Been using for a couple days from the Betta deal.

Largely the same as my beloved Moto g54, but the camera is a big step up (as it should be considering the phone's full RRP)

Think for 200 it's a pretty good deal tbh. I'd rate it.

If you're only using it temporarily like me (have a new phone coming December), it still trades for around 260 at CEX, so that's a bonus.

    • -4

      Phone junkie ⁉️

      • +5

Have been on the g54 for a couple years, it got smashed the other week. Saw this and thought it a suitable replacement. Missus spoiled her Xmas present, she ordered this dope ass blackberry style phone for me off Kickstarter and it comes in December. That'll be my phone until it dies or blows up, only reason I moved on from my beloved blackberry was it shit the bed.

She told me about that phone the day mine got smashed so I wouldn't buy a new one…but this price, and the fact I could trade it in for a profit in a couple months, figured why not.

    • Between this and the G86 deal with $20 in between, G86 triumphs. That said, even without the G86 deal, I really can't recommend the Pixel 7 for all its flaws until it hits something like $149.

      • +3

        Which flaws are those?
I'm considering it for my highschool daughter.
        Thanks

        • I made a larger comment in an older Pixel 7 deal post that I'm not going to bother finding but essentially, software + hardware. Boot loop, screen black glitching out, battery issues (overheating or something else), camera oddities. For a high school kid, it's fine.

          • +9

@marshmall0w2: You must be unlucky. I'm still using pixel 7 as my daily driver and it's flawless. No overheating, no battery issues, no camera issues, rock solid software. Its a no brainer at this price over any comparable moto.

            • -1

@zxcvb: Yep, it varies. It's the same with older Samsung phones like the S20 and S21. I have both the S20 and S21 and they overheated like crazy but not my friends'

            • @zxcvb: Yeah, my pixel is going great. 7 pro. The sound quality of recording and the video is excellent. Im considering getting one just to use on a gimple as a video camera.

          • +1

@marshmall0w2: Been using my Pixel 7 for more than 2 years without any issues you listed. Not sure what you going on about. Have you even owned it or just going by rumours?

For $200, there isn't a phone that even come close to the value.

      • +2

Really? Thought on paper they were pretty similarly spec'd? Camera on this is defo a step up I'd imagine.

      • +2

I used both and the G86 just feels cheap and laggy compared to the Pixel 7

        • -3

Dunno. I have both and the Pixel 7 is crapping out bad.

    • What's stopping someone from buying these at $198 and trading them in straight away for $70 profit?

      • +9

The effort versus reward ratio mostly.

      • Trading them in where though?

    • -1

What do you mean 'the same like g54', that one was too slow. Is this slow like that?

  • Description mentioned 12 months manufacture warranty, is the stock from overseas (Australia has 2 years manufacture warranty for mobiles in general isn't it)?

    • -3

      Yep

      • +1

If it was from overseas, why would it be in a Telstra packaging? Read the note on their website

        • There is mention of 12 months manufacture warranty. Pixels are provided with 2 years manufacture warranty in Australia

    • +1

It's likely an error in this listing. Pixels have 2 years as standard. It should be local stock, given its Telstra clearance stock.

    • +3

Doesn't matter. Australian Consumer Law overrides.

  • +1

Thanks. Will be a nice upgrade for my mum's 6a.

    • +9

Check your 6a isn't a recall model. You might be eligible for a cash payment.

      • +8

My mum's wasn't but my son's was, even better, we got paid twice for his for some reason.

  • +1

How do you get RACV discount? I'm entering my card number and it's not working.

  • +2

7 is a great phone. Shame only 2 years worth of updates left (ending October 2027) however that's really good bang for buck. This phone has top features like wireless charging, water-resistance, fast charging and regular updates.

    • -3

Too bad it's a brick (almost 200g). My Pixel 5 is only 151g.

      • +1

I actually still love my 4a 5g but updates ran out. The screen and finger scanner on the back were amazing. 😫

  • +1

    Must resist another phone.

    • Good to have a number for all those sign ups and spam

  • Wonder if 7 Pro will also get these steep discounts soon.

  • Should I buy this new Google phone or a slightly used 7 year old iPhone XS Max for $200 on Gumtree? I am used to iPhones and always used iPhones as I heard Google phones dont last 7 - 10 years like iPhones, is that true?

    • If you're in the apple ecosystem or at least need imessage I would look at nothing older than a 12 and get a battery replacement. Otherwise getting this is a no brainer .

    • +1

I'd think that this 7 would hold up far better than an XS Max would - this is probably compared to a 12 or 13 at this stage. I've been using a 6a for over 3 years and it's help up really well with Android 16 and M3E.

Note that the XS Max is now listed as vintage/obselete by Apple, and is no longer receiving updates. I recently had a 12 Pro Max, and it was a pretty slow experience with iOS 26, but YMMV.

    • +1

If you don't mind apple vs andeoid definitely get this however updates for this stop in 2 years. I'm guessing the XS Max would be obsolete in the same amount of time however the pixel would be under warranty with a new battery.

      • Why do update stops on Google phones? They want you to throw away the phone every 2-3 years? How come we can’t keep phones for 7 - 10 years? They are perfectly functional with a new battery every 3 years to make it last 7 - 10 years. Imagine all the e-waste we will save.

        • It has 5 years of updates from release, it's just been 3 years since release. Yeah probably is built in obsilesence. It used to be worse, used to be 2-3 years from release.

Latest gen for flagships is 7 years which is more reasonable however the battery does begin to become suboptimal earlier than that.

    It's gone - We're sorry!
The page you're looking for can't be found.

  • +2

Absolutely don't need so ended up buying one so I can have a dedicated toilet brigade

  • +1

Why do I always miss out on these deals lol. I'm on here all day waiting for phone bargains and when I'm not on I always miss the good ones

    • +7

      For next time: Events

      Notify me when:
A deal reaches +30 votes in 30 minutes.

Then either use Telegram to get OzBargain web push notifications to your phone, or just use email notifications for traditional method.

      • +1

        thanks for the info,..
Is it possible to change the duration for this option or add new one please ?
"A deal reaches +30 votes in 30 minutes."
change it to "a deal reaches +50 votes in 5 minutes"
a deal like that Pixel 9 Pro XL was gone in 40 mins

        • +2

If it gets 30 votes in 5 minutes, then you get an alert after 5 minutes. It doesn't wait until 30 minutes is up before alerting.

That deal actually only got 5 votes in 5 minutes, nowhere near 50.

Anyway it's not customisable, it's a single event that triggers for everyone. From what I understand, custom settings would be a lot of queries in the database.

  • Wow! All gone sub 2hrs!

    • +1

It's a great phone for a bargain price. They still have the 256GB model for $249, otherwise hopefully the 128GB deals will be back soon.

      • Ooo thanks! That one is unlocked too! Very tempting

  • +1

My pixel 7 has been fine as daily driver, no issues what so ever, yes battery may not be top notch, it still goes easy 10 hours or so with some videos and browsing fair bit and camera is excellent,I am not into gaming so never experienced the lag but the phone is smooth, do not heat up at all in my use case.

Even for $600 to $700 at the time when it was selling back then was a bargain, at $200 it is a steal and anytime and day better than Motorola phones.

  • are they still making these on a production line , using electricity and floor space or do they have so many in a warehouse of old stock left from when they moved to pixel 8 ?

  • The last deal for Betta electrical apparently someone brodened them and bought 200 at once, to then go and sell them on eBay. Hope this one wasn't the same.
