You'd be spewin' if you just bought a P1S in the latest sale.

    P2S looks a treat though.

    • I was looking a trying to sell me P1S combo for about $800 to replace it with a P2S, but might have to wait until this sale is over.
I have plenty of gift cards from MakerWorld and it would be so much easier to have the same nozzles as my H2S.

  • +2

The massive advantage of the P2S (apart from the upgraded and easily swappable print head) is that the combo comes with the AMS 2 Pro. I'm hanging out for that, but the P2S is not discounted.

    • On the P2S product page it says "No Black Friday Discount – Best Price Guaranteed", so I wouldn't expect a black friday discount unfortunately.

  • +2

H2C later this year… These prices are sharp but going to hold out

  • Which one to get? I’m a beginner but what to get into this hobby.

    • +1

A1 (or A1 mini) are awesome beginner machines. I've moved on to a P1S but I still use my A1 mini for particular prints.

    • A1 Combo, P1S & P2S are great picks.

Can't go wrong with any of them.

  • would the P2S combo at RRP better than a ~$1000 used X1C combo?

    • +2

      yeah cos ams2 pro

  • +2

I thought they might dip the H2S combo under 2k but that would probably make early buyers pretty mad. Oh well

  • +1

Hope they have some good filament deals on.

  • +2

    Any filament deals?

  • +2

The Snapmaker U1 is likely to be my next 3D printer

    • I am thinking the same, the 4 head changer looks fantastic, and decent bed size too!

    • all of the reviews look good so far, waiting patiently for mine but probably Jan 2026

  • What was that controversy about Bambu like within the last year or so? Firmware or open source or something? I remember a number of people swearing them off for good, but these deals are pretty nice so I wanna be sure what I'm getting into

    • +4

They locked down their printer driver, making it hard to use anything but their bambu software in short

    • They locked down the local network API around a year ago - Jan/Feb and pushed firmware to close the local network API off.

      https://hackaday.com/2025/01/17/new-bambu-lab-firmware-updat…

Under the premise that people could remote control a printer on the local WiFi network - or use it to access cameras, sic. Ostensibly it broke access for apps like OrcaSlicer to connect to the printer locally and some 3rd party apps / services. The rumour is, Bambu became aware of people using custom RFID's to tag filament spools that weren't Bambu ie. OpenSpool.

The RFID embedded in Bambu filament spools - pushes colour and filament details to the printer, and the spool used/remaining monitoring / rotation counter system is something unique to Bambu.
      https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1i4gotq/my_prod…

Hard to say, since Bambu has since reverted some of the policy and implemented a middle-step option for MQTT notifications / updates and API access. It is still available - but you have to opt-in via the firmware / control panel to enable it.

It's still a potential issue - as is any device with cloud access … but people reversed the sign-in key used to log into the printer to do local login and system diagnostics - Bambu quickly relented on the planned lockout once they realised it could basically prove to be a liability - so now you have to opt-in for the local network access. It shouldn't change in the future… but time will tell.

A similar but different resolution happened with Tesla, their 3rd party API login/session has wide fleet access. Someone with your credentials could start and stop the car, get the current location et al. And a lot of third party web apps can be hacked - having access to location data and other profile and API data. The app that you use to unlock the frunk from an apple watch or siri command, can also get your location and other stats/live data, sic.

Tesla's solution was to key the 3rd party credentials and have them expire regularly so people have to get updated keys every few months, which is more practical - if annoying. it prevents apps you don't use from having long-term access and blocks a lot of API spamming from feeds it does not authorise.

You have to be joking. I pulled the trigger on a Centauri Carbon just an hour ago…

I’ve been waiting for Bambus Black Friday deals so thank you for your sacrifice

    • +3

      Cancel it,

a bit of controversy with the Elegoo CC 2 being announced, and still no word on their filament changer for CC 1.

  • Looking to get one to print board game inserts but unsure which… Any one have any experience with inserts here?

    • If by inserts you mean like little dividers to put pieces in, you can print that sort of thing on almost any printer. You could get yourself a $200 ender 3 for example. But Bambu is pretty close to plug and play so if you're a beginner maybe get an a1 or a1 mini depending on your size requirements

      • Some aren't so small.. Unsure if I'm allowed to post links but this is an example - https://makerworld.com/en/models/1667725-nemesis-retaliation… If this isn't allowed I will delete.

        • you can link Makerworld no issue.

The final result may be large, but you can see that they are made up with multiple parts.
256x256x256 is the most common sized printer, so most designs will be made to accomodate these printers.

On the makerworld thumbnail, click on the '3D Preview' button to see the all print plates.

