Port from Boost and Back Again

My boost plan ends on the 21st Oct anyone know of any cheap sim deals and who should I use?

I’m hearing that you can just buy a $2 Telstra sim port out of boost and port back in next day.

But if I was to find a good cheap sim deal at least I have access to calls and txt to tick over with.
I notice got the boost 12 month plan yet but I know on here a few sell it.

It’s many years I have ported out and in and I can’t remember the process is it all done online.

I will need to do mine and also get wife’s one done as well.
So I’m thinking get 2x boost plans as will need to be posted and then look into the sim to port out.
Being a boost customer will the Telstra sim not cause issues?

Occasionally when you port with Telstra network, there’s issues. So often it’s better to port to Vodafone/optus carrier and then port back to Boost

    • But i suppose you can’t port with Vodafone like after a day back to boost? Also Vodafone is not great here reception. What about Aldi?

      • I have been doing it about 5-6 times in the last 2 months, with only one time not instant, for about 90 mins till completion and confirmation email after 12 hours. I always be back after a few days, never on the same day.

      • That should read “within the Telstra network” (eg; Telstra, Boost, Belong etc)

        • I have never received a port-out e-mail but completion e-mail when move between Telstra and Boost so that they are truly considered internal moves.

Interestingly, when I port out a Boost service number to Optus(and others), I receive both Telstra and Boost port-out notifications.

  • I like that you wrote your whole post as haiku

  • Just buy an Amaysim which is on sale, eg. a $25 plan for $10.
Then, use that Amaysim service for about 4 weeks.

Just before that Amaysim 1-month "plan" is up, port to Boost Mobile, and your port will go through in about 10+ minutes.

Basically, it's better to use a service for a month, at a good price,
than to just port out within the same day.

When you port out, you must leave the Amaysim in your phone, until you receive the SMSs about the porting, etc. etc…
to accept the porting out, etc. etc…. and then, within 10-15 minutes, you will see that Amaysim connection go down.

You insert your Boost SIM , and it will start working in the phone.

But amaysim is crap here what’s point in having such provider if it’s going to be poor, boost is the reason I go with them each year as it works.

      • How much is your Boost Mobile 12-month SIM ?
Divide that by 12-months, and you will pay that much per month for Boost (Telstra).

Since you are porting out of Boost (Telstra), and need to port back into Boost,
you should NOT go from Boost to Telstra….because it is the same network.

It is better to port to a non-Telstra network, and then come back to Boost (Telstra).

To do that, you would need to buy a SIM card just to port out.

So, I thought, why "waste" that porting SIM, when you can just spend the equivalent of a month,
and then still get the benefit of the month for a cheap amount, and then you can come back to Boost,
for 12+ months….which will have an anniversary date of 13+ months from the time you ported out of Boost.

if you are porting straight back to boost it doesn't really make any difference whether you use telstra or non-telstra

telstra is recommended because it only costs $2 without needing to recharge. amaysim is available for $1 now, but not sure if it requires a recharge

      • Then stay with them for a day? Literally get any $2 or $5 starter pack (not Telstra) and this will work.

  • Ok i see maybe just go with Vodafone then and use that for a month where I am getting the boost from offers a month of Vodafone for $7

    • You missed out this deal, perfect for 7 days!

  • Port from Boost

    I prefer a good Tokay

    • Any port in a storm ………

  • I do the same thing every year. My go-to is the Aldi $5 SIM

  • if you want to wait for the perfect deal (maybe in a span of 1-2 months) you can consider Felix mobile. It uses Voda and so far im pretty happy with the porting and the network (in my area at least)
their intro price is very good as well for 4 months

  • We went for this deal last week. With the Vodafone SIM addon for porting out and back in. Total of 13 months (12 boost, 1 Vodafone) for $251.

We chose Cellpoint because they are in WA, so it only took 2 days to get delivery.

    • Yea this is what I was thinking but looks like I have to purchase each one seperate one for myself and wife.
As it only adds one Vodafone sim at once.

    • I know it’s $100 saving but if i just did a recharge with boost which i believe is $300 each is it worth the $100 saving and messing about with porting numbers, as by time i pay for boost deal for myself and wife you mentioned and the $7 sim each its just short of $100 more and i could just do a recharge.
Or does the recharge not offer the same gb etc im sure it does.

      • Yes, same as $300 recharge. If you value your time highly, just recharge. If you in enjoy a good bargain, port out and port in.

        • Ordered the two 12m plans for myself and wife and two Vodafone sims it’s still a saving but just wish it had been a better saving watch this there be a deal on them just after me buying them now.

  • What happens if your boost expires before you port out of boost mine ends 21st I would say end of day? Can you still port even when expired

    • Of course the service can be ported out after expiry. Expiry and termination(then usually into quaratine) are different.
