    Can expert please enlighten me how 'slow' the 830 is compared to 840 Pro? I mean, how slow can a SSD be?

    Need to justify the extra cost.

          For starters it's $120 cheaper. It's also considered one of the most reliable SSDs ever made. The 840 Pro should be just as good, but hasn't been on the market as long. The differences in performance are unnoticeable outside of benchmarks, these are all very fast drives.

    I wonder how many SSDs does an average Ozbargainer own. If ShoppingExpress does another sale in a month's time at a new price point, do you all go purchase another one?

      It is not overkill as it can increase the speed by a few times. Gadgets depreciate quick so just consider the one you can use in 6 months to 1 year, by that time you can get much better successors at similar price.
