Has Uniqlo quality been on the decline?
Popped briefly into Uniqlo today looking for some basic work suitable polo shirts . But the airism polos I looked at seemed so thin and already creased just hanging there - dont think it was like this before. And this wasn't the sport range. Looked really plasticky and cheap, worse than Kmart even.
Also had a brief look at those oversized Airism tees, same deal, thin and cheap feeling. Much thinner than my 3-4 year old one. The only valid explanation I can think of is that it's a response to feedback that it was too thick or some new material for warmer climates.
Granted, very small sample size but is Uniqlo enshittifying or am I just going crazy?
Not sure if I can add much, but I used to like Target clothes but have found the "active range" seems to be this weird plastic feeling clothes as well and I'm starting to see it more and more. I don't know much about clothes but makes me wonder if somewhere someone started using plastic for cheap active clothes.
A quick search I see "AIRism Cotton Pique Polo Shirt" has:Body: 57% Cotton, 43% Nylon/ Rib: 73% Polyester, 27% Cotton
Not knowing much about clothes I'd guess its the nylon and polyster percentages? I see Uniqlo has polos that are more: 73% Cotton, 27% Polyester (Uniqlo U AIRism Cotton Polo Shirt) that might be better and less plasticy?
