

        • -1

ACL states they can't charge for a service they don't provide.

          • +1

@Far Cough: You still get the service for the next 30 days after notifying them.

            • +7

@CaptainHoltisDad: Not if you already ported out?

              • @wildstone: Someone here said he/she got refunded. The superloop chatbot said they could. I guess we need to take the risk to find out more.

                • @bcYield: The chatbot just allocates a day in 30 days: if you want it earlier you need to call up

          • @Far Cough: I'm well versed in ACL.

The only possible thing it could run afoul of is an unfair contract term. However, it would be unlikely to meet the significant imbalance threshold to make it unfair.

        • yes, it is

        • -1

Yup, I asked them to refund (was unaware, as I didnt read the terms and conditions) for the service I didnt use, and it was denied. I issued a chargeback using my bank and now I receive threatening messages/emails from InCredit. Not sure of the worst case scenario here, but just feels wrong to pay for a service that I was paying twice for. Well, I complained to ombudsman and ACCC. They registered it, but no action.
If this scammy terms and condition is successfully enforced, we will soon be paying for electricity and gas as well in a very similar fashion.

    • That sucks

    • +1

      What does that mean

      • +1

When cancelling, you need to give them 30 days notice.

    • I have opticomm FTTP i am with superloop now on a 1000/100mbps plan 85 bucks a month.

for those that are wondering superloop is exotel.

    • +2

I just recently cancelled my HFC NBN with TPG.
Given them 30 day notice. They tried to charge my credit card close to the end of the 30 days period.
I rang and asked for an explanation. The operator said it is cost for cancellation and later said she will "waive" it.
I lodged a complaint with TIO. It's outright scam.

    • Dunno what you're saying, +1 for the username

    • Make sure you don't call during the off-shore call center, call at weekday 9 am.

    • I’d just send them an email and then port out 30 days later. Will be a nice conversation for them with the ombudsman if they give me a hard time about paying the invoice

  • +8

I was really hoping to see more providers offer $80 per month ongoing like exetel, but it's not really happening.

I'm suspect they will jack up the price after luring a bunch of customers with cheap prices, like they did in the past

    • +2

Buddy Telco - $80 for 3 months, then $85 ongoing.

    • +2

well my superloop 89.99 1000mbps is ending in december, if i dont see a good deal im going excetel

    • +4

Neptune is $85 a month with Static IP ongoing

    • +3

This is fine, I'm happy tor churn every 6 months to pay less. For everyone else there's Exetel

    • +2

      Carbon Comms.

    • nbn has historically encouraged this with 6 month discounts on wholesale pricing to RSPs for new customer acquisitions, even if they came from another RSP and were an existing nbn customer.

I haven't looked at the WBAs for a while now, but given the discounting structures remain the same with so many plans still offering discounts for the first 6 months

      • Don't know why NBN would do that, I can see it as an incentive for RSP's and new customers, but in the end NBN don't gain anything out of it?

        • people may try higher speeds due to the 6 months discount, and at the end, the user can't tolerate a slower speed.

    • The prices have all been jacked following the speed increases. Must be great for low income earners that the cheapest ongoing nbn plans going are basically $90 a month now.

      • Many ISPs kept the same monthly cost. You can get 25/10 $55/m ongoing.

  • is there a way to add a phone service if I BYO modem?

    • Home phone you mean? Just ask them to add one. Pay As Go or $10/m unlimited.

    • +2

Last time I checked, they still locked their voip services to their hardware and refused to give out the sip credentials.

      • It took weeks for them to send out my number only until I called.

    • +1

Go with someone like Siptalk for VoIP. You may need a VoIP adapter or IP phone handset.

  • +5

excetel has the best one set fee price, 80 per month, no 6 month bullshit

    • +2

With CGNAT which is the only downside

      • which ones don't use CGNAT?

      • Exetel business plan can be had for $89 fot 18 months. No CGNAT.

        • What are the downsides to CGNAT?

Personally I need to port forward so that's why I don't want it, but why would others care?

    • +6

switching 6 months takes 10 mins of my time and i got $140 cashback over the past year

      • How much downtime between switching? I haven't had any issues with internet over the past 4 years with Future Broadband and reading up on the Arctel deal heaps of ppl had disconnection issues so would rather stable internet over saving dollars (you get what you pay for)

        • no downtime, NBN is seamless. I heard sometimes they might need you to change ports but thats about it.

The only issue i had to skirt a bit around was Superloop/Exetel's 30 day policy but even thats not too bad because I just cancel 30 days and set the other plan to be set up 30 days later, since I am signing up online for the cashback its not much effort

You do have to call them up to cancel though.

(Fyi apparently you can bypass their 30 day policy by stating ACCC laws or something, if you google it reddit should have a thread. I dont have the time or energy to do this so I just work around it, its not that bad)

  • Can you get the FTTP upgrade from them, but leave after 6 months too without repaying the FTTP upgrade fee?

    • +1

Just churn to another cheaper provider after 6 months.

    • Can you get the FTTP upgrade from them

I feel like it would be better to use one of the providers with ok customer like Superloop, Launtel, ABB when doing that..

  • +3

I called them up during my shopping around and when they couldn't do an offer close to my current Origin one, I said Dodo was winning next and somehow they tried to tell me $64.99 was beating $62.99 lol. Then TCB $100 cashback made it no contest anyway.

    • Damn.. you call ISP’s around to negotiate the best deal? That is next level mate. I only do that when I buy a new car but kudos to you

      • hehe not that many, only 2 or 3 tops really; like the current one (whom they didn't even bother trying to keep me), and 1 or 2 of any which are "close" to the price, so not like any of the ones Twix posted, starting point too high.

Most of it is just on hold anyway :P

  • Is there a way to schedule the connection for a future date? I can’t seem to find it until the payment page.

  • +13

TPG NBN?? Worst service ever; customer support is absolutely terrible.

    • +10

Yep, I've spent hours and hours on the most ridiculously simple problems with their "support".
The operators don't pay any attention to what has already been tried and won't listen.

      • +1

Well, they have a script to read so don’t confuse them with telling them what the actual problem is. Just listen and keep restarting and resetting the modem as you are told.

    • +2

I was on TPG and their international routing is shit. Connecting to Japan , it jumped from Syd to LA across the pacific ocean back to Japan

  • +20

what a joke. I have been with TPG for over 10 years and they couldn't even offer this price for my 50 speed connection. But if you're a new customer, we'll give you 10x the speed for cheaper. I left them a few weeks ago for something much much better! Buyer beware…

    • +11

The real question is why you stayed with them for over 10 years?

      • +2

I was with TPG for four years, but the moment I had constant internet dropouts it turned into a nightmare. Support was absolutely useless; long queues, more frustrating calls, and every single time I was forced through multiple lengthy ID checks with each person I got transferred to, then had to re-explain the same issue over and over, from the frontline agents who seemed to have no clue about internet dropouts to the so-called “technicians” who didn’t help either. They dragged it out for weeks with pointless NBN and TPG tech visits that fixed nothing. The fault was on their end, proven when I switched ISPs and everything worked instantly. Ticket numbers meant nothing, and even getting my refund took two months and more painful follow-ups. Worst service I’ve ever dealt with.

        • -1

What about the other 6 years?

          • +4

@reloxation: There's 2 different neg voters in this thread. The one you replied to had the service for 4 years, not 10.

            • @Domingo: Lol, thanks Domingo. Need to stop OzBargaining when I just wake up 😝

    • Who did you switch to? I wouldn't mind switching to get better value. $85 seems too much for 50/20.

      • Aussie Broadband

    • +3

We are in 2025 you still get frustrated with brand loyalty? Come on now.

  • I switched the other day for this deal, phone call because the plan selected online said SL100 even though that is the 500mb speed plan. But TPG rep helpful and connected the following day.
Saw the same 30 notice period with previous provider and thought now I’ve done it. Rang them and told them I had already given notice, the guy asked if I’d signed up with someone else and then asked his supervisor, they disconnected me following day, not 30 days notice.
Thanks for heads up with TPG will be sure to give notice!
Speed is good and consistent so far. See how we go.

  • +2

TPG fibre woeful. Don’t be lured in by the cheaper pricing, you’ll get what you pay for. Crazy amount of drop outs and really poor stability issues

    • How is that? Does TPG own the fibre? I thought it's a general structural thing. Doesn't sound right as if you have dropouts with TPG, churning over to another company will still give you ongoing dropouts.

  • +1

Been on FTTP for a few years with TPG, no issues.

  • When you change providers, do you have to cancel your existing service or does it just automatically terminate?

    • On my FTTP, you have to cancel first or else you will end up with two separate nbn services on two different ports.

  • With all these intro deals has anyone put together a spreadsheet to compare and look at the different value?

    • +3

      sounds like you just volunteered

  • Good to see they have switched to ipoe. Used to have annoying vlan tags

  • If port out then port in, would it be a new customer?

    • Maybe call them and ask if they can match the offer

  • Of course they will only price match the main players, what a shame. If they'd match Arctel for the $50/mo, but for 12 months, I'd be there.

  • I am going to Exetel, 80/Mon, Non of this BS

  • +2

Negging for 30 day notice period. A business should not be inconveniencing/penalising users in such a way. ACCC should crack down on this, as it's also designed to stifle competition.

    • +1

      I agree with you.
I will stay away from any business who has this stupid requirement.

  • +1

i've heard nightmare stories of TPG exiting issues with 30days, but their mobile service has been good so it's hard to filter through what it true and what is not.

  • I just tried to put an order in, there is no way to put a commencement date on the service. Called them up (was very quick), but couldn't understand my address for three min (it is complicated). Assuming this is telling me not to sign up with them. YMMV.

    • but couldn't understand my address for three min

      Not aussie support?
