Too bad it's an Acer :(
Poor build quality and outside of the specs of an Ultrabook, but I'm not sure if Acer makes a laptop they don't claim is a Ultrabook.

      • Yeah because Median is better than Acer……Acer who has been making computer hardware for years and even made hardware for Alienware :-P

        • +2

still…..regular Acer computers use below quality product, I do avoid Acer at all cost when it comes to computer!

        • There is every chance that Median is a superior product to Acer, I mean Acer doesn't set the bar very high.
What relevance does Acer's time in the industry have on producing a quality product?
You either do or you don't and Acer is in the don't catergory.
Poor build quality, and very poor driver support.
I'd recommend shopping around there is a huge range of machines in this budget.

As an attempted summary of the above:

Reasonable specs, similar to other cheap laptops. Terrible mouse and keyboard, probably where costs were cut to keep the price down. Being able to swap the DVD drive out for an extra battery is a cool feature, and gives around a 50% boost to no not doing so/other similar laptops.

  • What is 'USB 3.06'? Or should I ask, what is the difference between 3.0 & 3.06?

    • Well, it's .06 better isn't it. You're on 3.0 here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up. Where can you go from there? Where? Nowhere. Exactly.

They've had these at this price for some 4 months now. Not really a bargain.

Friend of mine grabbed one, but ended up taking it back. Windows 8 with no touch screen is kind of pointless. The battery life, even with the DVD out and the extra battery in, was lacklustre. Build quality was average, felt and appeared kind of "plasticky". Came with an absolute mountain of crapware that needed removing. Otherwise it was ok, but generally uninspiring.

    • good points!
OK is not good enough when one day this newbie would like to find the best value for money laptop myself
      too.

Bit on the heavy and fat side for an Ultrabook, if you're looking for an Ultrabook get the proper thing not a mid weight laptop.

    • If it is the same one as before it is very chunky, doesn't look like an ultrabook at all

      • Yeah I'm in the market for a Ultrabook, there's so few machines that really tick the boxes.
