How is the build quality on these? Would they possibly be able to support a person sitting on top of it? (understandably they wouldn't be as strong due to the storage factor)
got 2 of these black ones at home, pretty sturdy when i sit on it - I am 70kg
i have a few at home. You wouldn't have any problems with them supporting the weight of average sized adults (providing that you don't stand or jump on them). However, larger sized individuals may need something more appropriate.
I've had no troubles with them so far. I've bought these in the past. I bought two a few months ago for the same price (I don't remember if they were on special). I use one as a footrest at my computer and another has about 8kg worth of magazines.

I'm pretty sure I saw these at Big W for $12 last week
we bought a couple at this price a while back in aqua blue. recommend you unwrap them and leave them outside somewhere for a week until the toxic faux leather smell goes away. It's a persistent and unappealing scent in the home but disappears with a good airing.
i have three of them, owned them for about 2 years now. they are good. i'm sure i had bought them for about $15 each.
hence i wouldn't say this is a bargain, but it is a good product.
