180

It's the second Terabyte Tuesday from NewsgroupDirect in 2013 and it's even cheaper. 1 TB or 1.1 TB with headers of block usenet. Doesn't expire until you use it all up.

Starts 3 pm today (12/02/13) AEDST and finishes 3 pm tomorrow.

Quote from the horse's mouth,
"The Best Way To Get Your Usenet

Ready to jump into usenet? Looking for an alternative to monthly fees? Terabyte Tuesday is what you've been waiting for. Today only we're giving you 1 Terabyte (Over 1,000 Gigabytes) of access for only $38!

Our 1 Terabyte block includes all of our best features and is activated instantly.

Over 1550 Days of Retention
50 SSL-Encrypted Connections
No Expiration Date
No Monthly Fees"

For those who use indexers to search usenet, there has been growth lately in what is available since the demise of earlier options like NZBMatrix. With apologies to Mark Twain, the reports of usenet's death have been greatly exaggerated.

I have also found that takedown notices are reacted to less quickly with NewsgroupDirect than with some others I have tested.

My affiliate link is below. It won't cost you any extra but it will keep me in usenet blocks.

Bit hard to download on Astra these days with their automated DMCA takedowns. Alot of the decent shows are pulled within a few minutes of hosting.

very easy to download on Astra. you're doing it wrong

        • I know perfectly well how to use Usenet, ive been on it since you were in diapers. If you read what i posted you cant beat the automated DMCA takedowns now on astra, only way you can beat it is to use another provider.

so then you'd know that word based automatic DMCA notices dont mean anything, if you were so educated :)

2 broke girls = bitches.with.no.money.rar, etc. among other names.

Because manual searching is the latest craze. I use automation, scripting, im not going to manually search for files and mess up my filing system when i can automate the lot with another provider.

        • -1

manual searching is what usenet is all about, downloading headers, searching/scanning through data.

using sickbeard will come to a slow grind. People thinking another shitty Highwinds reseller is going to save them from DMCA has another thing coming.

          as do you.

I only use astra, works fine for all tv shows I watch.

    • Yeah, not everyone likes to do 1TB+ of downloading per month.

Personally I use 50GB a month at most. Which means this sort of thing can last me a couple of years.

    • You have no idea colashock. A lot of us DL smaller amounts, this is a great deal for us.

      • I don't see how anyone can constantly do 1TB a month.

        • +3

Check the posted supermarket deals, the 1TB a month OzBargainers buy up when tissue and moisturising lotion are on special

        • If colashock is a teenager, i know what category of downloads he will be going for…….

ha ha, beat me too it

pity i'm 29 and know how the internet works. the category you should be going for is alt.binaries.self-help-books-for-dummies

          BURN!

  • I'm using Newsleecher. $8 a month or so for the first 3 months. You get unlimited transfers, SSL, 1700 days retention… I love it. Plus I get to use their supersearch feature, which is just awesome.

  • what's a good free news reader to use for this ?

    • -3

the only bible bashers in this thread will tell you its newsleecher, grabit or another binary focused client. so while going to church doesnt excuse you from pirated software.

you asked a relevant question, I HATE YOU</sarcasm>

  • What's all this USENET fuss?

Is it "Legal" websites for downloading "Legal" files?

    • -1

      legal websites for illegal files

  • are their files more complete than astraweb? Seem to be a lot of failed d/l latetly on some of the more popular, err… linux distro's.

    • They're a Highwinds reseller, so it'll be no different.

So what does everyone use now that nzbmatrix is dead? and how do I get an invite? :)

    • When you find out let me know :) I'm not all that enthralled with my current solution
