  • so who else got barcode: X3006X341X805 (added some random X's, but if rest of numbers are same, safe to assume barcode is generic… in which case this deal will be OzB'd

    • -8

Mine was similar to yours, but without the random X's…

    • -1

      nope

edit - oh wait they are the same

    • +1

oh, dear, this WILL be OzB'd.
Good luck finding this solo in the shops !!

    • +1

All the barcode codes are the same.

      9300633416805.

    • +2

I logged in with 2 accounts and got the same number as you for both: 9300633416805

    • +4

      Oh no.

Don't these big multinational companies have the foresight to think that using the same barcode is going to be subject to abuse?

With all the so called 'aptitude tests' some of these companies make you go through, you'd think someone would have been onto this.

  • looks like mine.

  • Sweet!

    • No it's not sweet, it's low sugar !

      • It doesn't have to be sugar to be sweet. Look no further than artificial sweeteners.

  • Voucher expires 17/4

Can someone please upload pdf please as when I open email it does't show barcode because I think facebook is blocked at work.

    • I don't know why people are negging me, as I did try to get email and I got it, its just that I can't print the same as email is trying to get image from facebook and facebook is blocked at work….

    • +2

A true ozbargainer would not let this get in the way of a freebie.

    • -1

      How about -
      - going to the library -
state library in the CBD on Swanston & Lonsdale St.
or City Of Melb. Lib. cnr Little Flinders & Swanston St. - opposite police station
      - wait until you get home
      - take the laptop to either McDonalds, Hungry Jacks, etc. or other free internet places
      and do it there
      - use a friends mobile

      Good Luck :)

  • +1

I guess you could just enter barcode yourself at self serve if scanning barcode from phone doesn't work

  • I know it's free, but I tried this stuff a month or so ago and I found it to be awful. I usually love really tart and sour drinks, but this stuff was sickly sweet. Blech. Still, free's free!

  • +2

yay this will go well with my free bottles of Pepsi Next from a while back and my 96 cans of Sprite, Fanta and Lift which cost 12c each. Way too many soft drinks in my house now! :P

    • -1

How will it go well? One would logically assume that if you already have a large stock of soft drink that you wouldn't want/need more.

  • Looks like another failure along the lines of Pepsi next

    • not a failure. pretty good tasting actually. almost the same as normal solo. i bought this about two weeks ago from woolies when it was advertised at $1.00

    • +1

Not sure why it didn't do well. The taste isn't bad at all.

      • +1

Not sure why it didn't do well

        probably contains Stevia…

  • +3

Damn same barcodes again… Need to claim this asap before another broden claims more than 1.

This direct link worked for my wife. I havent tested it with others but I assume will work for you guys.

    Regards

  • Interesting, self checkout didn't scan up the discount at Parramatta.
Just scanned in as the coupon costing $0.01 without the usual -ve amount afterwards, had to call the attendant.

    • same for me.
Attendant called his manager, who called her manager.
took about 15 minutes of waiting. was told this is probably a scam. Woolies know nothing about it

      • Which is stupid because the barcode is recognised with appropriate text - probably just not linked to the correct SKU.

      • Did they publicly accuse you of trying to scam them? Poor effort from Woolworths

      • i got 0.01 as well (at redfern)

  • Is this a scam? The Facebook's claim page looks different.

Anyway, I went to claim it at Town Hall's Wollies and they reckon it's a scam. Apparently, I'm the 2nd person to claim it. After so much hassle, they let me have it.

    • Hahaha I was the first :) see my post above.

  • How did you scan the barcode at the self check out ? My email doesn't have a barcode to scan, just the string of numbers (same as everyone elses above)

  • Scanned up as $0.01 as well for me but I had no dramas with staff. Although finding the drink was a bit of a challenge.

    • +5

protip: it's with the rest of the soft drinks

      • Would've helped if it pretty much wasn't all brodened out

  • +18

This took a while for someone to post:

Here's a .pdf I made of the offer

    • +3

      +1 for the Broden reference.

    • The Broden reference made me laugh out loud!

  • I just got mine from Boronia, Vic. Same issue with the $0.01 scanning in, but the attendant who knew nothing about it took me to the information desk, and they put it through without any dramas. I only waited for 30 seconds. They have heaps on the shelf too. Now to put it in the fridge and see if it's worth going back for more.

  • I went to woolworths Wodonga. Same problem with the scanning in at 1cent while not removing the price for the original item. The manager was just reading over the offer when I turned up :P (EDIT: to clarify she had documentation about the offer from HQ or something like that)

They ended up just giving me the bottle and not having it on the receipt.

