Thanks OP, perfect timing as it's on the family Christmas wish list 👍

on the family Christmas wish list

The family that blows together, stays together…

      • +18

        Maybe your family jv 🤔

        • +3

          Explains a lot

        • -5

          I use an EGO blower…

          • +1

@jv: must be very flexible 😇

      • +1

My mother in law got me a corded blower for Xmas a couple years back. I feel guilty looking at this and the one earlier to replace the corded version.

        • -2

          Then get her one…

          This one is better though….

          https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-blower-4-0ah-kit_p…

          245 km/h, 1.6kg and 4.0Ah battery vs 145 km/h, 2.1kg and 2.0Ah battery

          • @jv: You forgot the $199 vs $99 bit

          • @jv: Ummed and ahhed on the 179 one earlier. Ive got a mower and a ratchet set that fits the same battery of it…but 89 bucks less is pretty swell.

I'd really only be using it occasionally on the driveway and shit, don't need a huge load ;)

          • +1

@jv: On the ryobi website, the CFM is much lower though for the 4ah kit, 84CFM vs 200CFM. Weirdly, both air speed is listed as 145km/h, not 245km/h.

            • @Wpulsar:

On the ryobi website, the CFM is much lower though

CFM is lower but the speed is way higher….

              https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/14180/125226/blower.jp…

It's the best and fastest one for cleaning up after mowing…. Then you are better off going for higher CFM.

It's not meant for moving a mountain of leaves…

              Ryobi website says 254 km/hr

Got one today. Gave a quick test and it seems pretty powerful for the price. I think I will be happy with it.

  • +4

You'll definitely want one of those 4Ah set deals going on right now. 2Ah in a blower is going to be a short lived and/or under powering the tool quite a bit. Save the small one for a drill or impact driver.

Probably very deliberately set up this way by them too for these sales lol

    • +1

      4ah set deal?

    • 2ah just doesn't have the output for anything demanding. Using one on a drill as soon as it went under load it would cut out.

On a HP or + battery it was fine

      • +3

        That just sounds faulty imo.
I put an old 1.5er from an old kit into an impact driver and that has never cut out. Probably underpowered sure as it bogged down sometimes but never actually annoyingly cut out.

        • +2

Maybe, I just use them for the radio and torch now

        • My 2Ah battery is 1yo, and when using it on a tile saw, it cut out quite often even when it has 3-4 bars full. Meanwhile, the 5yo 4Ah never have that problem

    • The Ozito specs quote it at moving more than double the volume of air at 890m³/h vs the Ryobi's 424m³/h (250CFM). Less relevant, Ryobi 145kph vs Ozito 230kph.

    • 523cfm on the ozito

    • Depends with tools you already have…

    • It depends on which ecosystem you're already in.
I just bought that Ozito. OMG, it's incredibly powerful, more powerful than my electric Ozito Blower (when in turbo mode).
I bought it for the convenience as using corded Blower is very annoying. It comes with two 4Ah batteries and lasts long enough to blow anything that needs blowing in front and back yard on a large block of land. Very happy with it.

      • +1

That electric ozito was recalled years ago
… You can still get a refund if it's the right model.

        • Thank you. Luckily, I don't have the faulty Ozito OZBL1800WA model.

  • +6

That battery will last you a good 2 minutes

  • I have the standard one and it does a good job.

  • +1

Anyone know how it differs from the leaf blower?
My leaf blower is getting old

    • They call these workshop blowers for cleaning wood pulp off tools etc, but fine for leaves just not as powerful as the actualy "leaf blower" models which are thicc.

      • Thats what I got it for - blowing crap out of my garage that blows in under the door. Just dust and bits of grass or whatever.

Bunnings Newstead in BNE has quite a few left in the 2nd level garden section. Many other stores showing no stock.

    • This one blows jets. Engage. 😉

Seriously though, it's the same thing, they move air, this one isn't very strong but enough for a few leaves on a hard surface for a few minutes with the included battery. Don't expect to round up a pile of leaves in a large yard.

    • This one?

      https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/garden-blowers/18v-one-lea…

Wondering the same thing. I have this and it does the job but getting on. Seems above people say the Jet blower in this deal is not as strong.

    • The leaf blowers from Ryobi (I know 2 models) are attributed by higher air velocity and lower volume. The way the fan positioned in those is different (I think they called it "centrifugal", while the fan in OP's is "axial").

    • Do you happen to be referring to the 5Ah deal kit from many years ago? I'm still using that one too for the garden despite having the older model $20 deal Ozito 36V jet blower new in the box.

I do sometimes wonder if I'm just wasting effort waiting for the Ryobi to kick the bucket rather than just switching to that one.

It is not normal price, is says limited time only for November sale, even on the website link you shared.

      • -5

        It's always been this price.

        • I don't think so, will confirm once the sale is over.

    • +1

Hey now we can only say that for Aldi. Bad jv

  • ive had this blower for about 5 years - its great - the batteries (4A/h) are very good combined with the multi battery deal is a solid investment.
    Thanks Op

  • If I've gotten the multi battery deal, would

    https://www.ryobi.com.au/products/garden-blowers/18v-one-lea…

Be a better option? Is it at a good price?

  • +1

I bought the Ryobi workshop blower (supposed to do a good garden job as well according to Ryobi adverts) first but was very disappointed when using it to blow away leaves from the paving. Moist leaves would not move… Not powerful enough. ItI returned it to Bunnings and purchased Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP Brushless Cordless Garden Blower R18XBLW30 - Tool Only - Bunnings Australia https://share.google/dpUdZkfNN5BLwtBqz .

The longer nozzle (compared to the workshop blower) is closer to the ground when using it. It is also much more powerful and does a good job.

  • I got the $350 one, was $299 on clearance. It's like a tornado lol

  • "I was looking after a decent blower"

I think you mean - "I was looking for a decent blower" or "I was after a decent blower".

  • Does it suck tho?

  • This model is R18BLW42, a wide head for big areas. (around 145km/h)
I recommend the narrow head one / R18BLW24 which is more focused (245km/h) skin only is 119

How does a blower compare to powerful duster like this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/931126?

  • This or bosch green leaf blower from amazon? I have many batteries from bosch green…

  • OOS? Not in stock anywhere near me and cannot get it delivered

  • I have this exact leaf blower but was too weak so replaced with
