I dont know why all the windows 8 phones has lower spec than android mobile yet the price still same or higher. That really makes windows phone less attractive.

    • +3

Could say the same for the iphone

i dont know the cpu/gpu performance on iphone, but some of high graphic games are only on ios.

And look at the windows phone, Dual-core Krait, Adreno 225 and 1GB ram?

        • Still a Snapdragon S4. That Adreno 225 still has enough grunt for decent games. Basically the same chipset that is in certain US versions of the GS3. Although, I do agree with you on the pricing; it doesn't really entice people who might consider such a phone/OS.

Microsoft doesn't want to play the specifications race. That's why their new phones aren't neccessarily packing the most cutting edge CPU's or having the most RAM or internal memory.

However given the lower specifications you would expect a lower price. Or at least put in an LTE chip..

It takes less processing power to run Windows 8 smoothly than it does to run Android

    • +1

      Android/win8/ios.

The attractiveness depends on the way you interact with the phone….

      • The way I interact with my phone depends on how attracted I am to it. I mean if it's not there, it's just not there. =P

    • The OS doesn't need it. Android is a "fat" OS and even with quad core CPUs runs worse than WP8 on dual-core.

  • I would recommend the 920 over this, more features under the hood for the cost

    • +1

Or just save yourself a pile of cash and get a Galaxy S3

      • If you'd used Windows Phone 8 you'd never recommend Android. The GUI of WP8 is perfection.

        • +1

Ive used WP8 and still find android (and even iOS) better. Widgets > live tiles, more information, more customisation, more interaction. WP8 feels like Nokia's old symbian OS and I wasn't impressed about having everything listed in a vertical list.

Unless you need to have perfect sync with apps and your W8 device, there really isn't anything good with W8. Considering the app market is small aswell

        • +1

I have used WP7 and 8 and Android and at the moment I simply couldn't recommend WP over an Android device.

Windows Phone isn't terrible, the UI is quite smooth and the tiles are an interesting concept however It just doesn't offer nearly as much interaction or customization that widgets offer in Android…

Also WP8 relies on you using the tiles to get any kind of notifications, there is no notification center or anything… and I haven't even seen a WP8 Phone with a notification LED yet, The Luma 920 doesn't have one and even the HTC 8X's LED only indicates things like charging and doesn't provide notifications…

There are a ton of other little annoyances too, IE is painful, the app eco-system is still very small compared to Android and iOS, some of the apps take a surprisingly long time to load and like android in its early days some of the apps were really poorly built, Skype for one is a shocker on WP8.

Windows Phone just feels like an incomplete product that in some areas feels nice but in others is a few steps behind the competition.

And Android has really come into its own since ICS (4.0), and there are so many beautiful handsets out there now… the HTC One X, Nexus 4 and Galaxy S 3 are all beautiful phones… and I can't wait to play with some of this years flagship deivces like the S4, Xperia Z and HTC One. At this stage in the game I can't see any good reason to go Windows Phone over a flagship android device.

        • Nice summation, the only thing that gets me wondering is your comment

and I can't wait to play with some of this years flagship deivces like the S4, Xperia Z and HTC One.

I tend to buy a phone to use it for at least 3-4 years, after that I have no interest in looking at another until 3-6 months out before buying the next one.

But as an ozbargainer, I guess I am cheap.

Sounds like phones are part of your profession or passion. ;)

        • I have an android tablet and 2 iphones (used as iPods) and a windows phone. The windows phone is hands down more usable and intuitive. I still lol at the "Small App market" comments. There is well over 120,000 apps on the market..how many do you need?

  • Nokia is dedicated windows. Samsung just gives another offer. No doubt they spend more r&d on sgs android

If it runs windows 8 full then I am sold!

I'm a firm believer that Windows 8 RT isn't a windows… It may look like one, but it is only a imposter.

    • +3

You know you are talking non sense right

    • Same kernel architecture.

  • Why must every Windows Phone deal devolve into essentially a "WP sucks" thread. And people think there are paid MS shills hyping WP..

    • Because since religion and footy is on the nose, people have to find some other TEAM to belong to… LOL
