Life of Pi - Kindle Edition - 20p Save 7.79 - UK only

70

One boy, one boat, one tiger … After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, a solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild, blue Pacific. The only survivors from the wreck are a sixteen year-old boy named Pi, a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orang-utan – and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. The scene is set for one of the most extraordinary and best-loved works of fiction in recent years.

Now a major motion picture.

Edit: Not available to Australia…. #$%^!
Can anyone recommend a workaround?

I'd recommend this. I haven't yet seen the movie, but the book was brilliant.

  • requires UK amazon account.

    • as in, UK amazon account with a UK address..and possibly going through a uk proxy.

      • Tunnel Bear (http://www.tunnelbear.com/) is a good free proxy client. I wouldn't think it hard to find a UK address.

      • I had no need to use proxy, just UK issued CC.

They've got a book out already? Sheesh the movie merchandising these days :p

pretty sure the movie was based on the book

      • the movie is much better than the book (at least far better than the audiobook)

    • Yeh, the book was first.

      Too subtle? For some obviously.

    • They usually have action figures first before books

  • Doesn't work on my US account either :-(

For buying with US/UK in case you didn't know:
    - use normal amazon account to buy an email delivered gift card of the amount you need (USD)
    - use proxy from proxy.com to create new US/UK Amazon account (need an address)
    - buy book using gift card code
    - deliver to device logged in with US/UK account
    - (optional) if you like to leave your kindle device alone do what i do - deliver it to iphone app then extract the azw file using iphoneexplorer then chuck it on your kindle device

bit of a pain but sometimes necessary if the book you want isn't available :/

    • Thanks for the workaround.

  • They also have 'The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared' which is excellent for 20p

    www.amazon.co.uk/Hundred-Year-Old-Climbed-Window-Disappeared…

In fact there are many books for 20p right now.

(Ordered without issue but I do have a UK CC linked to my account and set as my 1Click preferred card)

  • its a very boring book. dont assume it will be as attractive as the movie

I struggled to finish this book and I am an avid reader with a broad taste. It is unimaginative and the narrative style is ineffective in conveying any real sense of urgency, despair or even joy. Whilst the body of the book drags, the conclusion feels rushed and incomplete. 20p is an appropriate price point.

  • Hmm.. I am also an avid reader with a broad taste, and I loved the book. The ending was so unexpected it had me rereading much of the book and pondering the psychological implications of the mystery island.
The book is not a major work of fiction, nevertheless it is an entertaining read.
