Just a simple one for kicking around the house.
Can have individual switch or USB, but not essential. Neithger is power-surge.
Most of the "normal" ones you get from KMart barely has room for two plugs to be put together.

just be aware that the hpm handyman ones do not power on automatically after being plugged in or after a power blackout. you need to manually switch them on. not useful for things that need to be on 24/7 like routers etc

the RCD is off by default, you need to press a button on the RCD to enable power

Hard to believe you can't get them off ebay/ali cheaper. They'll sell 2m extension cords for $3 at bunnings, but no tiny ones for less than double the price
I've never been able to find an alternative source so look forward to someone posting. Aside from solving the overlapping plug pack and smart outlet problem, I have several use cases where an extra 30cm is all the extension I need.

You're looking at the wrong ones at Kmart. These ones have 6 outlets with 3 of them having wider gaps. A few years ago they used to sell doubles with wide spaces but seems they don't anymore.
Bunnings sell a few Arlec/HPM ones that do the same but they're much more expensive.