    • +2

Maybe Solo were smart enough to do this on purpose.

If everyone has to speak with a staff member to get the product, there will probably be far less people that exploit the offer.

      • smart thinking!

  • Anyone willing to post up a copy of the voucher for those without Facebook?

  • The Adelaide city store wouldn't do it.

It scanned at 1 cent, asked the staff member, he said they should just be able to reduce it manually for me. Lower manager came over and said that I have probably been scammed, I told him it was on the official page, he took it to the front counter to try it there rather than self serve, spoke to 2 of his managers, then said that since the code comes up with text on the screen he now doesn't think it's a scam anymore but that the limit of 5000 bottles was reached… (which I doubt their system would be smart enough to register). But yeah, took about 10 mins of back and forth and in the end didn't give me the drink.

Oh well… still don't know if it's an error on Woolies part, or the voucher isn't actually real/expired…

EDIT: As per the comment a few before me where the lady was reading the offer details from their HQ seems like it's just something new and they haven't set it up properly to work… oh well, might try my luck tomorrow.

    • Yeah I got the lady to enter the code manually and it scanned is a 1 cent. Must be ozbargained :(

    • +2

+1 exactly the same thing happened to me. I used the barcode provided straight from facebook and it scanned and came up on the screen as 'Solo Redemption -0.01'. The manager came over and gave me shady looks and said it didn't look legit. I showed her the email with the woolworths logo and she said 'they don't normally look like that'. The manager then told me to put the sale on hold and come to the front counter where she would get the store manager to see if he could approve it. I said "don't worry its just $2 i'll just buy it" and left pretty embarrassed about the whole thing.

By the way this was at the Indooroopilly store in QLD.

      • +1

don't feel embarrassed bro. fight for your rights.

remember the free flavoured water deal from Caltex and Woolworths? Caltex wouldn't honour it so I went to a Woolworths store and after some persistence I was able to get my free flavoured water.

we're all gonna make it… brah.

      • Heh, I just told them to keep it then, and instead used my Be Natural voucher again to buy some half price cereal :P

He told me that he knew about that voucher at least :)

  • There is a reason why it does scan up as 1 cent I can't remember now but it is the same as when Coles did the docket deals (with flybuys points, liquor etc), anyways it is a limitation of the system. 1c is not too bad when you are buying other goods there already.

    • The issue here is that it only does the 1 cent but not the discount as well

      • to clarify it adds one cent to the total and that's it. You end up with $1.99 for the solo and 0.01 for the coupon with a final to pay of $2.00

        • Is that mean if buy it with something else it will only add 1c to the total?

  • The barcode scans with the Woolworths app - so show any unwilling store staff that as evidence that it isnt a scam

  • woohoo. free solo!!

  • so how does it work? You walk up to the self serve then scan the barcode and just place the bottle inside the bag?

    • +2

nah… dun hv to walk up any self-serve or counter, u just place the bottle inside your own bag, walk out the store without receipt.

      • sounds legit

    • +1

      so how does it work?

just drink the bottle in store, it saves a lot of hassles by the sound of things…

  • i just went to woolworths and take one bottle for checkout. the staff scan the bottle and when she was ready to scan the voucher, another woolies staff come up and said to me, this voucher is not issued by woolworths, we never issue this kind of voucher. having doubt whether they made an excuse not to make this offer. or woolworths really has been scammed? after i left the shop and check the voucher again. the voucher is issued by solo and only redeem at woolworths. looks like many bargainers got the free solo already. should it be the fact woolies has been scammed a few free bottles of solo?

    • not a scam since it comes up in their system as a valid voucher

      • i am thinking whether i should go again and tell them it is a valid voucher

  • +1

So this voucher actually increases your bill by 1c and you don't get anything free Hmmm interesting bargain ;-)

Woolies hasn't responded to this person's query: https://www.facebook.com/woolworths/posts/472776952794441
Looks like voucher came from here: https://www.facebook.com/solothirstcrusher/posts/54983434171…
3,500+ claimed. Plenty of people complaining there it doesn't work!

  • +1

I think it's safe to say that this isn't a scam, the Solo page offering the voucher has 50k+ likes.

The more likely issue is either that Woolworths managers are simply unaware (fairly likely) or they are getting sick of these vouchers/coupons and deliberately refusing to allow them. Either way, this reflects badly on Woolworths. If they don't like these offers they should speak with Head Office and get them stopped, not take it out on customers.

