lol yep and the failed product is now having a clearance what a surprice. this reminds me of the HP slate back in the day lol but not ones lining up for this.
i am shocked this has a 4 star rating. lol
i am curious though what is the actual audio like on this thing? in complarison to say bose qc45?
Truly the biggest product flop in history this thing
*iSnack 2.0 has entered the chay
yeah one hell of an ugly headset… even for $99. PS thanks OP for sharing the deal.
I might buy these as they could become a collector's item in, who knows, about 35 years time. I predict they could become worth at least $105 by then.
Yr 0 invested $99
Yr 35 = $105 (6.06% ROI)
That gives you an annual ROI 0.173%Still higher than a bank's 0.025% pre-inflation.
You should have paid more attention in year 5 maths classes lol
@marshmall0w2: but the $105 they get in 35 years would still be affected by inflation, they could of had that at 4-5%p.a in a bank and got that annually instead of a once off 6% increase that took 35 years
@Qazxswec: I said
Still higher than a bank's 0.025% pre-inflation.
Which means pre-2022 inflation rates.
Banks are dropping savings rates right now. They went from a recent ATH of 5.5% to some at 3% now.
@marshmall0w2: Its not higher my friend, your forgetting that the $105 you would receive in 35 years has also been subjected to the same inflation, if you are going to account for inflation in the bank part of the equation then you also need to do it for the cash from the headphones, your 0.025 is taking inflation into account, but the 0.173 is not taking into account that same inflation.
Even if you had your $100 at 1% for a 35 year fixed term deposit, you would end up with more than $135, which clearly is more than $105, which means you would be at least 7 times better off@Qazxswec: In what mathematical world would fixed rate 0.173% per annum lose to fixed rate 0.025% per annum? Also, you do know that on its own, leaving money in a bank WILL ALWAYS lose to inflation right? That's why there's a saying "you lose money in a savings account." But if you factor changing bank rates, then sure, bank will beat a fixed rate 0.173% per annum.
Had a perks voucher for $10 off $100 spend, pretty good deal for a headphone that rivals the airpod max, xm5s etc in sound quality and anc.
Yep genuinely good. If the weight is ok and general bulk everything else is good including battery life and the explorer comes with great cables and bags etc.
Where was this perks voucher from?
It was just a random "Spend over $100 Get $10 off*!" email I got 2 weeks, nothing in particular triggered it so maybe it was a targeted marketing campaign?
I got a "Big Brand Blitz" email 20min ago with a $10 perks voucher, cant see a min spend, it worked with these headphones.
Gonna buy a pair just so I can wear them on conference calls and put on a stupid Bane voice:
"Ahh, you think a spreadsheet is your ally? I was born in it. Moulded by it"At $99 I might pull the plug on these for a laugh. By all accounts the headphones themselves aren't too bad when you ditch the purifier.
FYI - "pull the plug" means "to kill" - i.e. pull the plug on hospital equipment (or other electronics), thus turning them off. "pull the trigger" may be what you're going for here.
I'm pre-coffee and just bought a pair of Dyson purifier headphones, clearly my brain hasn't played a part in my morning yet. I'm just going to sit in the corner mixing metaphors until the cows come home.
They are fine with the purifier imo
Weight is close to 600gms without the air filter thing. Just too heavy.
True. Mine are 460g now with fans etc removed (easy enough) and plastic 3d printed covers on.
Real keen to do that. Don't have a 3d printer. Did you get your inspiration from any covers available online? Will appreciate a link. Thank you.
Do you have a link to a guide? I'm keen to get some and do this.
i thought airpod max is already heavy enough which is 380gms…
This has to go down as one of the most bizarre inventions ever
I had to check my calendar to be sure it wasn't April 1st
Halloween
they tried cashing in on COVID mask-wearing phase. They make good motors for their vacuums and hair products, so probably thought its another product to add a motor in.
Bought one for allergies, hope it works
Haha RIP to scalpers who bought this during the $199 rush and rushed to FB Marketplace with it. But more RIP to purchasers of scalping.
I grabbed 2! But hey I've also been enjoying one and I just chucked the other in the cupboard. Ppl getting so carried away with the mouthpiece they ignore they sound pretty good!
Great price. Got some jb GC lying around, might get one.
Good for lawn mowing.
thought i wont waste money on this until i saw your comment
Not so much the headset but filteration might do. Should work for dust (at least) and fume (not fully enclosed, might not work very well).
100% is thats why I got mine
No one cared who I was until I put on the mask.
Got one. Cheap enough to try modding it now
Now my cyber sub zero custome is complete and ready for halloween. Cheers OP
Ahhh so cheap.
Ok seriously guys they are a bit heavy but get some 3d printed covers to reduce some bulk and weight and go for it. They really sound pretty good and eq even better. The transparency mode is incredible.Have any ideas on where to buy the covers for those without 3d printer?
Someone with a 3d printer. Plenty online but find someone who knows someone :) cheap as chips.
Also grab the explorer version. Can’t seem to find this explorer version, link pls?
I can help you out (fellow OCAUer).
Thanks! I'll drop you a message later
As a fellow OCAUer (albeit with a different username), could you potentially assist me too?
@tangcla: Excellent, would always expect to compensate you fairly for the time, effort and print costs. Will PM after they arrive and i'm certain I want to tear them apart.
Interested in this too.
If they ever hit $50, they'll be good for kids headphones. Just rip out that filter nonsense.
And your kids would have F1 drivers necks so there's that.
I’ll wait until they’re 0.99 cents then pull the trigger
Thanks OP bought for conference calls and going to the supermarket
why there's no images of anyone wearing it on the website? no doubt cos it looks ridiculous, but i wanna see so i can laugh !
you dont have to use the face bit its magnetically detchable
Halloween costume sorted
😄
Explorer edition out of stock already
What was the difference just colour?
More accessories, bigger box etc etc
How much more was the explorer edition compared to the base model?
Really? Everything seems to suggest it's just a colour difference
@drprox: Fair enough. Hopefully they don't cancel those orders. Which is usually the case when they take the link down due to price errors 🤞
Ok I had to look it up, the difference is a case, pouch and flight adapter. But unlikely I will wear this outside the house 😂
The biggest difference is the inclusion of the audio 3.5 to USB C cable. You can't use any normal 3.5 to C. You need to use Dyson's proprietary cable.
Dang it I went and watched the Marques Browne video, and still wanted to buy it anyway but the Explorer was already out of stock. Should have just bought and regretted it later! Went with the standard edition anyway, thanks OP
I picked up these for $200 on the last sale. They are amazing, best headphones I've ever owned. They are very comfortable for long periods despite the weight, and the sound quality is unreal. Ordered 4 more.
Nearly went ahead and ordered, as it seemed to be approaching what they are worth, but then I realised they still want me to pay them the $99 rather than the other way round.
The Microsoft Zune of headphones.
Jokes aside, that price without the filter bar attached appears worthwhile for good ANC.
Like the Zune. Wait for a movie to use them ironically and the value goes up exponentially
My Xm3's are tired after daily use for 6 years, so going to give this a go. The quality for price seems unmatched here even if they are heavy and have a weird gimmick.
Does it come with a free Microsoft Zune?
These are not bad headphones, they're just huge and way too heavy. I had a pair and the sound absolutely killed my QC Ultras, but there were some extremely annoying things that caused me to return in the end.
1. ANC automatically turns off when you join a call, this was a massive pain on Teams calls while in the office and can't be disabled.
2. Just before 90 days of ownership, the on ear detection went dodgy and the headphones randomly started turning themselves on and off again, rendering them useless.
3. The weight cannot be over stated. They're good for a few hours, but absolutely do get fatiguing.
4. You look like the reddit icon wearing them, so do with that what you will.Alright go on, they look fun to try and free with credit card points.
edit annndd forgot to use the perks coupon.
I remember when these came out and laughed hysterically. Now I am the sucker buying these… Thanks OP for sharing this Covid Relic!
Searched mail for a perks voucher and applied. Good price!
Do these help with hayfever? Also would they be useful on the plane to help reduce risk of getting sick breathing in recirculating cabin air?
This needs to come in Scorpion yellow and not just Sub-Zero blue.
I 'll leave my review here when I bought it for double the price. Overall thoughts haven't changed, but this is a headphone I only use every now and so the lack of a easy to access shutdown button is a major pain point.
Preface, I'm not picky about audio but I have had a wide range of different headphones. Though the closest comparisons I have here is the Focal Bathys (I'll call it Bath) and Bose QC ultra Earbuds. I also tend to listen on the quiet side, I say this because from experience certain headphones just sound better on louder volumes (i.e. any of the biodynamic driver)
Test is mostly done using youtube music with AAC codec through my android phone.
Sound Quality:
* Typical V shaped, there isn't any particular genre that it's bad at (good instrument separation for busy tracks, enough bass, good clarity on vocal). But on the other hand it also means there's nothing is particularly excel at, so a good all rounder.
* Little bit sibilant (ssssss), unfortunately EQ does not offer much control at all (three preset, default preset is "enhanced", which is extra V, I've since put it to neutral, the other one is BASS BOOSTED)
* Detail is good. Not as good as Bath, much better than QC earbuds ultra.
* Imaging quite good
* Remember at the start I said I enjoy lower volumes? This is good time to bring it up because it sounds like ass in higher volumes (around 72db, still under the recommended limit apparently). Bass doesn't get punchier but instead instruments just start to mush together. The impression of clarity created by the sibilance is starting to become its biggest downfall. For busy tracks, its has lost its detail and resolution, what you get is just a mess. So for this volume, its only good for specific genres instead of a all rounder. But at this point I'm comparing it against higher-end headphones, so if we take a step back, its still quite good.
* Overall, I'd enjoy using itComfort:
* It's on the heavy side, but the weight is only one of the factor to comfort. For example I found Beyerdynamic T1 to be the most uncomfortable despite only 360g and wrapped in thick foam, because for some reason it creates a hot spot on my heat at the top. Similarly Bath is also only 350g, also sometimes gives me a hot spot. So comfort is not bad at all (there are heavier headphones out there folks!)
* I've only worn them for around 2hour sitting down, but I can see myself going longer
* Definitely won't be moving around too much in this thing
* Material used for headband and earcup could have longevity issues, but that's only guessing
* Overall, comfortable enough but only if you have a strong neckNoise Cancelling:
* It's good, not Bose (not even QC ultra earbuds) level but in return the white noise is not as bad
* Better than Bath for sure
* Does not adequately cancel out the noise of the fan if you're using air purifying feature, you gonna need to blast your music instead
* More than good enough for normal use but I'd still take Bose for traveling (personally a huge fan of Bose's comfort as well)Other notable mentions:
* App is cool, most interesting part is it shows the internal and external sound level. This is the first time I realised my preferred listening volume is around 39db. I can see this can actually help people not listen to extreme volume for extended period (protect your hearing, peeps)
* Case is a interesting design, even has room to shove in the visor.
* No easy way to turn it off (maybe I'm just dumb)? I think they wanted the user experience to be like the Airpods pro max S plus utlra 5G where you just don't think about it. Personally I think it's a good direction but whether that's well implemented we'll see
* Air purifying is a gimmick but not too awkward to use (they really did put some thought into the user experience), and I think it might actually come in handy in areas with worse pollutionoverall, I'd say it's well worth the 200 dollarydoos, because you can do a lot worse for more money.
For me this is strictly a indoor headphone due to the weight and way it looks (duh), otherwise the weight practicality it's a very versatile all rounder that should satisfy almost all circumstances.oos
Phew, was in my cart and I was on the cusp of buying. Helped save me money
OOS
Page gone
Their next version looks better and is without filters.
So just normal headphones then?
Who wants that.
Looks like its all gone, Had it in the cart then said cant ship :( Oh well, didnt need it but would of been cool haha
The professionals strike again
If you are tempted, you might want to check this video out.

Key points are that the air purifier has the fans in the headphone, so impacts the ANC and listening.
Probably better to buy and ditch the air purifier
However at $99 review would be completely different as he was talking about ORP 10X this price.
