Apple Lightning Compatible Cable (1m length) - $2.95 with free shipping - 500 available

102

Hi folks, me again, I just got a bunch of the Apple Lightning cables in and as promised in my last deal am running another Ozbargain special for them.

I've set up a special listing for Ozbargain (it's the one in the link) and there are 500 of them available at $2.95 each. Buy as many as you like but once they are gone, this deal is over :-) Or when 5 days have passed, whichever comes first.

If you have any questions or queries, let me know either here or through eBay.

  • Can get them for under $2 delivered from other Australian retailers

    • Kogan's deal has expired, are there others?

Title is misleading. These are not apple products. These are knock offs of an Apple product. Title should reflect this. I would remove the 'Apple' part.

    • -1

Fair enough, the listing started they are generic though

      • -1

        so why not here?

    • +2

+1 they are not genuine apple which is why the ebay listing cannot mention apple in title or image

    • -1

      Made the change for you

"Generic Lightning" is better - less confusing - than "Apple Lightning Compatible"

Lightning is proprietary Apple so no need to mention Apple

why mention Apple in OzBargain title if you don't in ebay?

        • -1

You've got to be kidding. That's just taking semantics to a whole new level

"Generic Lightning" is better - less confusing - than "Apple Lightning Compatible"

I think that is just going too far. "Apple Lightning Compatible" is very clear.

        • Compatible Apple Lightning is more clear

        • -1

compatible => doesn't exclude genuine apple

          generic => excludes genuine apple

        • -1

A $40 cable selling for $2.95 also excludes genuine apple

All the non-genuine cables i've tried (from about 5+ different sellers from OB and ebay due to what seemed liked a good deal) stop working after about 2 weeks, the pins wear out and may even damage the iphone as some of them are real tight fit, not smooth like the genuine

    • I've had mixed success with these cheap cables. Surely there must be a market for higher-priced Chinese cables that are made to the same quality as the original Apple cable? After all, I assume that Apple get their cables from China (or similar). Even if they were $10 to $12 each they would be a big bargain compared to the Apple price. I would buy some.

It does seem to be about construction quality to me, I don't think the cables are becoming disabled by Apple updates. Maybe it's just that if one person sells cables for $2 then that becomes the benchmark that all others must achieve else they are "rip-offs". But that completely ignores differences in construction quality. The very first comment in this thread is a prime example.

      • Ummm I never said rip off.. I agree with you we dont know the quality in the cables. I cannot say these are better than the ones on ebay for $2 or the ones on ebay are better quality than this(but they probably exactly are the same). Hence I didn't say rip off or mark this as a no deal.

Bottom line though these are all unbranded lightning cables and just because you pay more for a cable does not mean you are getting better quality. Your post seems to indicate this incorrect illusion.

        • Yes, that's what I was trying to say. I only mentioned your comment because it only drew attention to the price of (them) cables but without any reference to the quality (compared to others). And that's the problem, I don't know whether all these cheap cables are identical or whether there are a few quality levels.

And sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you said "rip-off", that was more of a generalisation about some of the commentary here.

      "All the non-genuine cables i've tried……"

Wait, did you neg the deal because you are assuming that these are the same as other cables you bought from others previously? It may be right but it's just an assumption and I don't think a neg should be based on an assumption like that.

    Not an apple cable.

    • +5

Read the title, it says apple lightning compatible. If it was genuine I'd be leading with "95% off".

I don't mean to be a tool but seriously, a cable for $3 isn't going to be a genuine one and I never claimed it was and even then after the first comment about it I changed the title.

If you'd rather I didn't post specials for ozbargain, just say so and I'll stop doing deals for you. I post them because ozbargain has been good to me and I'm giving some back.

Margins are not big for any special on ozbargain so if you'd rather I didn't, keep throwing petulant and needless megs.

Even'd out the votes on your post, because I agree with you, my latest deal was getting hammered for stupid reasons, I'm about to give up on contributing, people want everything for free, and even then they complain about something.

(Seriously? He never says GENUINE, someone might read lightning cable and not know what the hell it's for, at least if they see Apple, they can go oh it's for an apple product.)

  • +4

man, you guys are harsh today!

    • +1

I agree, some people here need to relax. I don't see what the fuss is about, people know what's going on with the cables and the price isn't horrible.

  • +2

it is very obvious from the price it cant be a real Apple product.
    Come one monkey…..

How about actually supporting the guy who's trying to give us a an actual deal instead of half the crap that's posted up here, instead of hating on the wording of the product, no where does he say it's genuine at all.

Personally I've bought from him before and everything came exactly as described and super cheap.

Have a problem with how it's worded? Complain to apple since they like to make proprietary shit all the time with new names.

    • Or, you know, the mods

      • Ein Blitz trifft mehr Bäume als Grashalme ! lol

  • FYI

Be careful if you buy multiple items from this seller. Whilst they are good quality products, I have bought multiple items and all were stuffed into a single 60c letter envelope.
The result: Having to pay an extra $2.10 at the post office as Australia Post wouldn't deliver the letter because the postage wasn't enough. Which would bring the price up and may result in less of a deal/saving (when the items themselves were only a dollar or two each).

  • +3

If you have the receipt out the envelope marked with the extra required then send a scan/photo of it to [email protected] and ilk happily reimburse you for the extra amount you paid.

  • Just received mine and its faulty, can do data sync but will not charge - this seems to be a problem with some of the thirdparty cables, with the old 30pin there were no such issues. You buy the original from Apple or you buy the $1 cable from ebay they both do the same job. Lightning is causing some thunder in my head

    • This isn't really the place for a support request, send me a message through ebay and I will get something sorted out for you.
