Sofirn has 20% auto applied coupon on this item. Full price is $35.99.

From this previous post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/919092) I understand $27.99 was the ATL, and I needed a headlamp for kid's upcoming camp so $28.79 decent enough for me in the circumstances.

The H05B is also on 20% coupon but went with the H35R due to the ability to go straight to red.

I take it the H35R has you….seeing red?

  • Bought this for my dad for father's day and he's absolutely chuffed. Great gift buy

    Is this a genuine Sofirn?

    Amazon description:
Batteries: 1 AA batteries required (included).

    Fail.

    • When I read it it said: "USB-C Rechargeable & power indicator:The H35R features a hidden USB port for effortless and sustainable charging. With its long-lasting performance and smart charging indicators (red for charging, green for full), it ensures you’re always prepared for your next adventure."

      • Scroll down to Product information -> expand Features & Specs, you can see "Number of batteries: 1 AA batteries required (included)."
People didn't read the description and just simply negged me.

        • I didn't neg you but was definitely confused - I see what you mean now though. We'll see what actually shows up when it comes.

@keeperofthegood: I know this uses 18650 lithium battery. I was just showing the wrong info posted on the Amazon page. No way it only runs on one AA battery and able to produce 1500 lumen light XD

  • Keen but a weeks delivery time. Any other recommendations? Need for this weekend

    • Mines coming on 1 October apparently after ordering today? Must have got a few orders since then.

      • I’m west coast which is likely the delay

On a random note, I have the Sofirn H05B and couldn't recommend it more.

I've strapped it to my hat and have forgotten about it, so when I take my hat off, the torch has fallen from around 1.7m height on a concrete floor. This has happened more than 6x and it still works no issues.

    • Easy to use? Some reviews say this is easier

Thanks OP. Got the H05B instead (20% + additional 5% coupon). Ready to blind unsuspecting fellow campgoers!

  • Come on, discount the HS21 also.

    H05B vs H35R
    Strengths & Weaknesses (in practice)

    H05B Strengths:

Very lightweight, good for long wear or minimal weight burden

Strong flood / wide beam, good for close/ambient illumination

    Better water spray resistance (IP66)

At its price point, lots of features (red modes, strobe, etc.)

    H05B Weaknesses:

The highest modes may heat up or step down after a time

The UI (many mode transitions) can be a little confusing at first

Runtime in turbo / max mode is likely limited

Beam throw is not as long as some compete lights

    H35R Strengths:

Better throw (112 m) — more useful for distance lighting

More powerful white output (1,500 lm) gives better brightness headroom

Good red / night vision mode included

    Balanced between flood and throw

    Solid build with multiple emitters

    H35R Weaknesses:

    Slightly heavier

Waterproofing is slightly weaker (IPX6 vs IP66)

More complexity in managing multiple emitters and modes

At high output, heat and step-downs may kick in

Ty, I think a benefit of the H35R is also the simplicity of the UI. According to instructions it is:
Press on for white, then hold for strength steps
Long press on for red, then hold for strength steps
      With memory function as well
