Every single retailer alway excludes Apple from promos , are the margins on Apple products that small? Or is it more they know the product will sell regardless of price because it’s Apple
Apple themselves probably dont allow it or discourage it, legal or not. Every anti-competitive thing they do just gets rewarded by customers eating it up as premium.
Nah, Apple do allow it, but the margins are that thin that most stores can't afford to. Same end result though.
When I worked at an electronics retailer Apple never permitted discounts higher than 10% or they'd threaten to cancel your partnership. Can't let anyone devalue their "premium" prices 😉
Margin on Apple gear is significantly less than 20%. On electronic gear it is usually 8% markup between wholesale and retail, plus then a few different rebates may apply (depending on volume of sales and other factors) which can bring it up to between 12 and 14% in total, depending on the category of gear. Cables and other minor accessories like that do have higher margin.
The stores don’t retail Apple products, they are authorised agents to resell the products. So Apple isn’t running a 20% off rebel sports sale at the moment. Only rebel is, hence excluded.
