    Thanks for sharing rep.
I'm more interested in the HTC One though, can you kindly give me an idea of when it will be open again for ordering on your website?
    Thanks!

    • Hey there, because of HTC, we've had a bad time with preorders! Therefore to keep safe we're waiting until the first few devices start shipping before offering the preorder again. We expect this within the next week and a half hopefully :)

      • Thanks for the info. I guess not much can be done when there's component shortage… I think the wait will be worth it though. :)

        • Certainly :) You can go to our ETAs page and actually subscribe to an email to be notified when we get more stock.

amazing prices cant wait to get my hands on one

Your 16GB 4G model (mainstream model) are actually more expensive than mobicity.
    http://www.mobicity.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s4-4g-i9505.html
You should make it clear that you are selling a grey import without GST.
This look like RRP to me.

    • +1

Hi there, thanks for pointing that out. We only just added them and were still checking prices around.
      Updated!

  • i think people should start comparing s3 4g version instead of the cheapest s3 they can find. the difference is 460+shipping (kogan) against 760 + shipping. 300 difference for all the upgrades is pretty worth it

    • -5

      you dont get 4g with the $760 S4, try $835 + shipping

    • +1

People shouldn't even look at the 3g one. RAM difference alone is worth the price difference.

It would appear to be a bit 'risky' to spend $788 ($769+$19) on a smart phone with no Australian warranty.

Hi A3Australia, we actually offer our own Australian warranty, so you're safe when investing into a phone like this.

        No, not "safe" at all.

I do not think that you have technicians that were trained by SAMSUNG. Nor that you have access to genuine SAMSUNG replacement parts/assemblies.

Also, SAMSUNG Australia may elect to replace the complete phone under warranty - will you be doing that?

        EDIT:
I believe SAMSUNG Australia offer a Two Year Warranty.
        Are you offering the same?

        • Hi A3Australia,

As you will soon see when Australian pricing is announced, there is usually (at least after some time when initial pricing drops) a large difference in between genuine import phones like ours, and local Australian phones.

Not having the local Samsung warranty is the cost of this, as there has to be a reason why the phone is so much cheaper otherwise everyone would be selling imports. We have arrangements with our suppliers to send phones back to them for them to either have the phone repaired by trained Samsung technicians or replaced if it cannot be fixed.

Our warranty is one year, this is why imports are considerably cheaper.
          Thanks for your concern, however.

          Have a great day,

As you will soon see when Australian pricing is announced, there is usually…. a large difference in [price?] between genuine import phones like ours, and local Australian phones.

          Huh?

Why did you say "genuine import phones like ours"?

Your prices for the 16GB are:-
          S4 3g 16GB $788
          S4 4g 16GB $844

One wonders what prices for the AU models with a 2year warranty will be?

Surely having an AU legal phone with A-Tick, an AU charger and plug, and a 2 year SAMSUNG 'backed' local warranty, would be worth say $200?

So, do you believe the AU model S4 4G 16GB will cost over/around $1,049 ?

  • According to Techdot:

    S4 2/3g 16GB = $788 (inc delivery)
    S4 4g 16GB = $844 (inc delivery) <— definitely worth $56.00

    With Kogan:

    S3 2/3g 16GB = $398 (inc delivery)
    S3 4g 16GB = $478 (inc delivery)

I've been burnt by buying a import.
7.7 3g ad u know was never available in oz.

Sim slot stopped working after .2 months. Local warranty is a joke with these company's.
Tried to charge me 200 to fix it.

Buy local if its available with official warranty guys

    • Hi BR,

Sorry to hear about that happening elsewhere. Buying locally certainly does have its advantages, although here, we definitely cover any problems within 12 months and won't be charging you.

      Techdot

      • we definitely cover any problems within 12 months and won't be charging you.

One has to 'balance' the saving made when buying a phone from another market (I guess in this case - Hong Kong?) against the risk(s) of problems that will not be covered by a 'local' warranty.

        1) There is a risk in being the importer.

        2) A buyer would have to return the phone to Techdot by some trackable/traceable means (same as if they were returning to SAMSUNG or a local supplier).

        3) There may be some considerable time involved for the phone to be sent back to the Hong Kong supplier, then sent to SAMSUNG Hong Kong, then returned to the Hong Kong supplier, then returned to Australia (directly to the owner or to Techdot?).

Will Techdot be giving the customer an S4 as a 'loaner' phone?

        4) One has to compare the 'value' of a local SAMSUNG two year warranty against a one year warranty serviced via a 'small' local business.

        • +3

Samsung doesn't really give a loaner phone when they repair, and can take up to 2-3 weeks in some cases.

Not defending anybody here, but it really is up to the buyer to choose where to buy.

I do support Australian businesses ONLY if they stop adding their exorbitant 'invisible' Australia Tax on top of every item. I haven't bought many electronics or hardware/software in Australia in the last 5 years because everything I look at is always twice or 3 times the price of overseas.

I do weigh out the savings, local warranty, possibility of failure, then decide where to buy.

Like the laptop I bought, Costed me AUD$2000 (which included International Warranty) over in Hong Kong, In Australia it was selling close to $4000. No brainier there to import it myself.

AV Receiver, $350 off Amazon, $700 in Australia, no local warranty, chances of it breaking (e.g. hardware failure) not extremely high, even if it breaks I can buy another one and still be ahead of the price here.

As for a phone, I would think, generally I can fix it myself for reasonably cheap. Non-genuine parts doesn't really mean much to me, everything is made in china nowadays. Haha.
However it is the price that will do it for me though. If Australia Price: $1000 and overseas price around $700 then I would definatly consider buying it. If it is $850 to $1000 then I would think about it a little more.

If you are scared that your phone will break and you will be without a phone for a few weeks, then you shouldn't be getting Samsung, only company as far as I know who will help you is Apple, they will switch your phone out with another if it fails.

As far as I know, there are no other company which does this sort of servicing, they just tell you to send it in, then take a few weeks then send it back to you. None of them will loan you a phone.

        • Costed [sic] me AUD$2000 (which included International Warranty) over in Hong Kong, In Australia it was selling close to $4000. No brainier [sic] there to import it myself.

Of course. However, if the difference was only say $200 - and there was no 'international warranty'? It would be a 'no brainer' to buy locally.

The problem with this SAMSUNG Galaxy IV is that we are not sure of the $ savings in buying a privately imported model. For me, on an $800-$1,000 smart phone, there would have to be at least a 20% saving.

  • That is a very expensive phone.

  • Sorry whats LTE?

  • +3

Or…..you can buy from Unlocked-Mobiles in the UK for 441 pounds (VAT removed) + 22 shipping = $671.44

    http://www.unlocked-mobiles.com/sim-free-mobile-phones/samsu…

    Difference is $788 - $671.44 = $116.56

Since both grey imports, take the punt and get the cheaper one. Phone insurance is less than the difference

  • This phone is way overpriced. For similar specs you can get the Xperia Z with the added feature of been water proof and premium build quality for only $600 at JBHifi (local stock).

  • Are you sure your specs for the S4 LTE version are correct?
Your specs indicate that chipset is Exynos 5 Octa 5410, but as far as i know it has been confirmed that LTE version will be running on Qualcomm SnapDragon 600 chipset.
Having said that, this goes for the Australian version of the LTE S4, not sure about HK or wherever your phones are coming from.

    • Snapdragon 600 has only been confirmed for UK and USA at this stage. No word on Australian products.
