    No more love for citi

All Citi Credit Cards are being migrated to NAB's MyCard on 24 November 2025. I think it's best to wait until you receive your MyCard then do the transfer.

    • +3

Confusion in the FAQ section as both Citi Rewards is in both sections. Who wrote this!!:

      Who are the participating Partners:

      • American Express Card Members who are enrolled in Membership Rewards program (excludes American Express New Zealand Card Members).
      • ANZ Rewards
      • ANZ Business Rewards
      • BankSA Amplify Rewards
      • Bank of Melbourne Amplify Rewards
      • CommBank Awards
      • Citi Rewards
      • HSBC (Platinum and Premier card holders)
      • NAB Rewards
      • St.George Amplify Rewards
      • Westpac Altitude Rewards

      Which Partners are not participating?

      • Bank of Queensland Q Rewards
      • Citi Rewards
      • Card Services Rewards
      • Suncorp Credit Card Rewards
      • +1

I reckon it's a typo where they simply forgot to remove Citi Rewards from participating Partners.

I think it would be too unwieldly trying to service this Bonus program when Citi is transitioning to MyCard

Given that Citi card holders have been served the PDS/T&Cs for the new card product, with all the changes in the rewards programs from 24-Nov, I think it would make it very difficult/almost impossible to meet the bonus criteria in the month of December.

        • Agreed. I'd err on the side of caution that Citi is included, and also not assume MyCard = NAB as well.

I have a bunch of Citi rewards points and will personally be migrating them to SQ KFF next week.

  • Would Citi fall under NAB?

  • Hmmm really annoying Citi is excluded

  • Was expecting citi :(

  • Is this the best rate for Amex or do they have their own exchange rates that beats this?

    • +1

If you want Krisflyer, its better to transfer 200,000 (if you have them) direct with the current 10,000 bonus miles.

  • +1

bruv I saw your pfp and lowkey thought we had 15% off some sorta xrp buys before I read the whole title

  • Is it easy to cancel Auto Redemption if I enable it on ANZ? And if I want to transfer all points to maximize the 20% for both November and December I should be setting "every month on the 30th" option in the Auto Redeem section to do so?

  • Not applied for people with single name.. i tried to auto transfer mine but my velocity write my single name twice not match with the bank they cant change it

      • +2

Mongolian people do not have surnames, they only have given names. It's their societal norm. Last I checked, the Department of Home Affairs hasn't enacted a blanket ban on Mongolians entering Australia.

        • I totally agree with you, but I think if it were me and I was going to move overseas I would adopt a surname just for legal purposes to make my life easier.
It sucks that it’s necessary but the amount of work it would take to change a large company’s existing systems to allow mononyms makes it unlikely to ever happen.
Again, totally agree they shouldn’t need to nor want to.

        • -1

You adhere to the societal norms of the country you want to migrate to. It’s a sign of respect.

          • @WoodYouLikeSomeCash: Where did I mention the word "migration" anywhere in my post? I said, and I repeat, "the Department of Home Affairs hasn't enacted a blanket ban on Mongolians entering Australia".

If I go attend the Consumer Electronics Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, I pass through US Customs and Border Protection at LAX, take a connecting flight to LAS, and attend the convention. I'm not "migrating" to the United States.

If you want everyone to have surnames this badly, ring up Home Affairs and demand them to enact a blanket ban on Mongolians. For leisure, for work, for study, for transit. Blanket ban. They clearly don't respect our societal norms, right?

        • The Department of Home Affairs fully supports mononyms and offers clear guidance for those applying with a single name format.

Australian citizens can also choose to have no family name at all.

          Your name. Your choice.

    • That sucks man. I hope you can find a solution for stuff like this

    • My KF account has my name as First-Middle-Last while in Velocity, it was First-Last. I couldn't link KF and Velocity.

Call KF and they told I needed to correct it in Velocity to match with KF. Called Velocity and explained to them, got them fixed within 5 minutes after some ID validations.

  • Does it need to be activated? Cant find anything about that

Why are people saying Citi is excluded? It's not. Your Citi card will be migrated to NAB's MyCard, which is eligible….

    • +1

In my opinion it's pretty shaky, and inconclusive at best. I would personally lean towards Citi/MyCard not being eligible.

Firstly, I would challenge the statement that the Citi card migration is covered under NAB's eligibility. It's a different product, even if MyCard is underwritten by NAB. The Velocity page references the 'NAB Rewards' program, which is technically a different program to the 'MyCard Rewards Program' per the MyCard T&Cs. There are reasonable reasons why Citi would have been listed separately to NAB in recent years, similarly to how St George is listed separately to Westpac.

Secondly, the headline images no longer display Citi brand (it used to in the past), nor does list the incoming MyCard product. This must be a conscious omission.

Thirdly, if you scroll down to the participating/non-participating partners. I expect there's a typo in including Citi in the 15% manual transfer, but these conditions clearly specify 'NAB Rewards', and include a reference for excluding Citi Rewards.

Lastly, I suspect that MyCard might not have wanted to be involved given the complexities in determining eligibility and re-setting up the auto transfers whilst a migration is underway. I wouldn't be surprised if MyCard sat this out to focus on other things, and return to the list in the future.

      • Feel the same

And even Citi will be migrated to MyCard, it will have to be listed as "MyCard" in Velocity website instead of categorised under NAB

So pretty sure for this round of campaign, Citi (and MyCard) is unfortunately very likely to be excluded

    • If you need to transfer in both November and December, I don’t think it will be possible to do the December transfer as it won’t be from citi

  • -1

I wonder if they'll do a Qantas points buyback transfer bonus to dab on Qantas especially after the price rise.

