If you are at home and just don't want to walk to the garage to power it off and on again, using Matter, you should be able to power cycle the NTD.
However, if you are away from home, and NBN Internet is down at home, you won't be able to power cycle it remotely (unless you have a secondary Internet connection at home and your router switched to use that backup Internet connection).

    • Seems odd that your FTTP connection drops out, especially enough for you to consider using the plug on it.
Have you contacted your NBN provider to investigate a possible faulty NTD?

  • bought 5, and let's see what it diff from Xiaomi

  • bought 2, time to add new plugs to my HA :)

  • Dispatched dates now pushed out to 1-4 weeks

  • The negative reviews are saying that it only supports Matter for on/off, not power monitoring (Tapo app is OK) . Can anyone confirm this?

    • +2

That’s correct. I have 2 of these and matter can be used to turn ON/OFF only. Power monitoring can be done via Tp Link or HomeAssistant only.

        @RecklessMonkeys @harry2015

energy monitoring via matter was added in firmware update 1.3.2 on July 31 2025. all those negative amazon reviews precede the firmware update.
keep in mind that most smart home apps, apple homekit for example, are way behind the curve as they have not yet properly implemented energy monitoring even though this product is perfectly capable of doing so.

I think 5 is max per account.

    • These are better for home automation

    • and are Tasmoto so can work with HomeAssistant locally without the need for internet connection I believe. Not sure if the TP-Link Matter models can also do that, I suspect they can being Matter. Perhaps somebody with these P110M can confirm.

      • So smartplug must be on the same network and not isolated network for it to work right?

        • Not sure what you are asking.
if you mean via local control and not requiring internet, then yes.

    • Can you fit two side by side in a double PowerPoint?

      • +1

Yes, if asking about the P110.
If asking about the Tasmoto Aust Plug, then no. As one person wrote in a review, They are 50mmx50mm. Australian double wall powerpoints place the sockets 47mm apart, so you can not use two of these units on a double wall unit.

  • All gonski

  • Nice find. Bunnings was happy to price beat for $8.96 each.

  • If anyone cares, confirmed working in Home Assistant with Energy monitoring.

They are firmware version 1.0 out of the box so I used the Tapo app which found them instantly and immediately asked me to update firmware. Once that was done I used the Home Assistant IOS app to pair them using the Matter integration (I still picked the "This device is new and hasn't been paired" option), camera picks up the QR code, paired instantly with energy monitoring.

  • Just arrived. Got 2 to try out.

10/10 - not really much setup needed. Updated the firmware which took all of 1 minute. Setup on HomeKit, doesn't have energy monitoring via HomeKit but I don't really care for that anyway, I've got a PowerPal and a Smart Meter that gives me very accurate monitoring anyway.

Can do basic automation with Apple HomeKit and looks to be similar via Tapo app. Been waiting for the Meross Matter ones to go on sale but I trust TPLink way more and this ended up being waaaay cheaper. Insane value. Will probably grab a few more next time around.

  • Bought it, got it, now I have no idea what to do with it.

    Mine came today too.

Hooked one up with the new Dyson vacuum so it only charges on a timer so it's not on constant charge. It's the only thing I could think of ATM. Got another one to figure out what to do with
