Uniqlo Airism Quality Declining?

Has Uniqlo quality been on the decline?

Popped briefly into Uniqlo today looking for some basic work suitable polo shirts . But the airism polos I looked at seemed so thin and already creased just hanging there - dont think it was like this before. And this wasn't the sport range. Looked really plasticky and cheap, worse than Kmart even.

Also had a brief look at those oversized Airism tees, same deal, thin and cheap feeling. Much thinner than my 3-4 year old one. The only valid explanation I can think of is that it's a response to feedback that it was too thick or some new material for warmer climates.

Granted, very small sample size but is Uniqlo enshittifying or am I just going crazy?

Not sure if I can add much, but I used to like Target clothes but have found the "active range" seems to be this weird plastic feeling clothes as well and I'm starting to see it more and more. I don't know much about clothes but makes me wonder if somewhere someone started using plastic for cheap active clothes.

A quick search I see "AIRism Cotton Pique Polo Shirt" has:Body: 57% Cotton, 43% Nylon/ Rib: 73% Polyester, 27% Cotton

Not knowing much about clothes I'd guess its the nylon and polyster percentages? I see Uniqlo has polos that are more: 73% Cotton, 27% Polyester (Uniqlo U AIRism Cotton Polo Shirt) that might be better and less plasticy?

By chance am wearing a Uniqlo polo with this exact cotton/nylon ratio.
Feels like clothes to me, obviously not 100% cotton but fit is great and barely needs an iron. Depends what your use case is but I’ll be buying another.
Grabbed some of their chinos, for the price not sure these could be beat
Never shopped there until 3 weeks ago, will go back for some basics
Although not sure on their tshirts

  • I'd go wool polos for work

    decline

Been like this for years. I only get the tshirts from there now. Don’t bother with the rest.

  • I don't know what the quality's like now, but the Giordano polos I bought over a decade ago are fantastic and cheap - still going strong.

      Giordano

      over a decade

Fuarkkkk blast from the past. God I miss double layering polos in loud colour combos with the popped collars, frosted hair tips with the front ski jump, oversized sunnies and baggy jeans

Its comin' back mate, time to dust off the Dolces

  • their AIRism range is quite varied - I've bought a few over the years and they all vary in terms of thickness style and material

  • The way they see it, you get more 'air' for your Airism dollars.

Bought some polo last year thru one of the ozb deals and they were fine.

The airism range, they stopped making some of the styles i liked so its their loss.
