We return with the goods (we hope!) - this time for our OzBargainers in Opticomm-enabled areas. These plans are ONLY available at addresses serviced by Opticomm. If you're in an NBN area - you may need to keep scrolling (sorry).

Our niche has primarily been the 25/10 plan for which we're already known around here. Now, as the newest Opticomm RSP (we're not even on their website yet!), we're seeing what we can do for the community on other speeds. We've launched a number of updated plans, with our same distaste for promotional periods strongly on display:

Plan Price
Opti Consumer 25/10 $53.90 ongoing
Opti Consumer 50/20 $73.90 ongoing
Opti Consumer 100/20 $83.90 ongoing
Opti Consumer 500/50 $86.90 ongoing
Opti Consumer 750/50 $102.90 ongoing
Opti Consumer 1000/100 $108.90 ongoing

We're not aiming to be the cheapest overall provider here - there are plenty of other providers with promotional periods that undercut us (take a look at netbargains). However, we aim to offer a very competitive ongoing price with no promotional periods or other rubbish - reducing your need to bargain hunt and churn every few months.

From what we know so far, Opticomm also update their wholesale prices at the start of each FY aligning with NBN, so we're assuming we won't need to change these plans until mid 2026. We just don't have a several-year relationship in place to say so with confidence.

These updated plans are provided with CGNAT and not all plans are available at all addresses. We can provide a static public IP on plans faster than 100mbps if needed for $7.50 per month. We're working to see what other options we have for public IP addresses, but our relationship with Opticomm is very very fresh (days old).

Services are pre-paid month-to-month. Complete our sign up form, we'll process your order and send you a pro-rated invoice, and activate your service same day (Monday to Friday). We're a small family owned business down in Geelong aiming to provide kickass, on-shore customer service.

We can also offer a Netcomm NF18MESH preconfigured modem shipped to your door for $99 with our plans. Just let us know you need a modem in your order form.

NOTE: The sign up process for Opticomm plans doesn't have the same polish as our other (NBN) services. Provisioning is currently manual on our side. We have online SQ tools to build and a lot of automation to complete, so we just ask you to be patient with us if we have any teething issues. Everyone here at OzBargain are a lovely bunch so I highly doubt this even needs to be requested!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a modem/router that was provided by XYZ provider?
Typically, yes. Most models provided by Optus, Telstra, Belong, Vodafone, Aussie Broadband etc can be used with our services without issue, unless you require a home phone service - as in many cases SIP settings are locked down and cannot be tweaked. You may need to tweak some settings.

Will I need to change settings on my modem/router to get online?
We use IPoE/DHCP for almost all services which is often referred to as "auto configuration". Some estates require PPPoE manual configuration - we will be able to advise you of this during the SQ process if you are concerned. As long as you're coming over from another provider using IPoE/DHCP, you usually won't need to touch a thing. Common carriers who don't need reconfiguration include: Telstra, Aussie Broadband, Belong, Optus, Superloop, and some Vodafone services.

How quickly can you get me online?
Typically, same day Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm AEST unless there's an issue with connecting your address. Once you apply with us, we sanity check your order and approve it. You are then issued a pro-rated invoice by our system. Once this invoice is paid, we kick off an order in Opticomm's systems. Automation of this process is currently underway. Opticomm activation may be slower than our NBN links with this in mind.

Can I schedule a connection in the future?
Yes, our order forms contain a box where you can request your preferred activation date.

How do I go about moving over with a Home Phone?
First, confirm you have an unlocked modem and are capable of adjusting the SIP settings on your device. If so, sign up for our plan and specify that you have a home phone service. It's important to note we need to take over the home phone service before we activate your internet as this is the safest way to guarantee you do not lose your number. Porting can sometimes take up to 2 weeks to complete, so we suggest giving plenty of notice to us. Once your port date is locked in and the number is in our control, we will move your service over to us.

Will you introduce these prices for NBN areas?
There are some significant differences between our wholesale costs for Opticomm and NBN being they're well… totally separate companies to deal with. This means we're not always able to secure the same costs with both companies and intermediate suppliers.

  • Love it

Sounds fantastic and great to see more competition in the Opticomm space.

I’ll be churning from Launtel. I’ve absolutely loved Launtel and wholeheartedly recommend them- but with savings of ~$30 a month, that’s too much to not give you guys a go. Love the transparency too. Signed up!

  • Where were you when I was looking for it for leaving super loop for not offering 100 up. Switched and the net link is a killer for easy comparison. Sadly too soon to try yours.

  • Will you offer free opt out of CGNAT without needing static IP?

  • Can I ask why you named your business that.
To me it screams unreliable or crap quality. As the traditional acronym for fubar normally represents.
I just feel like the name is doing you a disservice.
