mother of nexus. I got mine on launch date 289 and now its 189 refurb.

    • I payed like $310 shipped on launch!!

    • +2

Thats what happens with non apple products… they lose value, and fast. Its the truth, sorry.

      • +13

It's awesome to get recent tech at bargain prices. Its disgraceful Apple props up prices so long.

        • +1

People pay for Apple because it's a fashion statement. If the prices were low it wouldn't be fashionable so they can't really drop their prices. Besides it makes people assume they are quality otherwise people might actually compare them to other models and realise they aren't as good as the average $300-400 android tablet.

Don't pin me as a hater, I love the reliability of Apple PCs and because of reliability they are perfect for business. As a techie I have to say I love Microsofts Operating systems too they provide a lot of business for IT employees i.e. viruses, driver issues, network issues, etc.

        • Your last sentence sums up the booming anti-virus and network security tech sectors very well. And that is true! People pay cheap and get cheap stuff but always end up spending more on other things to fix the cheap stuff.

        • +7

Making the statement that windows PC's have more Virus problems than apple PC's would be like Proton claiming that their cars are safer than Toyota's because less people per year die in Protons then Toyota's.

        • +2

yeah less ppl use apple, so less hacker for them …….or not worth to have ppl hacking them
try some strange own written OS program, u likely to have no virus at all?

        • I like Apple and I don't care about the fashion. I'm no fan boi either.

You still cannot beat the responsiveness, stability and security of a device from a company that makes the software and the hardware together (and a very limited number of hardware/software platform combos). You just cannot get that efficient on an OS that is to run on a huge range of hardware.

My main desktop is a PC though because I like the openess on my main power device. I'll sacrifice that for my phone in exchange for UI speed, security and stability.

        • Let's face it, viruses are from Win XP days. Win 7 on wards they're not really a problem, all it needed was an firewall and antivirus. It's easy to forget Win XP is 12 years old now.

        • brad you really speak to me, tell me more oh wise sir

        • I am a Malaysian, but good statement you have there mate!

      • I paid AU$189 (US$199) on launch, but then I bought in the US (Walmart) where you don't get ripped off. Look at the ipad mini price and tell me that isn't a bigger ripoff…

        • -1

No sales tax added? I'm sure many ipad mini owners will tell you that your nexus 7 is also a rip off.

      • well, I bought "the new iPad" on May and look whats happened to it.

  • tempting..

  • +1

Tempting it is, even though I don't need it.

  • I am very tempted on this…. tough call :)

    • +3

Tough call cause it's from ebay vendor?

      • +1

tough call b/c it is $190 and there may be a new version coming out in the next couple of months with more or less the same price points.

        • huh really? Details where you read something about that?

        • +4

well, mostly rumors, but word is there will be a new one out in the begining of this year.
          http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/12/20/google_nexus7_rumors…
I don't buy that lower price. And I wouldn't trust that single website but if you google new nexus 7 word is there will be one in 1-4 months.

          who knows

        • +6

With technology you will be waiting forever! for the next best thing!.. if you want one now then its worth it.. if not then you probably dont need or want the next one coming out in 1-4 months

        • +1

The next Nexus 7 will have Full HD screen and thinner. Release in May at Google I/O.

        • +1

          That is only a rumour.

        • +3

full-HD would be nice on a bigger screen, but on a 7"… meh.

An SD card slot, and non-crippled 3G would be much more interesting.

        • You make a good point. I have used the nexus in the past and my complain has always been with the screen. The ones I have used seem to be a bit flickery at low brightness settings which is critical as I hope to use it as an e-reader a lot.

        • QUAD CORE CPU at this price from GOOGLE? End of the year, maybe! ASUS and ACERs have lower end tablets at $190-$199 which are just released! The price for an entry level forthcoming Nexus tablet will always be similar except the specs. So you can either wait till the new ones come out and pay a bit more for the better specs and features. I think it's a good price for anyone who wants to give it a try with a Nexus device.

        • Full HD on a 7" screen! I think that might just blow my mind. I should get 4 of them and try daisy chaining them with Display Ports, take them out of their cases and glue them together :P

  • very good price

  • This Aus Stock though?

      Hi Spectator,

These tablets are from ASUS Australia :)

  • Hi Rep

    • Hi Kev go westie,

Unfortunately, we do not provide pickup service.

