Rakuten (Japanese Store) 1000 Yen (A $10) International Shipping Fee

580

As already seen in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/84605 Rakuten is sort of like an Amazon store for Japan, they have all sorts of things. Most products are shipped to Japan only but forwarding service to overseas is available. The forwarding service is now offered at 1000yen. Unlike the last promotion, this offer can be used for any products.

Canon EOS 60D double zoom kit AU$760.70 http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/emedama/item/495779208666… is better value than kogan $679.00 with one lens.

    • Anything else I should be aware of besides the adapter?

      • +10

Yes. The infection innocently starts with a camera. Next you'll start buying lenses, flashes, modifiers, tripods, monopods, triggers, umbrellas, stands, then more lenses. Then you'll upgrade your body.

        This is only the beginning!

    • topbuy.com.au has better deals on Cameras than this site. Plus their warranty is cheaper & local compared to Kogan. BTW, I've not used them but looking to buy one from 'Topbuy.com.au' If someone could give feedback that positive or negative that would be much help.
      Thanks guys.

  • +1

Seems like a good site. Thanks OP.

  • Hooray for the exchange rate! Its been a long time

  • +1

Any idea if this works for pre-orders?

Made of the clay is real; is an art object of ○ yes.
Father is surprised to put it on a toilet seat.
Mother is surprised to put it in the living.
I do not know it even if angry.

      • The caption in the photo says "size fits so well in the palm of your hand"

      • The reviews make even less sense! "There is a room dog to beat, but a child discovers it if I leave you unattended on a sofa quietly and makes a fuss! Chop it to a pet dog together. It was found out with スクッ て artifact to clear it up and was loud laughter. The pet dog stayed in bed in anger (laugh). It was fun other than a pet dog." Sounds like he is killing his dog! :s.

OK any bargain to get other than crap?

    • hahaha XD

    • Can make them at home, using toilet paper, and some brown coloured water (coffee). And it comes with the satisfaction of DIY

  • How long is this offer available for the shipping ? Or is this a permanent thing?

    • I also think there are costs for "local" shipping in addition to the international shipping?
      I'm also confused.

      • depends on the reseller I think.
Some charge domestic shipping to get the stuff to Tenso.
Then Tenso would charge on top of that.

  • They sell a wide range of Japanese whetstones & holders, for those who like their knives sushi-sharp:

      How sharp is sushi? Lol

      • +1

There's an art to sushi! If you use a less than sharp knife you'll end up with mangled sashimi

  • "A popular potato shochu set! The special price price that a house is nice to drink!"

i like their auto-translate feature because it encourages alcoholism. A house indeed.

  • +10

Everything seem to be expensive not sure what all the fuss is about

    • exactly. the protreck watches i look at recently are sold MUCH cheaper on Amazon US (not sure about jp) including expensive express shipping charged by the mail forwarding company (MYUS)

    • +2

It's a good source for some Japanese model car parts, ie Toyota.

    • It's a good way to get reaonably priced jp label clothes (superdry is not japanese!).

p.s. Rakuten auction can be cheap, but I don't think it's covered

  • +1

Rakuten is not that cheap rather use amazon jp.

    • It all depends on the products and your Japanese skills ;)

  • Wonder if this is the console or the plastic???

  • Isn't Japan supposed to be really expensive? We need a deal like this in an inexpensive country.

Things in Australia are expensive but we've got ozbargain. Thanks ozbargain!

    • I guess Australia is dearer these days so grab a bargain from less expensive Japan :)

There are some good prices on coffee grinders like this Kyocera hand grinder, even comes with coffee but being made of wood and containing beans might make customs ?? The beans may even glow in the dark for all I know.

Haven't had a good look as the translations are not the best but still good to have other options.

  • +2

Hrm….. Rakuten is confusing to navigate ~_~
Also, it looks like Tenso's handling fee is excluded from the promotion.

so you're paying at least 1000 yen + 490 yen for anything less than 1 kg.

Apple products are cheap in Japan now. This iMac is AU$961.42 but apple Aust sells it for A$1429.
    http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/try3/item/md093ja/

    • any way to get a freight estimate on that? i could not figure it out how to get a Quote.

    • Unfortunately, customs WILL rape you based on AUD price when it arrives.

      "Random" checks my ass.

      • I've imported many items, they're always assessed at the price on the import declaration, not the Australian price.

Hmm.. I just spent $500 + on some fishing gear literally 12 hours ago, I am gutted I didn't see this earlier!

    • +4

      gutted

i see what you did there

      • +4

Oh no. You took the bait.

