Since its all in Dutch what the freck is it?

      use google chrome auto translate

Its a tablet apparently has good reviews for artists that like drawing in detail

if you have to ask, you don't need it

      • +3

No, if its on OzBargain you need it.

  • Amazing how samsung x86 tablets also use wacom hardware for the same price as this monitor. But then again, this will have double/triple the pressure levels of the tablets.

    • ridiculous comparison (and you even pointed it out yourself). apples to oranges.

      • -7

Comparing digitizer screens is apple to oranges now?

      • He does have a slight point though. Some tablets (eg. nexus 10) come with sharp, rich, high resolution displays that you would be hard pressed to find a stand alone screen at the same price. The MS Surface is driven by an inbuilt Wacom digitizer which an equivalent stand alone one would be priced in the hundred/s.

        • Hmm, somehow I doubt someone looking for a drawing tablet for detailed illustration/photoshop/professional graphic design work would seriously consider buying a Nexus 10/Surface/iPad instead of a Cintiq screen such as this.

          Here's a counter-point;

Penny Arcade - The MS Surface Pro
"With that said, if I had about a grand to spend and I was looking at a Cintiq, I’d say the Surface Pro is a much better purchase than the 12WX Cintiq. The 64gb Surface Pro and the 12” Cintiq are about the same price but with the Surface, not only are you getting a fantastic drawing tablet that you can take with you wherever you go, it’s also a fucking computer!"

        • I just logged in to post almost exactly what you just did :)

          So, err…. what jebozb said.

          +1.

        • Finally, someone who gets my comparison. Id rather have a 1080p screen (ativ pro) than this. Professionals wouldn't be looking at this, they'd be buying the bigger cintiqs.

  • What about tilt, pressure, nibs, pen type etc. apples and oranges

    • +2

The Samsung slate S7 (best tablet pc with Wacom IMO) has 256 levels of pressure, this has 2048. Most other Wacom pads have 1024. So no contest for really enthusiastic artists, but the slate draws just fine for plebs like me :)

but tablets can do the same thing? Just the monitor will do a better job at pressure sensitivity, while the tablet doubles as a….tablet. Its not apples vs oranges.

      • +1

It's like saying my pocket PC from 2001 will do the same thing. They're completly different. Even a bamboo tablet blows the slate away.

  • I have one of these, and they're amazing, but the aforementioned lack of portability tends to make it feel rather old in the age of slim portable tablets.

I would love to update to a tablet that includes the same Wacom technology. The ability to be able to sketch and draw whilst watching TV in the living room would be worth the price alone.

Have a read of the Penny Arcade review, even if you are not a fan of MS, the Surface, or drawing tablets - it stands on its own as an example of a great review of technology equipment, just happens to be a graphic artist reviewing the Surface Pro against his pre-existing Cintiq

  • A month ago there was a Yiynova distributor selling a cheaper alternative than this for $750. Has the 2048 levels of pressure and tilt. Only thing it does not have is the express keys and the touch strip. But on the plus side it's much larger at 19" than 12".

The resolution even for a pro illustrator is average and dare I say poor. But I will admit i see these 2nd hand selling for $700 minimum. The extra $142 for warranty helps.

Btw, I think tablet pcs at 256 levels of pressure are comparable. My lenovo x220t is great for drawing and more comfy to use than a 12wx. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t253/everdri/100201302100… .

I just wish people are more informed when offering their opinions. Wacoms are damn good but they are also very overpriced and tablet pcs like the Samsung slate 7 and the Lenovo x220t / x230t offer a different option.
