Xceed 18V Pack - Cordless Drill, Jigsaw, Sander, Lamp, 2 Batteries, $60 at Masters

130

After seeing this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92648 deal I had a look around and found one which I think suits me better.

Hopefully others like it too!

Set includes a cordless drill, cordless jigsaw, cordless sander, lamp and includes 2 18V batteries.

Advantage of this pack is
1) more/different tools
2) 18V vs 12V which usually means more powerful tools
3) cheaper!

Disadvantage of this pack
1) Ni-Cad vs Lithium Ion batteries (Ni-Cad can get memory effect if not charged correctly)

According to the website all Brisbane stores have stock.

  • Could be considered a little bit on the dupe side with this
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90452

    btw, 3 @ Knoxfield.

    • it could? guess it is in the list there…

tools look cheap… but cant expect that much for 70 bux.. .think i might give them a try!

    • I guess it could as it is mentioned in the description however the title of that was Hammer Drill + others. I thought this deserved its own deal

  • I've got a wired drill and I would not recommend the brand based on that, very low quality.

    • I bought an AC powered chainsaw in this brand and didn't have any dramas. It's no Makita but possibly similar quality to the Ozito brand in bunnings ;)

      • One of the issues I've had is drill bits constantly slipping even when barely loaded, I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating that is.

        • Definitely! I just bought this pack so I'll test it out over the weekend and provide feedback :)

Tools look exactly the same as this BigW deal for $58 with free delivery.
Deal has now expired at BigW, but comments still very relevant.

Same picture, just coloured blue instead of red

Ozito also the 3 year replacement warranty which will at least keep you happy if your tools fail for whatever reason.

I guess this brand doesn't have that peace of mind, but it is all a matter of whether you just want cheap tools and don't care about warranty.

    • That actually is a very good selling point. In case of any issues, they will replace it and not send it to repairs.

    • Wasn't aware of that, good point. Not sure what the warranty length is on these, however I imagine it would be replacement too. Not worth repairing these cheap electrical products

Its the batteries that let packs like these down….

I also agree on that. I think buying any drill with Li- ion is advisable these days.
Ni-Cd ones are quite cheap normally and deteriorate over time.

      • I bought two Black and Decker NiCd drills with two batteries each about 8 years ago and they are just starting not to hold charge anymore. I keep them charged and use them for a couple of minutes a week unless working on a project. Not sure if Lion batteries would last longer than NiCd.

        • if you're using weekly, nicad might hold up ok. but if you only use every few weeks, or months, then the nicad batteries are terrible (in my experience).

My cheap ozito li-ion ones i can charge up, leave in the cupboard for a few months, and pull them out and still have plenty of charge to do what I want to do (minor household bits and pieces).

my ricoh nicads were always dead in that scenario, and I'd have to think ahead to charge up overnight the day before i wanted to use the drill.

        • Li-Ion batteries last longer and drill works fine till end.
whereas for NiCd, they slow down as the battery drains.

After buying many drills, I will only buy Lithium Ion from now on.
Really depends what you are after.
My personal opinion is that the Ozito deal you mention would be better quality.
But, it may be worth paying a bit more and getting a better brand.

Everyone has different purposes and budgets and it would be worth determining what you are actually wanting.

Also, one thing to think about is that replacement batteries will most likely not be available for these cheap tools.

  • I looked at this on the website to get it delivered but the postage was $75, so unless you can waltz into the store give it a miss.

  • what about this 909 6 piece 18v li-ion pack for $150? http://www.masters.com.au/product/100461672/909-18v-li-ion-6…

    • Not bad imho, only a single battery was what let it down for me.

The battery will probably last as long as both of these combined, however I like being able to have one on charge while using the other :)

  • Good deal but these Nicads will turn to shit in one year

  • From living with crappy Ni-cads most of my life I now have Li-ion Ryobi batteries for my drills and boy oh boy the difference is night and day!!!

    I could never go back.