    • What did you end up getting mate. Funny enough I was just looking at some gear. Squid jigs seem to be extremely cheap on there.

      • LOL haha!

Actually purchased SHOUT tackle/ bags apparel/ and Daiwa apparel gear and some jigs which are almost impossible to find here. If you want some good prices on reels head to digitaka.com they don't have a full range but most of the good (Daiwa)reels and were offering free shipping when I ordered a few reels a few days ago. Squid jigs are cheap cause egi fishing is massive in Japan!

  • Be nice if stores accepted Paypal none that I wanna use do

    • +2

MasterCard or Visa debit card is where it's at.
PayPal is far too limiting to solely rely on.

      • Safe tho?

  • +2

guys some of the pentax stuff is cheap:

    K-5II body kit $774
    K-30 body black $458
    K-30 body crystal white $463
    Pentax smc PENTAX-DA40mmF2.8 Limited $244
    PENTAX-DA70mmF2.4Limited $376

Pentax smc PENTAX-DA 16-50mmF2.8ED AL [IF] SDM

The onlyquestion I have is what kind of warranty do they provide ?

  • -1

    <duplicate>

  • Already registered with Tenso but I can't find the coupon code. Anyone knows?

    • You will only get the code one day later after you shop and make purchases, I think.

      • So you've got to purchase something first, then you'll get the coupon for your second purchase?

        • +2

No, you don't need to make a second purchase. You don't use the coupon when you purchase the item; you use it when you pay for Tenso's mail forwarding service.
So you buy something on Rakuten, using your Tenso address as the delivery address. You have to pay for the item(s) and shipping within Japan, which may be free depending on the store.
The seller on Rakuten will send the package to Tenso. Then Tenso will charge you a fee for handling and international shipping to send the item to you in Australia. That's what you use the coupon for.
So it doesn't matter that the coupon arrives after the purchase. You will get the coupon before your package arrives at Tenso, so it will be ready to use by the time you have to pay for international shipping.

  • What I meant last night is :
    http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/mikasacamera/item/p8/
Pentax smc PENTAX-DA 16-50mmF2.8ED AL [IF] SDM
    AU$863.14 (¥85,140)

My question is still the same : any warranty available ?

  • Not entirely sure this is a deal, but I've had such an enjoyable morning at work on this site that I have no choice but to +1

  • Hi
I've just ordered a few baby products, now do i wait for the store to contact me regarding to the shipping? Also i'm sure Tenso do combine shipping right?
    Cheers

    • I ordered and got a reply email already. The shop (collect for the Jap Gov) will charge you 5% sales tax. And that shop doesn't accept credit card, therefore you have to do a overseas bank TT. The shop charges you an overseas bank transfer fee of about A$70…. too much cost and hassle. I just canceled my order.

  • This is confusing as hell.
It seems as if I have to purchase something from Rakuten before I find out how much I will be charged by Tenso.
    Is this the case?
I don't want to buy something only to find my saving have been sucked up by Tenso or to find there is a problem with the deal and have my product be used as ransom due to already laying down the money for it on Rakuten.

    • You can see all of Tenso's fees on their website. If it's just a single package, you can use the 'calculation tool' at the bottom of the Tenso homepage to work out the shipping and handling fee (not including the coupon). If you get multiple packages then there's a consolidation fee as well, which you can find on their website. The coupon reduces the shipping component to ¥1000, with a maximum discount of ¥4000.
The only uncertainty is the weight of the package. Sometimes it can be hard to predict if something is going to be, say, just under 3kg or just over. Not much you can do about that.

But it's a valid point about what happens if something goes wrong with the deal. You've already bought the goods, so you're basically stuck paying whatever Tenso asks.
They're a reputable company, so I'm sure they're not going to try and scam people out of a few thousand yen. But obviously you should be careful that you don't leave your purchase too late and miss the deadline or something like that.

      • Hey thanks for replying Elliot and making some sense out of it all.
        Confidence level is greater today.

I thought I would take the gamble and place an order last night with a shop on Rakuten. Somehow Tenso have been notified and sent the coupon code to my email today. It is valid for a couple of week I believe.

This has all happened with no money down. The shop on Rakuten is yet to contact me for confirmation and payment.

So it's a strange system, but I thought I would let others know how the precess has worked out for me so far.

  • Hey there, any chance yasui (or anyone else) can confirm where the above 'campaign details' came from - an e-mail perhaps? Fingers crossed, as Tenso and the website have both told me that the campaign finished at 9:50 AM Japan time, not PM. Screwed me over a bit, I reckon.