  • no issues with buying from abbotsford vic. Stuff isn't that nice, sickly aftertaste lasts for minutes.

  • +2

    Just posted @ Solo's Facebook
Hi all, thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately there was an issue with the way Woolworths set up the redemption in their system. This has since been rectified and will now scan at $0.00. Please note that there is a Woolworths authorisation code at the bottom of T&Cs. Apologies for any issues.

    Edit:
Scans fine now, and as Pepsi/Solo varieties are 2 for $3 this week, if you buy two with two scans of the voucher you get $0.95 change.
    Photographic evidence

As with other voucher offers from Woolies, if using self-checkout you need to put something with a bit of weight in the bag such as your phone or wallet after scanning the voucher to proceed.

    • Thats not a bargain mate. That is scamming the system.
Bargain Vs Scam. One is honest one is not.
      Your choice.

  • Used my voucher at Woolworths Parramatta today. Still scanned up as 1c but it did take off the cost of the Solo. I was using self-checkout so just put 5c in the machine and it gave me 5c change back, so still free. I'm sure at a serviced counter the operator could fix it up for you.

And when using voucher at self-serve it does require some weight in the bagging area to account for the voucher. I called the attendant over who fixed it manually but as cooni said above probably could just put your phone or wallet in the bag and it'll work fine

    • Used voucher at serviced counter, she scans the Solo and voucher, and asked me for 1 cent…

Operator: "Do you need a bag?"
Me: "Nah.. Tht's fine" (I'm turning around to take the solo and go…)
      Operator: "You didn't pay yet"
      Me: "Huh?? Isn't it free?"
Operator: "There's 1 cent to finish the transaction"
Me: "…" (Seems like Im poor enough that can't afford tht fxxking 1 cent)
Operator: "You need to pay for 5 cents by cash"
Me: "I'll pay by card" (Embarrassed)

      • why didn't you use a 5c piece and get it refunded straight back?

or go to the service counter, ask to withdraw 5c, then use that

      • They are not paid to think it would seem ;-)

  • i got mine tonight to try.. it charged me the 1c as i was buying other stuff on the card with paywave anyway. The ING paywave will more than negate the 1c :D

    • Yeah my wife bought it with other stuffs got charged 1c.

  • Showed up as 1.99c off on my receipt. Makes it even. Bought it with my half price be natural apple cereal

    • but the voucher charged an extra 0.01c, they should take 2.00c off instead of 1.99c off

      • Drink showed up as 1.99 at Kelvin grove, Brisbane

  • I got mine from Parkmore, VIC but they didn't know about it and they couldn't figure it out, so they just let me take it for free (I assume they did something to push it through). It was mostly awkward because I was showing the email on my phone instead of a printout and it needed to load/resize a few times.

  • -4

    Bought 2, Scanned voucher twice.
    Woolworths owed me $0.95

  • Got mine from goulburn NSW showed the guy my phone he typed in the barcode number it said 0.01 and he said there we go have a nice day

  • If they scan the voucher but don't scan the drink, you'll pay 1c.if they scan both it should be free

    • That's not how it's meant to be done.

      • You're wrong. I work at a supermarket

        • And that's why all previous voucher offers work by adding a discount when the product is scanned:
Using a $1.99 product as an example,
          Scan product $1.99
          Scan voucher $0.01
          Discount applied -$(1.99+0.01)
          Net result $0.00.

This time around the discount applied doesn't negate the voucher amount (of one cent).

          But thanks anyway.

  • Well, it says expired, but I'm still going to give it a go, see if I can't grab another one…wish me luck :D

    • I tried but they didn't have any Low Sugar Solo left at my local store.

    • +1

      Got it.

      • Cheers for that, went and picked up another bottle.

        • Offer is still going just picked up another bottle.

  • picked up my first bottle today at WW Carousel WA. used self-serve checkout, both drink + voucher scanned but resulted in 1c to pay. self-serve attendant tried a few times to negate it. in the end had to go to service counter. same problem there but they did some jiggery pokery with the system and it was mine.

    • Guy above said he put 5c in and got 5c change back.

      • didn't have 5c with me :p

        • any coin? im sure you would have got it back, or use your ING card :P

        • may be, but i wasn't going to risk my $2. it'd be harder to get back than to wait while checkout staff tried to figure out how to make the transaction work.

if it says "free" then there's no way i'm going to put a cent of my own money towards it.

        • -1

Good call. Anyhow, claimed two bottles today and got $1.90 back in change. The missus was scratching her head going wtf

        • $1.90? tht's 4 bottles …
