DSE is increasingly like Catch of the Day.

these clearance deals with no stock are annoying

    • Not really only some guys posted it even no stock everywhere.

    • +3

I think that's a bit unfair. Fair enough if they promote the hell out of it and have limited stock like they did with their game sale which they themselves acknowledge was an absolute fiasco, but this post is from a non rep and something he just stumbled accross it on the website.

      • Yeah, it really up to the OP to check for stocks before posting it up.

        • +2

Really? How many of you, having found and bought something online without any trouble then go out of their way to check the availability in several other stores before posting?

It seems there really is no stock anywhere though, so I'm not sure why they haven't removed it from the site.

Personally, I'm happy for these type of deals to be posted. Sure, it can be a waste of time going to a site only to find an item out of stock in your local store, but if it really is a bargain, and they didn't mention it, then we'd miss out if it WAS in stock.

For instance, while many grumbled about the ASUS U31F being out of stock near them, it was instore at a store within driving distance for me, and i wouldn't have know about it if it hadn't been posted here.

  • no #$%$ing stock anywhere again!!!

Not impressed with their sales and availability.
I did a "click and collect" on a GPS once, on a shop which supposedly had stock. They phoned me to say they only had an "ex-repair" unit, but that it was brand new as it has been replaced. Went all the way there to get it, got home and realised it was not new at all. Had to waste my time to return it.

      I'd be speaking with ACCC…

Too many times, I've had similarly disappointing experiences with [even pre-acquisition] DSE!

Eg, I walked into a DSE store & noticed at least 6 of a discounted item on a store shelf (above or below the shelf price-tag; it's been a while)… All were ex-repair returns… for which they insisted the correct price was the same as a -new- item price.

It happened in at least 3 of DSE's "sales" on netbooks… "Sorry, we only have ex-repair returns in stock… no rainchecks available.

I wonder if this has gotten -worse- now that there's a new owners?

      • My issues have been mostly with poor service by staff in their shops. Some staff are great, but some just don't care. Online purchases have been quite okay.

    OP, Where's ya local?

  • No stock in Sydney.

  • +5

Same as any decent DSE deal. Zero stock.

  • no hdmi? asus website says yes has 1.
    sydney broadway no stock

    • Yes they do have HDMI. Mine only has a 4 cell battery though.

  • It looks like it was just a single store putting an item on clearance. They should change their systems so it doesn't show up on the website and get everyone excited.

    • SamE price everywhere. That's why it's on the website…

    • +1

Well, if they only had ONE to offer, OzB's "over 10" rule should have kicked-in…

      Perhaps it still CAN do.

Mod, consider moving this deal to an OzB Forum… only 1 item?

Misleading "loss leader" to attract custom in…?

      • +1

Agreed, not a ozbargain if no stock. more than 1/2 the dicksmith stuff on here is like this
