For those who missed it last time, Accor is once again offering free instant platinum status for new members.

These links are meant to be private, however are leaked and won't last long - so my advice, sign up now!

You may think, if a loyalty program is giving away free elite status, it's most likely not a great one - which is true. BUT, I have been able to use this status, obtained through a promotion like this, for room upgrades - 3 out of a total of 3 stays.

Le Club Platinum status is typically allocated to customers whom stays at an Accor property 60 times within a calendar year.

Unknown expiry date.

Platinum benefits:

•100% more points - can be transferred to numerous reward programs.
•A priority desk in more than 2500 hotels worldwide
•A drink and a welcome gift in Sofitel hotels
•A room always available before your arrival
•An upgrade
•Late check-out until 4pm
•A dedicated customer service
•Guaranteed room availability 5 days before your arrival
•One Thalassa Sea and Spa Institute beauty product and treatment in Sofitel Thalassa Sea and Spa hotels

I've never been overseas, and in the space of an afternoon I hold platinum member status for 2 large predominantly international hotel groups.

Now you can do your armchair travelling with enhanced Platinum status. You can start by requesting a champagne welcome and a late check-out (spouse or partner permitting).

      • +2

Champagne welcome my arse. Last year I used this at a Sofitel and a Pullman, they only gave me a coupon for a non-alcoholic drink. You should have seen the look on their faces when I tried to redeem it for a $90 bottle of red Burgundy.

  • Thanks, just signed up. It is worth noting that you won't receive the loyalty card, until after your first stay at one of the hotels. You can however still quote your membership number for the first stay.

    • Isn't the card provided at your first stay?

      • +3

I think its normally posted to you after your first stay.

      • +1

Maybe, it is not very clear. I would have presumed in the mail.

"You will receive your Le Club Accorhotels Loyalty card after your first stay in one of our hotels.
Until then, don't forget to mention your member number (XXXXXXXXXXXXX) each time you make a reservation as well as upon arrival at your hotel. "

I do not know for sure, some have report differently.

I received mine 4 weeks post-signup without any previous stay.

    • The last time I signed up, I received the platinum card 3 weeks after signing up. I was sure that it was the platinum card because just two weeks ago they informed me it had expired and I had been downgraded to standard member

  • Woot, thanks

  • +1

Can someone explain "an upgrade" to me.

Say you book a standard room, when you get to the hotel will they automatically put you in some top of the line room with all the trimmings?

    • they may put you in a slightly better than standard room. you wont get top of the line anything unless you have a truck load of points

    • Your initial booked room is upgraded to the next room category, on the basis of availability at check in.

    • +2

The upgrade benefit (and other benefits other than the 100% point bonus) only applies to Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery hotels. The terms say that an upgrade is "subject to availability", and must be requested at check-in. From the few times I've stayed at Sofitel and Pullman hotels, though, I've always received a one category upgrade to the next best room or suite and didn't need to ask because the check-in agent recognised my status immediately. YMMV.

Also, you generally need to book directly with Accor to receive the perks. If you book through a third-party, you can contact them beforehand to link your Le Club Accor membership number to your booking, but benefits may or may not be given depending on the property.

    • Upgrades will vary based on availability and property.

Common upgrades include being put in a corner room (better view or larger), higher floor/executive floors, larger room type i.e. from a king to a deluxe (terminology varies a lot but you get the idea).

I've had good experiences with Pullman with Le Club Accor, with the value of upgrades being worth several hundred dollars.

Bear in mind if you book a budget property like Ibis, there's nothing to be upgraded to lol (did this once)

    • Dupe - please delete

  • I am an existing member.
Takinng the tips from the previous post, I entered my email address with a full-stop. What is that going to do with my existing membership? Do I have two accounts now??

    • Yes, if you have points in the old account, you can transfer (merge) it to the new one.

      • What's the best way to get them to merge the accounts?

  • +1

signed up last time but only got a classic status.
Tried to do it now but
"Invalid identification. Please try again or use another e-mail address."
    How does it work?

  • Thanks OP, my platinum just expired a week ago, great timing. My work puts us up at Novatel or Mecure, this regulary gets me a decent upgrade

Just to reiterate, upgrades are only a stated benefit ("subject to availability") for Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery hotels. One shouldn't expect upgrades at Novotel and Mercure hotels with this card, but having it will give you a greater chance of getting lucky than having no status at all.

  • I tried this last time. Get emails… No card came.

Not sure how this compares to the best western card system. It's mainly aimed at USA hotels, but I get 2-3 free nights a year out of it.

Thanks mate, platinum again. Got a free upgrade and 5pm check out on New Year's Day last year with this card in London.

  • I signed up with a hotmail account. I'm an advantage plus member. Anyone know how to merge the two?

  • Sweet! Pity it wasn't a week earlier… just stayed at a Novotel for work on Wed night.

  • Trying to get the offer, when I put my email it says invalid login?? I did have an account previously but the platinum status expired. It says you can login with username and password but does not work? it wants email and a confirmation of email..

    • Did you use a Gmail account? I did I got the error. but then I switched to use my Hotmail email and it worked.

  • Excellent. Thanks OP.

  • Signed up. Thanks OP.

  • Just wondering with the link, it sends me to send $170? I don't get it?

  • This is what I get after I put in my email…

"Invalid identification. Please try again or use another e-mail address."

    • +1

Probably means you need to use another email address — this came up when I tried to use an in-use email address.

    • same error for me on gmail and bigpond address. stupid, wont even bother now.

      • I had an old free Accor account with zero points so I had to change the email address on THAT (confirm it via links etc) and then use that same email address to create the new Platinum account. It's all free so thanks OP - hopefully can use it sometime.

  • Try @googlemail instead of gmail - seems to work ok

    • From what I can gather, whenever you sign up it creates a NEW account, with a new membership number etc, so it doesn't act as a continuation.. hence why it says its invalid etc, as you can't link 2 membership numbers to the same email account..

  • GHA and Accor hotels are going to be seeing a lot of platinum members staying in their hotels in the next year i think

  • help!!

I get the message: "The request failed and the error is unknown or undefined" when I'm at the confirmation page :(

  • My experience with Accor Hotels is that there is no benefit and recognition for status. It's not worth the money spent. Better off going with Priority Club, Hilton, etc. if you're going to use hotel points since they make an effort to recognize status.

  • +2

What's higher than platinum? I just received this email having joined something like this last year

Unfortunately, the number of points and nights you've accumulated this year does not entitle you to keep your status and so you have been moved to our Le Club Accorhotels Platinum status.

    • You need to read the email better.

It would say downgraded from platinum.

      • No I quoted what the email said. It said "you have been moved to our Le Club Accorhotels Platinum status". Pretty clear to me.

        • I got exactly the same email today as well. You are not going crazy!

        • I must be going crazy then.

Seems strange they moved you to the same thing.

  • Thanks, went thru fine. Although some of the preferences were in Thai, so I am not sure what I liked in some of the drop downs :)

    G

  • So i signed up, but I didnt read anything to suggest it wasnt just for a normal Accor membership…

    • oh its now telling me i am a platinum member… sweet!! thanks OP!! :)

  • The given promotion code is not usable anymore

    Too slow!!

    • 7026 clicks… wow.
