GSM Arena. Unfortunately no headphone jack.

    • +15

Headphone jacks are near extinction ☹️ . Surprisingly, this still gets a microSD card slot with 256GB storage.

      • +12

Jack will come back along with removable batteries.
Edit - Hey who negged me for stating a fact above haha.

        • +1

          I did , NEEEEEERRRRRRRD ⁉️😅

        • +9

OzBargain is a tough crowd :(

          • +2

@shxhshzhz: I tried standup here once, and they booed me off the site and threw Eneloops at me.

        • Tozo has entered the chat…. :)

    • +4

Sad. I love my headphone jack to use with my CCA CRA IEMs for cheap, hassle free* quality listening/ calls.

I've known the Edge series has dispensed with the jack for sometime though so haven't always gone a tier below.

      • hassle free excludes the 20- 120 seconds spend untangling the cord, from time to time.
      • +3

Just go to TEMU to get a $2 usb-c male to 3.5mm female adapter, and off you go, some Daiso have them too.

        • Why would you do that when usb c wired earphones exist?

        • Last time I checked there was a minimum spend on Temu, like $15

        • used one of those for some time and I got fed up and brought a phone with a 3.5mm jack. like charging my phone with wired plugged in, and the wired ones are harder to come loose

      • Headphone jacks are rare now unless you go ultra cheap boomer phone or ultra expensive gaming phone.
Get a cheap dongle if you use IEMs, apple dongle works on iphone/mac but has low volume on android phones.

        $15 JCALLY JM7
$20 UGREEN USB C to 3.5mm Audio Adapter
        $45 FiiO KA11

        • +2

Thanks. Yes I'm very much entrenched in the cheap boomer phone so I've never needed to bother. Mainly because I destroy phones too regularly from accidents, I've not gone above $200 for years. But good to keep the dongle in mind, although as @Nillionaire has pointed out, they make them with usb c connections now! It's nice to be behind the times and discover new things!

        • Also the FIIO Tiny A just being released , $22 USD, has DAC to 3.5mm headphone jack with passthrough USB C charging. Looks a bit more functional then a cabled USB Dongle DAC.

      • why not get a usb c wired earphone?

        • +1

I honestly didn't know usb c wired earphones existed!

But also I tend to get phones with the 3.5mm jack because I tend to get phones that are in the lower end of the market due to rough handling and accidents. I've always had a jack available so never needed to look for usb c earphones.

Having a quick look, it doesn't seem that the budget audiophile Chinese brands make usb-c earphones, yet.

Oh no, I stand corrected. Moondrop do.

          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006425171300.html

But maybe not at the $15 level.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up!

        • If you have a pair of 3.5mm headphones you really like, they also would work on planes as well with the right adaptor. Not so if it is USB C.

Need to get the India-exclusive Motorola Edge 60 Stylus for the headphone jack, or the nerfed and price-jacked global variant Moto G Stylus 2025.

      • Does the india exclusive ones have correct bands and NFC for Australia?

        • +1

          AFAIK yes - has 4g 28 and 5g n78, but no 4g 7 (should be minor?)

          • @xrailgun: Thanks. Where do you buy it from?

            • +1

@the1doood: Not sure… I've only seen it on Amazon India. No idea if they ship to Aus. Please try and let us know :D

    • +2

Yeah this phone ticked most of my requirements (SD card, battery life, waterproof), but sadly no jack. It's proven good to use

  • Why does the Zephy and Amazonite say 128GB storage on the heading? Although the description does say 256GB storage. Just worried choosing one of these colors will results in a 128GB version?

  • +8

I want it so bad…. but my Motorola 30 fusion is still going strong :'(

    • +4

Wait for the Edge 70 Fusion :)

      • You are right, ty ty

        • +1

I'm.on 50 fusion, would upgrade except for hassle of new biometric, logins, etc …

      • +1

        Edge 70? Pfft.

        That's so 2026.

        Edge 90 baby!

        • buy it celebrate australia net zero 2030 achievement if you can wait 5 years.

          • @garage sale: 2030, is that when the caps will melt and penguins will all die? Still waiting for that.

    • +6

If I wasn't so happy with my Edge 50 neo from a similar pricing drop this time last year, I'd bite too. Such a good phone for the money.

    • +2

Ditto, but I have a 20. Still running like new

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Needed a burner phone for my trip to HK.

    • +1

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a similar specced phone there?

      • +2

Need a phone to be working straight away with an overseas sim

        • +1

When do you go? Just heard there's a typhoon about to hit.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Had already hit and killed a few people by 3pm Sydney time.

        • E sim?

      • +4

No, there's 'Reasons' you take a burner phone into CN and HKSAR.

if you need the SIM, just get a HK eSIM account and download the HK eSIM before you travel.

Border/Customs Interception is a valid concern. As is preinstalled malware/bloatware.

        https://cybershack.com.au/consumer-advice/smartphones-made-f…

Phones sold in HKSAR, not just Mainland China can have manufacturer level malware/backdoors preinstalled now. Huawei/Xiaomi and some others are just mask-off unashamed. You might think it's evil - Clearly you are the kind of person the Ministry of Public Security wants to invite you to tea (interview/arrest)

This used to be limited to CN only versions of the phone, with CN specific carrier / 5G channels and so on, but the retail stores/corner stores will not have International ROM versions available in some stores/locations.

Web/Online delivery is an option if you want International ROM versions in HK, and, they'll often be cheaper than the retail stores. or come from the same location.

