How Long Has Everyone Been Waiting for The New iPhone 17?

I ordered a blue 256GB iPhone 17 from Harvey Norman three weeks ago. I checked today and was told it hasn't shipped yet and didn't know when I'll get it.

I don't know where other people bought theirs from, and how long the wait is. However, I cancelled my order today at Harvey Norman and got my money back. It's not worth it for a phone. I've heard some people got theirs in just a few days, but they bought from the Apple Store.

  • Just like every iPhone release, initial stock allocations sell out quick and you're on a waitlist for the next shipment. Even at the Apple Store direct it's a 2-3 week wait.

The black 256 GB one is readily available to pick up tomorrow at Apple Sydney, Broadway, Charleston, Highpoint, Chadstone, Doncaster, Soutland and Canberra stores among other states.

For the other colours, you may get lucky with cancelled stock at a store, but it's a wild goose chase.

Since 1986, give or take… I have dreamed of this since I was a teenager…

Ordered the same model from Telstra last week and it arrived the next day. JB Hi-Fi also had plenty of stock last week.

    • Just checked Telstra. Lot of colours still in stock. Free delivery and can buy outright.

  • Amazon is showing me it has the following models for next day delivery:

I bought 2 units from JB 2 days ago in-store, they have ready stock. No need to wait

  • not long, I got the first allocation.

  • My friend got iPhone 17 Pro Max already from Vodafone with big data plan. It's his first iphone, coming from cheap Xiaomi and Samsung phone.

  • HN theres the real issue

In my past experience most of the staff wouldnt know how to switch an Apple device on.

They seem to always have minimal stock, an to me it it smacks of, come in and we'll switch you to a higher margin product.

    • No phone has high margin and what iPhone user would switch brands off a whim?
Us and JB use the same supplier, and it’s very common for initial stock to be low.

  • Got mine from JB HiFi with no delay

  • Just get one of the model 11's they still have at a premium over the top.

  • I rang my nearest Apple Store and staff said they get random stock every day between 11am and 1pm, and the web stock indicator is accurate after that. Next day they had what I wanted so went in and picked up.

  • Well…NOT everyone. I do not know anyone waiting for an iPhone of any model.

  • I thought I wasn't the only one, because the staff showed me another waiting customer who had been waiting for more than four weeks…

  • I went to jb and placed an order. No eta, but being hopeful

  • The fact that you cancelled without having one on hold somewhere else is braindead behaviour. It’s how these launches are every year. if you want it ASAP, preorder it day 1 so you get launch stock.

    • I don't know if you're an employee of Harvey Norman, but I find your wording extremely unacceptable; you used abusive language towards a customer. I also consulted other friends, and they told me they'd also bought electronics from Harvey Norman before, but were equally disappointed, so they'll never buy electronics from Harvey Norman again. In fact, I've bought other products from Harvey Norman before, which is why I didn't choose JB HiFi this time, but if their employees call me a "braindead," I will never buy anything from Harvey Norman again.

      • I said, “braindead behaviour.” because you have no patience. You screwed yourself over by not having a backup/one on hold. I didn’t call you braindead. The store should’ve provided you a rough ETA on stock so you would have an idea. The stock is controlled by Apple, they are the ones delaying the stock. AFAIK JB and OW also use same supplier as us.

You aren’t my customer, so i’m just a random/observer in this situation. But the fact you are that butt hurt over such a mild observation is hilarious.

  • In fact, I've seen how you treat customers, even those you didn't personally serve. So, I have absolutely no enthusiasm for Harvey Norman anymore, and I will never buy anything from this store again—just look at their staff and you know what kind of store it is. Furthermore, when I placed my order, they told me it would take approximately two weeks. But three weeks have passed, and they're telling me there's no news, no possibility at all. I feel even more cheated. They told me it would take two weeks just to get my money, but after I paid and waited three weeks, they tell me there's still no news. These aren't the most unacceptable things, though. What's most unacceptable is your attitude; your attitude reflects the true nature of this store. I will not buy anything from them, and I will tell my friends.
