AshamWow wasn't as good as I thought it's be. In fact it bites (that's a 1 per center)

    It's not worth it.

All office software lacks perfect compatibility with office. Whether that is microsoft's fault for not following their own standards (probably is quite often) or the third party software maker's fault is another matter.

If you're going to go 3rd party, may as well use openoffice.

    My 2c. Opinions?

I prefer to go with Libre, but whatever.

LibreOffice is streets ahead of OpenOffice. I wouldn't be surprised to find that Ashampoo was a branded copy of OpenOffice anyway.

    • For basic users it's alright. It might screw up the formatting of certain documents and render incorrectly but if all you need it for is school work or situations where preserving the integrity of the document is unimportant then go for it.

I don't agree. I've found OpenOffice / LibreOffice can screw up formatting a lot but Kingsoft Writer doesn't. The problems with Kingsoft are that it's a mission to change the dictionary language and it won't save to .docx format. I'm willing to spend my $0 to try Ashampoo and see if it's better.