          • @3dprintdeals: Also looking at your reply below.

Would the A1 be enough for me then? Since the product page does say it can do 256x256x256. I don't think I'd print anything outside of inserts. Maybe some random stuff every now after the hundreds of hours of board game inserts.

I'm fine with spending a tad more for the P1S Combo if it has benefits even if its easier to use/faster to print.

            • +2

@lindraden: I would say the A1 is perfect for what you are looking for, no need to spend the extra on the P1S.

              • +2

@dabhbl: Plus the A1 has the improved easy swap out hot end unlike the P1S

                • @Solrak: P1S nozzle swap is still easily done, it's just not as easy. Not sure how often people are changing nozzles.
Some people have probably never swapped theirs out.

            • +1

              @lindraden: A1 will do great.

The benefits of going to the P1S is it's enclosed, smaller footprint and is CoreXY so taller prints will benefit.
You can get around this with the A1 by mounting the AMS Lite on top or printing out other mods.

at the new P1S combo price, I'd be inclined to go with that over the A1. The new features of P2S are nice but if you don't use the screen or change nozzles than then P1S is a solid workhose.

              • @3dprintdeals: Will probably get the P1S purely because I don't think warranty will cover my cats potentially giving it the side eye.

Am confused about the in 4 days thing though. If I go on the site now and checkout it says $899 for the combo… so is it now? or in 4 days?

                • +1

@lindraden: P1S pricing is already on active due to the the launch of the P2S

Stack the newsletter promo if it's still available for the extra $15.

    • +1

I have printed all my inserts on the A1

      • Wingspan
      • Calico
      • Cascade
      • Ticket to ride
      • Skyteam
      • etc

matte filaments look great, and decorative can go with silks

      • Where do you get files?

        • Look on makerworld & printables

  • P2S or H2S or H2D?

there is about $1k difference between each of the models.

the stingy side of me is saying get the P2S, but the H2S and H2D have a bigger print space and active heated chamber.

alternatively wait for the release of H2C and see if the H2S/H2D prices drop

    • if you need the 350x350 size then you have to go H2S/H2D.

      P2S is banger value though.

They have said that there will be H2C upgrade kits but it won't be an easy task.

  • +1

I was hanging out for a H2S sale, but this was disappointing. Even a little discount would have pushed me over the edge. I guess I will wait to see what the H2C costs and talk myself into the more expensive model instead.

    • If it is a little discount for the H2S… Check out some of the H2S local distributors. Bambu themselves have shipping charges on their printer sales. I think it is like $100 or so for the H2S. Some of the local distributors have significantly cheaper shipping options. (possibly even free). Usual caveats apply, in that, you'll have to deal directly with the third party over warranty issues, etc.

      • I live in a regional area, so the shipping fee at Bambu is substantially cheaper than most of the "local" (to the SE corner*) distributors which makes it VERY attractive to be honest. I'm not super concerned about warranty, I would rather direct to manufacturer though. a $150 discount wqould have done it honestly

  • +1

Nice work on the table, I don't know how Bambu keeps getting away with their inflated original prices. They need to get onto ACCC's radar.

    • How are their prices inflated, the pricing is super aggressive for the quality.

They have had a few sales recently to clear out old stock due to releasing heaps of new models (which they haven't really done for years)

      • +3

I'm not saying that these are not deals as they are.

What I'm pointing out is Bambu's sneaky sales tactic of using old 'original prices' which are inflated. Not the price tables listed here but on their website.

        e.g. Bambu A1

Bambu Lab A1 3D Printer (BF price)
        $399.00 AUD ($639.00 AUD)

Before the sale, A1 was sold for $449. It hasn't been sold at $639 since 2024

so the true percentage is 12% not 31%

        • +1

Checkout the price of the A1 combo on amazon.au . In what universe was it ever $1500??!!!
          -52%
          $745.00
          RRP: $1,548.45 RRP:
          $1,548.45

      • +1

ACCC calls it misleading retail pricing. They went after a few Australian businesses for doing the same thing. Creating artificially inflated “was” prices solely to support discount claims before Black Friday Sales, excluding things from sale despite calling it "site wide discounts" and other misrepresentations. https://mdlaw.com.au/news-insights/misleadingretailpricing/

  • +1

I bought a P1S with AMS2 in April and love it. This is my 3rd printer though, I started with an Ender 3 V2 which was down longer than up and then Ender 3 V3 which was light years better but Bambu is just so much easier. If you're more interested in making than learning everything about your printer… go for it.

  • I got $110 shipping quote for an A1 Combo to WA, is this how they charge shipping? :(

  • +1

The $30 discount code works for the printers too
