Not Getting 500/50 with Tangerine nbn

Hi, I have tried calling Tangerine customer support and they have been far from helpful.

I currently have a eero 6+ modem router (Old Superloop customer).

I got an email from Tangerine advising all I needed to do to get 500Mbps downloads was reset my router. However I have done this multiple times. I still get the same speed 100Mbps/6.47Mbps.

    eero is not a modem, it's a router.

    You likely need to reset the black standalone, or white wall-fixed, nbn boxes.

      Yep, this. You need to reset the NBN NTD, not the router

  • You get what you pay for with regards to support :/ They won't even know what you are talking about (device wise) !

    Switch to ABB, get it sorted there, move back to Tangerine when you are ready for their level of support ;)

    Dump Tangerine. Go to Leaptel or back to Superloop.

  • You could also look at southern phone , I have been with them for four months and found their advertised speeds to be on par with my eero six plus 💯

    Your problem isn't speed, it's support. In my experience, ABB has the best support, switch.

  • Hi dude, I had the exact same problem when I switched from More NBN to Tangerine (they're "sister companies"). Tangerine support was absolutely useless, I just kept calling them until a technician finally understood what I meant and did something on their end.

    Any chance your old line from from superloop is still active? I remember the tech asking me if i had deactivated my old plan.

    Best of luck. Happy to say though I do get 440/90 off peak with a google nest mesh system (wifi 5 not the wifi 6 "pro").

    Edit: I just want to edit my comment to emphasise that Tangerine support is horrific. Now you may think "Oh yeah all of them are bad", but I've been through TPG, Exetel, Dodo, TPG again and yeah they're bad, but Tangerine even makes hell look good.

  • I was with tangerine for 6 months and never had a problem.

    But resst everything from your NBN box, router again and look at your device settings, 192.168.0.1 or ending in 0.0 and see what type of connection if it's like dhcp, pppoe etc….

  • Are you on FTTP or still on FTTN/FTTC as the upgrade can't happen otherwise?
    You will only get 500/50 on a full fibre or HFC connection.
    Not getting anywhere with your telco, lodge a complaint with TIO ( Ombudsman ).

  • Had the same problem. I found Tangerine support ok in this instance. Resetting the box and router fixed it but it did show another problem - my WiFi dongle was only doing 100Mbit. In a different location it would do 250. Changing WiFi dongle to a different one enabled full speed. So maybe check that too