  • -8

Velocity points has risk to expire. Credit card hasn't this concern.

    • +6

If you earn 1 velocity point in 2 years it won't expire. Unlike say Kris flyer where it expires at 3 years.

    • +3

Buy a coffee from 7/11 once a year to keep your velocity account in active

      • Only once every 2 years to keep it active. Easy to do.
Plus you get reminders emailed to you near the 23rd month advising they'll expire if you don't add points, so is near impossible to mess up :)

    • ANZ Rewards expire.

    • The points expiration notice email got buried in their commercial emails. Well, my 200k was wiped out during the COVID period, and they never cared about anyone’s situation. Anyway, I’m just sharing this to let others know about the risk.

  • A decent choice to move Amex points that are about to be downgraded shortly?

    • This is what i want to know too.

    • +2

There's no devaluation coming for Velocity Frequent Flyer points

      • +2

It's Amex points that are being devalued on 15 December, I'm not sure the best place to put them.

        • im moving 360k of mine into qatar

          • @oxutodtxtuoouxt: Any idea the points required from Sydney to Europe with Qatar points directly? I think if you buy Qatar through velocity, it’s like 75 or 80,000 velocity points I think which is pretty good to me, but I’m wondering if qatar is better.

            • +1

@grasstown: its public information. I am moving 360k to Qatar to get a return trip in business in qsuites. economy costs half that.

    • Not everything is being downgraded though, so transfer where you need, not because you might lose out on transfers fees. If they align, then great.

  • +1

So what is better if I want to do a bit of Overseas Travel? I have a fair few velocity points now but wondering if I should get some Krisflyer. Any advice welcome.

    • +1

Do you have enough Velocity points to convert to KF points for your flight?

Just do compare how many points required for your flight in either Singapore vs Virgin airlines. Then workout how many points convert from Velocity to KF points to meet that requirement.

Last year I was able pickup a returned business class to Vietnam via Singapore airlines after converted my velocity points. The same points in Velocity couldn't get any business seat for similar flight .

      • So you think it’s better just to convert my AMEX points now into Velocity and take the 20% bonus. And then convert to Krisflyer as needed?

        • Thats what i might do.
Need to do it before amex changes

        • Think it's only 15% bonus if AMEX.

          • @workhappens: 20% if you automate it for two months. (I think 😅)

            • +1

@jaypow: AMEX isn't listed under participating partners for the automation, and I think the reason for this is that there is no functionality to automate it from their website. Which is a shame because I have none of those other cards.

              NAB
              St.George"

        • +1

Yes, it's better than converting directly to Krisflyer

          • +1

@Amaris: If you have 200,000 membership rewards its better to transfer to KF today at 3:1 with a 10,000K bonus (ends today).

This is better than 2:1 to velocity plus 15% bonus and then 1.55:1 to KF

  • +1

Why are these bonus transfers never extended to Flybuys these days?

    • There’s one back in March this year

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/895603

      • They have wheeled that deal out a few times per year across the last two years but it's mostly terrible as the 15% bonus is restricted to people who have never done the auto transfer (which rules out most people).

No, I'm talking about a flat, across the board 15-20% bonus similar to the credit cards. Such deals were just routine a few years ago.

        • Such deals were just routine a few years ago.

But back then 2,000 Flybuys only got you 870 Velocity points. Now that it's 2:1 it's basically a permanent transfer bonus.

  • +2

Velocity keeps doing these weird promos where you're esssentially punished if you keep auto-transfer always on. You'd think they would go the forgotten gym membership route.

"Hey we have this feature to automatically feed everything you spend into Velocity, but don't use it outside of these months where these transfer bonuses normally show up"

Kind of defeats the purpose of auto-transfer if you have to turn it on or off even a few times a year.

  • Moved some points from Amex to velocity but still waiting for my bonus 15%. Has anyone received their bonus?

    • +3

You need to transfer at least once per month (in Nov and Dec) for the 15% bonus ie. do another transfer next month.

  • Thanks! Been waiting for this to transfer from Commbank Awards before I can close it. Hoping for a decent Flybuys promo soon

  • When converting from westpac rewards points, can I nominate my spouse's VFF number?

Also, since it requires manual transfer for both Nov and Dec, can I make Nov transfer from Westpac, then Dec transfer from Amex?

Lets say in Nov from Westpac, VFF transferred is 1000
In Dec transfer from Amex, 100 VFF pts.
So, in Dec, VFF will grant my spouse's account a bonus of 165 pts.

    Is this how it works?

    • I thought it only be transferred into a VFF account in exactly the same name, but not sure about this offer.

      • i have some westpac altitude rewards pts which will expire this month (the card was already closed) and i am thinking to transfer this to VFF.
however, i have no other cards from the participating banks to do the dec transfer requirement.
the only one i can think of is to transfer my spouse's AMEX points to my VFF, but if this is not possible then no go for me :(

unless the westpac altitude team somehow allows me to transfer the pts to my spouse's VFF instead..

        any other suggestions are welcome!

        • The only option I can think of is to opt-in for the Auto Transfer.

Will depend if the altitude rewards account (not the credit card acct that generated the points but the rewards bucket where the points sat - if that makes sense) remains open until 31 Dec.

If it does, you should get the bonus points.
