    what's the code?

if it requires a purchase of the paper and the codes aren't unique, this is not a freebie…

    • With all of the codes now found out, shouldn't this be tagged as a freebie again?

  • code please!!!

Last time, this is good. Someone kindly updated code everyday for us.

  • +1

I'm sure someone will post the code here but if not, my local library (City of Yarra) allows you to read all of the newpapers online via http://library.pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/viewer.aspx Just need to enter your library card in there. The Australian is released at 4AM, so if anyone is awake they can check for the code.

The first book (Saturday 9/2) is "Black Caviar" by Gerard Whateley. Enter the code "GW14500" (without quotes) at theaustralianselection.com.au to download it.

    • Thanks for the code Maxlawman.

Mod, perhaps you should put the GW14500 code into the OP so it's easier to find for others, they'll need it to get today's ebook.

    Worked OK, thanks to OP

    Worked for me too.

Near the bottom of the linked page is a section that shows what the 7 free ebooks are.

The ebooks are DRMed so you'll need to use a the Kobo App or Adobe Digital Editions if you want to read them on your computer.

  • Thanks for the post and code.

  • Just downloaded and installed. Code works great. Hopefully a
couple of great books to come.

  • Thanks. Code worked well. Suppose it doesn't work with Kindle so now have to download the Kobo app for iPad.

  • based on a post by melmac77 in the previous deal you may need to do the following

Just a heads up if you are getting these books Kobo are implementing a new checkout called Quick Buy using this checkout does not give you the option to enter Promo codes. When you buy a book you are given the option to use standard checkout but they are defaulting the tick box to quick buy for the next time you purchase so look for the box and tick it off then, or you can go to your account settings and turn it off there.

Looks an interesting set of books, like last time. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to post the new codes each day like they did last time :)

FWIW: The Code Book: The Secret History of Codes and Code-breaking. By: Simon Singh (Wednesday 13/2) is an excellent read if you are interested in maths and/or cryptography.

  • Thanks Worked !
Only wish it was DRM free.

    Oh god not Gerard Whateley!
He jacks off every time Black Caviar is mentioned.

  • Can't see the place to enter the code. Is this applicable for Kindle on mobile apps?
    thanks in advance :)

    • It's not readable in the Kindle App unless you remove the DRM and convert it to mobi otherwise you can use the Kobo mobile app to read it. There should be a line of pink text in the Kobo checkout on the lowere left stating "Have a gift card or promo code? Use it here" click on it and the promo code box will appear.

  • Thanks op. A biography of a horse is always a winner with me.

Thanks so much OP and everyone.

Got all the books above so far with codes.

Using Kobo on a Samsung Galaxy S2

At first I had a lot of trouble downloading the books and almost gave up until I read RockyRaccoons advice above.

The following should apply to most Android mobile phones once you install the Kobo App.

Tried to make this easy for the non-tech savvy.

    Make sure you:

    1. Install Kobo App.
    2. Register for Kobo account.
    3. Go into settings in the App by clicking your phone's menu key.
    4. Uncheck Quick Buy option.
    5. Search for title name in Kobo App.
    6. Click buy
    7. Enter promo code.
    8. Click buy.
    9. Click your back button and you should see the book downloading.
    10. Open your Kobo and enjoy your books.

I think it's hilarious that the News Corp masters of phone hacking have had this promotion so completely hacked by Ozbargainers.

The Australian's marketing team will either be giving birth or laying eggs once they see the codes here.

Also - I think the default Quick Buy option in the App is a sneaky marketing trick.

With Quick Buy on - and no promo code option showing in the App - people who don't know - and aren't advised in any information from The Australian - how to turn off Quick Buy - may then be tempted to actually enter their credit card details to buy the book.

Result: Extra book sales for Kobo. I wonder if News Corp gets a cut of those sales?

I had thought that Kobo was a News subsidiary but, according to Wikipedia, it's not:

The company is owned by Rakuten, Inc. in Japan. Kobo was sold to Rakuten on 8 November 2011 and the transaction closed 11 January 2012.

I wonder how many extra books Kobo has sold because people don't know how to disable Quick Buy so they can enter the promo code?

    • Codes can & do EXPIRE…

      "Sorry
      Your promo code has expired."

      (Monday's & Tuesday's book, today)

Code for What Would Google Do?
    code - JJ09100

    • Sweet, it worked! I've got all the ebooks now! Muahahahahahah!!!

      Thanks OP & code providers!

      • I got all the eBooks too but all books beyond today show up as "Free Preview". I hope they will turn into complete books as the week progresses.

        • To download a book, click on it to (also) open it for reading…

  • Hey alvian please follow the instructions above.

    Maybe the codes weren't accepted.

    Got all full versions.

    • An hour later all books turned into full versions. All good now.

Take a guess at which 7 books are currently numbers 1 to 7 on the Kobo top 50 list. There are no prices.

Thanks for updating the thread with the daily codes.

You professionals are amazing! I was worried I might forget about it one day and miss a book, but now that I've got all the books downloaded I don't need to worry anymore!

    OzBargain is awesome :)