The majority of 'budget' phones in HK/CN are preinstalled with Malware/Spyware/Bloatware. Some of it's mandatory, some of it's ad-popups and Camera/QR intercepts that keep the camera open, sic. Budget Xiaomi/Huawei's are infamous - as they come preinstalled with forensic-malware from the Ministry of Public Security. It's a feature to save you time.

Since July 2024, Border staff, Police, Ministry of Public Security can sieze and intercept/install software on your phone. It isn't specific for returning Chinese - tourists, guests can also be intercepted as checking for 'battery banks' that don't have 3C certification for confiscation.

Which then leads to phone inspection (sic) if cooperative / random inspection is required.

        • Implying everything in the western world isn't fully backdoored too?

          • @wetsandwich: How many back doors do you want though. At least we only have the American ones here. Phones there will probably have both American and Chinese.

          • @wetsandwich: No, “everything” is almost certainly 99.9% not backdoored.

Also, even if it were, that is a false equivalence. We have not reached the point of constant state surveillance with dire consequences for trivial infractions in the Western world… yet.

        • Do you know any ways of getting text messages through to CN? I have heard that they intercept all phone calls and sms now too.

        • I note that CyberShack article was written by Ray Shaw. The Manchurian Candidate was Sgt Raymond Shaw, who returns from the Korean War “programmed” by the goddamn commies. Coincidence…?

          Yeah, prolly.

  • +3

Can someone confirm the 10% cashback at SB?

    • Also wondering

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got one to replace my Pixel 7a with completely destroyed screen. However, google gave me a full refund for the Pixel 7a so it was still a great purchase :)

    • How did you manage full refund? Battery swell?

      • +5

They didn't even ask what condition it was, i just filled the form out and around 2 months later had around 750 bucks transferred into my account.

        • how long have you use the Pixel 7a?

          • @OhNoUShiz: I used it for probably 2-3 years, not sure exactly of the dates.

        • Was it google or other vendor? Thanks.

    • waiting on my full refund, hopefully not far off given i bit on the nothing phone 3a deal the other day haha

  • Much of a upgrade over pixel 6?

    • +2

Not particularly, if your phone is still holding up fine. Pixel 6 might be older but it was still a $1000 flagship phone. You will get a better battery and display with the newer Moto, but performance wise no upgrade on paper and the camera from google to moto will be a downgrade. You will also give up wireless charging, if that matters to you (but you will get much faster wired charging). You will still get updates on your Pixel 6 until next year as well and they will be more timely.

Maybe have a look at something like this site, just double check the storage/ram specs, as they can differ in different regions.

      • +1

Cheers awesome many thanks ,ideally looking to stay pixel, hopefully the older drop a bit with the newer coming out

  • -3

    @marshmall0w2 is this a good deal ?

  • +1

thanks OP, I've been waiting for this to come down

  • Does this have a curved screen?

    • +5

      Yes.

      Display Size
      6.7" quad-curved display

      • +6

        Thanks. Big deal breaker

    • isn't the Moto G75 a better phone allround, complete with flat screen too?

      • +6

The G75 has an IPS LCD lower resolution screen, less RAM, weaker processor, worse cameras, slower charging and is older.

  • Charger sold separately?

    • +1

Or just use one of the ten you've already got. I prefer using old ones that don't fast charge so my battery doesn't heat up.

    • Yea, unfortunately.

Quite disappointing. I've always raved about how Motorola still come with accessories. Good quality accessories.

  • Thanks, just bought one, this price for 12GB ram is a steal, also don't forget…

I use topcashback, suppose to get 4% back, quoted as $17.64 in my TCB account.
    Also I am going overseas soon, so TRS 10% back, so I think I will get $425 X 10% = $42.5 back

    So the net will be $425 - $17.64 - $42.5 = $364.86, not bad.

    • +2

if coupon code "FINALS" is not listed on TCB, then you might not get the cashback. pls kindly update here if you do get it.

      • sure, I can see the $17.64 quoted in my TCB account already, but there is a 14 weeks estimated for cash payout….
I will come back to update after 3-4 months !

      • +1

Circle back, $15.45 becomes payable last week, less than the quoted $17.64. Also get this earlier than quoted.

    • Just wanna nit pick and say the TRS calculation should actually be ($425/110)*10 = $38.67 back

      • +1

Just divide the amount by 11. Simples!

  • -1

    HODL for a better price

  • +1

Is it an OK phone to replace the iPhone12 64GB which annoyingly running out of space constantly.

    • +1

from apple to android is a change ecosystem, might be easier to clean up phone storage, but if happy to move to android you will getter more phones for the money. Used to be on apple , now android , can afford new phone every 2 years. some androids now have 5 years of updates so some androids are catching up to apple for longevity of updates.

  • Does any Motorola fans know if G55 would be a good burner? Don't really want to spend >$300 for now until I can get TRS

    • +3

Sure, for basic use. It's currently $189 at Amazon. Old post here with link to a YT review in the description.
Isn't it funny that cheaper phones come with a charger, case & 3.5mm jack. Also prefer power button fingerprint reader than in screen.

      • +1

When 3G was around, those true burner phones actually came with chargers and headphones too, all for under $30.

  • No telephoto on this one it seems?

    • +1

That's correct. Fusion misses telephoto lens and wireless charging, compared to the 'higher' models.

  • No jack no party until Kmart will offer $3 earbuds usb C wired

  • This or the Moto G84 5G? Same RAM/storage, has 3.5mm jack.

  • -2

let's wait for Amazon 2nd week of October sale

  • hrmm this or the 86 power which can be had fore $80 less and had a larger battery but less ram and slightly wirse screen

  • -3

Seeing people whinge about no headphone jack .lawl
