Saw this in focalprice, i couldn't find any results on staticice but this does look pretty cheap. Please note its $15.45 USD but the price in the title was correct (in AUD) at the time of posting.

According to a moderator on the Focalprice.com website this Is NOT sony - so have removed the Sony reference from the title. Suggest you read the following comments by our members before buying this -that way if you do buy you know what it is,

Deal is left up as

  1. It maybe suitable for some.
  2. The comments by members are valuable and should be available to read. (removing a post makes comments unavailable)
  3. Bargains are NOT always as they seem. Use commonsense and caution with those too good to be true

  • Looks like fake to me, the 8 gig colour shown is blue. but for a fake one 23.50 is still cheap……….a plus from me

  • focalprice is well known for fakes… 99% chance that sony memory stick is also a fake.

  • Yep a clone for sure, not bad value but read\write speed is not up to par as rthe real deal, I bought a few from dealsextreme and loading time on my psp sucks compared to my real sandisc 4Gb, Still a good deal if you dont mind suffering a bit of loading time in games, should be fast enough for movies\MP3\pics.

The worst thing comes to the fake memory stick is that there is possibility the capacity is fake too. ie. can't really store 8GB of data (sometimes it can be 4GB).

  • it's definitely fake…not surprising being from china

i've bought from there before and they sell fakes….and yeah the capacity is much less or it may hold 8GB but your camera or PSP won't detect half the stuff once you go over 4GB for example.

you're not going to find a genuine one for $23.50

I can't believe people that saying it's fake but yet voted positive !!!

Since when you're condoning piracy ???

    Unbelievable !!

  • enjoy your CRC errors and fake memory sticks.

  • Fair enough. I just didnt think that focalprice/dealextreme had the 'cheek' so to speak to sell fakes, as they are rather well known sites, and prosecution is inevitable?

    • wrong. DealExtreme is the more established e-commerce site while focalprice is just dodgy copycat.

Just search on focalprice previos listing here at ozbargain and see the mountain of red votes.

Dealextreme do fakes and clones as well. Plenty of them.

        • dealextreme have plenty of fakes and knock offs, and i've been using a fake 4Gb card in my psp for a while. no issues yet.

but i've never tried buying from this site before.

i think elcheapo has something against them, or is a really big fan of dealextreme.

  • i bought some fakes before, and it was not worth the money.
transfer delay is sooooooo slow and after a few uses, data can easily corrupt and cant be used again.

it's not just fakes that I am concern about.

This is a community based forum for sharing bargain and I am afraid these kind of posting would put OzBargain in difficult position.

  • Sorry about grinding my axe here, but that's exactly the reason why I don't want to buy memory cards knowing it's fake. I've got quite a few cards from eBay before, and the problems were

    • Only have 1/2 the capacity as what's on the label
    • Increasing IO-error over time — you might never be able to retrieve what you have saved
    • Very slow (and inconsistent) speed
    • And the worst of all, by buying those fake cards, it's actually encouraging those shops to rip off the well established brand name

It's more than "not worth the effort" — that would be buying cheap no-name brand memory cards. But buying cheap fake Sandisk/Sony memory cards is just wrong…

  • I hate fakes!
