Why no black? I really want this phone but don't want a white one.

    • I'm in the same boat, black is sexier than white, but amazon are for some reason not shipping to Australia, but the price is so cheap that I can pass the offer, and white still has some sex appeal

  • Wish I had waited before I bought the TX, although I'm still enjoying using it!

  • Very mixed reviews, the speaker is next to useless, Battery life poor (maybe not HTC poor)

isnt the cheapest price out there but the amazon credit is cool, cheapest price ive found for black is: $632.826 including shipping @ Handtec http://www.handtec.co.uk/sony-xperia-z-et964-black.html

Handtec is cheaper if you are not a regular amazon buyer, but common we are on ozbargain here, who doesn't use amazon?

    • +2

Thanks! I'm going to get it off Handtec since they have the Xperia in black and the DK26 charging dock :)

      • Ordered my one from HandTec a while back for £438.99 with FedEx priority shipping (I paid in Sterling so no fee/conversion etc).

Edit: I would however buy it from Amazon now… if for nothing else but easier returns…

Picture quality looks terrible. More pixels just means more noise really.

    • not sure if neg happy or butthurt

Sony will most likely provide the 13mp sensors for upcoming gen of phones (just like the sony sensor in the SGS3 and IP4). I just hope its sony's lack of experience with lenses and not just a below par sensor thats the making the S3 photos look better.

      • Oh, I thought you meant the "Picture Quality" (443 PPI),

      • You did NOT just say they have no experience with lenses.
My RX100 is almost equal to my 5D MK3 in terms of quality…

        • Shoot them with the same lense (a cannon lense not a tamron or sigma) and i guarantee you DOF and sharpness can easily be distinguished. Original resolutions and not cropped for facebook or w/e people use to upload pics.

If they still look the same to you, then get your eyes checked maybe.

I thought the 13mp in my Xperia S was pretty average and it is no comparison to even my lowly Canon 650D . Even with off brand lenses it's Sharpness , Bokoh , iso etc.. . Everything quality is measured in apart from mere pixels , a phone camera sucks . But yeah for facebook and the odd 6x4 they are acceptable .

Are you seriously comparing the camera on a phone to a DSLR?

        • that too a 17mp DSLR that cost about the same as the whole phone, and don't even know what lens he is using with it.

  • meh, it won't take long after it is released for the price to plumet from the rrp

    • I don't believe that it'll drop below $650 within 6 months

      • depend if this is really a good phone….
if it's a so-so phone, the price will have a huge drop within 3 months!
if it's a good phone, you still get to buy this phone around this price anyway….

Good find, Op! Does anyone here know what the warranty's like if purchased from Amazon? Any hassle if something goes wrong with the phone?

    • +2

Knowing Sony you'll have to pay to have it assessed by one of their authorised service centres and then they'll claim the fault is not covered under their warranty.

      • Kinda agree with you!

My friend bought a lappie last year from the local Sony Centre and still experienced huge trouble trying to get it repaired, let alone replaced.

Makes me wonder if buying overseas or local seem to make no difference?!?

        • Buy it from a phone company is my plan…

  • Awesome phone, awesome find. I've been trying to look for a cheap deal on this phone for few weeks already. Thanks for the post.

  • How do you get the 50 pound voucher?

  • +1

Black is now shipping to Australia for $30 cheaper and with £50 Voucher

  • w00000 Black works now!

  • Cancel my clove order and order amazon one, don't really need the speaker and it will be hard to sell for $50 on ebay I think.

  • If anyone's after the HTC One, there's also a promotion running for that too. Pre-order and get an "HTC Media Link" thing for free (apparently sells for 59 pounds). While I'd rather a voucher myself, it's something to consider. Works out to be 446 pounds (~$650) all up.

  • If you happen to have Sony X membership, it's available for just under $600 shipped from within Aus from Sony.

  • Black seems to have increased in price to 524.99GBP from 499GBP.

  • bought a black one for 515 pounds with 28 degree card yesterday. This morning I received a call from 28 deg card to verify a payment of A$653

The Amazon Currency Converter is a rip-off, having it turned on I would've been charged A$681. Now I'm waiting for the shipping and 50 pound credit