      Cheers

  • Definitely a great deal

after dealing with asus warranty am not game. not saying their products are bad but their attitude is.

    • Really? Is it the same as asus laptop warranty. Cos I've been very happy with the 2 times I had to send my lappy back to the auburn repair center.

  • +1

    Good deal

  • +9

Damn, Ozbargain - Ebay - Paypal. 3 clicks to another impulse purchase!

    • +3

You really should set up SMS verification for Paypal. It's a good free security feature.

      • good advice just added my mobile!

      • +1

        thanks, didn't know that.

Will now get a re-assuring 'ping' to confirm my impulse purchases!

      • cheers… did not know this existed. added to my account…

      • I already get notifications of PayPal purchases on there - pushed out by the PayPal app, but I've just formally linked my phone on account of your post. Is the feature you're talking about the "security Key" you can activate.

I expect it means when you purchase you get sms'd a code which to have you input to verify the transaction - like what some banks do for new transfers online.

Is that what you're referring to?

        • Yes.

        • Yes but. You can still answer some security questions if you don't have you phone with you, which kinda bothers me because I'd like to enforce the SMS.

  • +1

Hi Rep, do you provide invoice? Is the battery also replaced when refurnished?

    • +1

Asus do replace the battery on refurb!

    • -2

      Hi aldoduco,

An invoice will be sent to you from ebay.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not provide us with any details regarding the refurbishment of the tablet. However, if you decide to purchase one and find there are problems with it thereafter, you can directly contact the manufacturer :)

      • Can you provide a Tax Invoice?

        • Hi jackofspade,

My apologies, if you would like a tax invoice, please request it from our customer service team after your purchase. :)

      • The issue is, when you contact the manufacturer they want a tax invoice from the business entity where you bought the item from. That also means the ABN number. They dont care about the market place (i.e. eBay) itself.

It is like, they dont care if you buy from shopping centre A or B, they want the shop details.

      • +20

All fortunes aside - as the seller you are responsible for any warranty claims and questions pertaining to the product before/after the sale. You can't tell buyers to go and contact the manufacturer if there is a problem. You're the one who has to oversea the warranty process as this is the responsibility you take on as a vendor. If you aren't prepared to do so you shouldn't sell the product at all.

You can ask MSY how their "contact the manufacturer" style of warranty processing worked out for them a couple years ago.

        • +1

          Completely agree!

        • +1

100% Correct you need to take responsibility.

        • That's true, although for many items I usually prefer dealing direct with the manufacturer's agents if they're nearby or have a free mail-in service. It'll usually be quicker than sending it to the store who'll send it back to the same warranty repair agent.

  • When will it be shipped ?

    • -2

      Hi Covert,

      Please disregard the previous reply.

If you make a purchase, please allow 3~8 business days for delivery after the item is dispatched.
I apologise for the confusion. Cheers :)

  • -1

Hello Rep, are the batteries 'refurbished' like Apple refurbished products? i.e. new batteries? Do you provide a receipt or tax invoice? Thanks.

    • +1

Not sure about batteries but the rep has posted this before in this thread:

You will receive a tax invoice from ebay :)

      • +1

        Thx

        • Hi houpaeng,

I have edited my post regarding the tax invoice. I apologise for the confusion. Cheers :)

    • You'd hope it has new batteries, being priced so close to new, but given how recently the Nexus 7 was released, I would not worry too much.

      • "…being priced so close to new"

I don't think more that 25% off Google's price for a new one is all that close in price…

  • Also, is the case also replaced like Apple refurbished? Cheers

    • +1

      Hi kodoq,

Unfortunately, we did not receive details regarding the refurbishment of the tablet. But if there are any problems with the tablet after your purchase, you can directly contact the manufacturer.

      Cheers :)

      • +4

Hi ozplaza, when vendor says contact the manufacturer in case of any issues, alarm bells start ringing. What happes if item fails or develops a fault within 7 or 10 days after receiving. I would exepct seller or retailer to take responsibility and arrange for replacement in that case. Same for warranty repairs.

        • +2

Also lists all ebay sales as private sales so buyer cannot identify feedback to items sold. I am always weary of sellers who try to hide behind private sales, what are they trying to hide?

