Here's how to get 40% off a Yoto player!

Yoto's having a flash sale! 20% off players and accessories and 15% off cards until October 14th (no code required). (Note Amazon is having a sale too but not as good). Yoto Player $143.99 (RRP $179.99), Yoto Mini $103.99 (RRP $129.99)

You can then sign up to their 'Collector' club for just one month for $13.99 which gets you 10% off your entire order & 1 free credit which can be used for a free card (which is worth up to $24.99) (or there are other more expensive options available, or annual memberships). Yoto $129.59, Yoto Mini $93.59

Discount stacks with a further 10% off with a referral code (if it's your first order over $99 - note purchasing the club membership doesn't count as your first order). Yoto now $115.19, Yoto Mini $83.19

Alternatively if you don't want to expend any $ to get the discount, you'll still get 30% off by combining the flash sale with a referral discount.

My almost 3 year old loves hers and uses it daily. Last on sale 3 months ago.

It takes a little time to set up so factor that in too :) Would also recommend wired headphones (Bluetooth on these ain’t great and connecting can be a struggle) which also have strong noise cancellation. When using proper volume limiting for little ears in a noisy environment, it’s very tricky to get the right balance between audible and damaging. We gave up on Yoto during flights.

Thanks for your tips all ;) Might just get it from Amazon instead as they offer next day delivery

  • Thank you! Been looking for a deal. :)

  • Thanks guys, I think my son is gonna love this. Can confirm that the 10% off from the club discount stacks with the referral, so $84.24 + $13.99 for the Yoto Mini plus a book card, and I guess a month of access to the subscription books.
    Nice!

These are a junk predatory locked-down fashion product.
They can only be used with the app via "the cloud", you can't just load up music onto the internal storage via the USB port.
The internal storage is a cheap SD card, that you can't easily remove.
They can't play most music formats, you have to convert everything to mp3.
When inserting cards, music is streamed from "the cloud" and only cached locally, with no user control over that cache.

Edit: I own one for my kids and given the limitations it's almost useless for us, but all you ever hear about these is how wonderful they are, presumably from people that just don't know any better.

I wish someone would come out with an ordinary portable speaker that you could plug usb-sticks into and have them auto play, my 2 year old can plug usb-a drives in easily.

Totally! The first thing my 4-year-old said when I bought one was, "I can't believe this only utilises a local cache via non-removable SD!"

      • No of course not, your 4 year old said "thanks for the phone and app to manage my yoto, now i'm a big girl the youtube integration really suits my unfiltered lifestyle".

        • +1

My 4 year old got access to the app and is now listening to Andrew Tate on his yoto mini. He won't even drink his kale smoothies any more. my fellow eastern suburbs lululemon instareel mums help me pleeze.

    • Can't think of anything worse than a USB drive sticking out of a speaker. That thing wouldn't survive a drop.

  • If I like Rhonda Patrick and dr Becky, would this be ok for my kid? I know it's a weird question but I hate screens and outsourcing parenting to devices. My 3.5 is obsessed with being told stories so I know she would love this but I don't want her development to be skewed just because I want a break from making up another unicorn going down a rainbow slide story.

If your kid loves being told stories, let them listen to more stories! It doesn't have to reduce the amount of stories you tell them, and if it does that's OK too, especially if it means you can use that time and energy to care and connect in other ways. It's also developmentally important for children to learn how to entertain themselves, and a Yoto (in moderation) can help with that too.

Very rarely does my kid solely listen to her stories. A Yoto just allows her to keep her hands free so she can listen to stories while also doing low cognitive demand activities like tidying up, drawing and painting, or jumping on the trampoline. She straps her Mini on and listens to tunes as she rides her scooter around. Kids are great at absorbing information while they're not paying direct attention to the thing delivering that information.

You sound like a good parent, so I'd also gently caution against being too prescriptive or anxious with the way you care for your child, particularly if you're getting advice from people you can't interact with; these people of course mean well and have lots of great things to contribute to the conversation but they don't know you or your child or your situation (btw I love Dr Becky!). You sound like you care and that's the most important part, so take what you can and adapt what you need.

  • I’m having issues with this. I signed up for collector membership, but not seeing the discount on my order, just getting the 10% referral discount.

When I try and log out and log back in, I get an error stating “too many attempts” - anyone else having the same problem?

    • just went through this, there's minimum order of $99 (after the 10% collector discount as far as I could tell…) I added a 5 pack of the MYO don't forget to also use the 1 credit from the collector membership on a card.

    • Have you tried a different browser? I managed to check out first but now I'm getting too many attempts on Chrome; works on Firefox though.

      • if you get that "too many attempts", clear your browser cookies. I did that, and it worked.

  • All seems to be working now!

  • Probably a question for Yoto to answer, but what the heck…
Does anyone else have any reader issues with the Mini? We find we have to put the card in, then pull it back out about 5mm for it to read. Sometimes a little bit more fiddling is required.
It's done that since day 1. Is this normal, or is our reader a bit dodge?

    • +1

Sounds dodge. Mine don't have such issue.

    • +1

Ours doesn't do that. Probably best to contact customer support.

    • Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll do just that.

  • I have been trying for a couple days to login to a newly created account. Whenever I try I get an error message saying too many attempts. Has anyone else encountered/solved this. I see an earlier comment about it, but trying multiple times has not worked for me.

    • Try a different browser? Clearing your cache?
I tried again the next day with Chrome (which was giving me the error even after clearing cache) and it's working now…

    • I'm in the same boat, using Firefox on a VPN.

I had this. Turns out I think that the "email confirmation" link logs you in and trying again confuses the backend. I cleared the website's data and re-clicked the confirmation link and I was logged in.

      • +1

Yeah I finally got in with a combo of clearing cookies and history.
Got $130 for the Player and a Princess stories card. Got a rubber case and 10 NFC cards from Ali for $20 delivered. Now just need to figure out how to find stories!
