These books need no introduction.
The books are the movie tie-in editions, which means that their covers are stills from the movie and that they contain key images from the film in the middle of the book.
This is the lowest price ever on the net for this boxed edition but I have no idea how long this deal will last.

  • Am I right (and if so, being blatantly obvious) in saying that these books do not feature all the stuff the movies cut out, such as Saruman taking over The Shire, and instead feature bits that were entirely original, such as the elves helping out in Helm's Deep?

You will also notice that those reviews are for a year 2000 edition and this year is 2013. Amazon blend the reviews for different editions into one. So "best avoided at all costs" is a load.

How can you be sure the errors are corrected? do you want to take that risk?

          the 1,200 5 star reviews?

One month ago they were misprinted and off angle. You're probably right though - who knows if that was the 2010 edition it's not like they expire.

    • To those negging auna, might want to look at AmazingJas's comments below… RECENT valid concerns about pages missing and small type fonts should be enough of a reason to avoid this product as suggested. Thanks for heads up to auna and AmazingJas.

Says $12.25, am I showing price for some other country, or is shipping $10?

    • +1

……..yes. That's why it's $22.23US delivered, as in the title.

Some of the newer reviews do state there are issues with quality. One stated that his was missing 20 pages and had typos. Lots of reviews confirm that the font is very small and hard to read.

But that price is pretty exceptional if you get one with all the pages, and don't plan on reading it more than once or twice.

Am I the only one that really hates when books put the movie art on them?

    • Nope, I always buy the original artwork, and preferably original edition (like in Narnia where some editions moved around the books, and changed some sentences).

  • The price excluding shipping is showing up as $20.65 for me :(

  • Sweet bippy deal. Thanks OP.

  • Showing $21.28 without shipping - must be expired