      • what period of time do you allow a device to fail and take responsibility? I mean if it's dead on arrival you'd take responsibility wouldn't you? how much further than that? 1 hour? 1 day? 1 week? 1 month? 1 quarter?

  • Does anyone know, if I take this to NZ in march will I get my GST refunded?

    • +1

buy 2 and you can get the gst back

  • Hi ozplaza,

    Do you ship overseas?

My girlfriend is currently in Spain for work, she was looking to buy one but they aren't sold there.

  • +1

How quickly will you be shipping orders out?
    Do you supply any tracking?
    Is it via Australia Post?
(Just asking as I've ordered one and trying to figure out when it would be delivered, as I'm home off and on next week. No complaints if I get it Friday/Saturday….found I've been getting ebay deliveries on Saturday quite a lot these days)

    • details on ebay listing have Estimated between Mon. 11 Feb. and Mon. 18 Feb

    • Hi Spectator,

      Thank you for your purchase!
The item will be posted via Australia Post and a tracking number will be provided.
Please allow 3~8 business days for delivery after the item is dispatched.
      Cheers :)

  • Was just looking into getting the N7 recently… now I'm tempted.

  • wondering how much is the normal price=)

    • $249 + shipping

      • that's normal price for a new one

    • I bought 32GB from Officeworks I'm store for $249

  • Cheapest on static ice $241 + add Delivery cost ontop of that price!
    http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=nexus+7+16g…

you can walk into a biglee and pick one up for $258.00

this deal of $190 free shipping is a great price

    • +3

those ones are new, this one is a refurb

  • +2

I got a refurb as my original one broke. I opened up the back and boy do they make a mess of everything!

  • +2

so fackin tempting, but can I justify it?

  • @ ozplaza - can you provide specific info on the warranty? Your ebay page warranty doesn't mention ASUS, so I assume it is just your default ebay item warranty. Is there a document with the warranty terms and conditions available? thanks

    • There is a mention of 1 year ASUS warranty under features.

      • yep thanks, but I want to know the terms and conditions of this.

    • -3

      Hi J1,

      I apologise for the delay.
Unfortunately, we do not have the warranty terms and conditions available.
However, provided you have the tax invoice with our ABN and the serial number of the item, you are able to claim warranty from the manufacturer. You can request a tax invoice from our customer service team after your purchase.

In the case where the tablet appears to be faulty/defective, we believe it is best to contact the manufacturer. However, we are always more than happy to assist if you have any other problems.

      Thanks :)

      • Not always the case. Samsung for instance do not warrant any items purchased on ebay. I know from experience with a Samsung phone.

  • Need to decide if I want a 7" or get another 10" tablet - those who've owned 7" tablets - this or iPad mini - do you feel it gives you enough screen real estate for most things.

    This or iPad mini better?

    • I've been dwelling on the same dilemma for the past 2 months. I think I've given in to the 7.

    • +1

I think 7" has enough screen real estate - however your mileage may vary.
The iPad mini - while slightly larger (and squarer) - is a lower resolution so there's less real estate.

If you can afford it, and want 10" then go for the Nexus 10.

    • +1

Let me pre-empt this by saying I have a 10" Samsung Android tablet and use an Android phone.

I had to purchase a mini tablet for someone before christmas and settled on the iPad mini as the better option (the person in question absolutely needed a rear camera, which the nexus 7 does not have).

After using the little critter, I've come to the conclusion that it is a much better option as long as you can live in Apple land.
      The main reasons are:
      - Rear camera
      - Perfect size (very thin, screen size is just right)
      - Higher build quality
      - Much better app environment for tablets
      - Like an iPad, only smaller (all tablet apps display correctly and function perfectly)
      - The screen is excellent (great colours and balance) despite the lower resolution
      - When browsing internet, information is easier to read without zooming constantly

Having said all that, the nexus 7 in this deal is much cheaper.
Also worth noting that the wifi only version of the mini doesn't have GPS.
The Nexus 7 can be (with cached maps) an excellent car navigation device, which the mini cannot be. So if you want that functionality the decision is easy.

Overall though, my main discovery is how much better 7 to 8 inch tablets are compared to the bulkier 10 inch ones.

@ ozplaza - could you respond to the above comment by Third_Gear:
