Even pay half return shipping on faults

if my product is faulty i'll expect them to pay the entire return shipping, not just half.

    • +1

If your item develops a fault within 30 days, is DOA or they send the wrong thing - that is just what they will do. http://www.merimobiles.com/shipping-returns/
Even in Australia where it is a legal requirement to do so it is near impossible to get that.
Outside of that time they have a record of paying half, which is more than most Aussie companies will do.
EITHER is unheard of from Chinese sellers other than Merimobiles.

      OK?

It's a legal requirement in Australia they pay for (reasonable) transportation UNLESS it would be unreasonable to expect you to transport it back (eg. bulky) they must pick it up themselves.

Stop pulling "facts" out of your ass, hell even Harvey Norman picked up a 1.5 year old washing machine and replaced it.

        • Out of curiosity, did you watch this weeks episode of The Checkout? :P

        • I sure did - awesome hey. They put it in great terms. And kinda made the point how many traders do just ignore the laws. They kinda glossed over how hard it is to get anything done about anything but the most blatant ripoffs and refusals to honour any form of warranty.

Looking at your history you are a rep http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/62046/nodes

        please mark yourself as such.

        • I am not a rep - stop pulling assumptions out of nowhere. I like the company, they have done well by me, and i like to help others so I put out the word. They are well known in 'chinadroid' circles and I reckon they deserve to do well. I have no association other than as a customer, do not even have an affiliate link or status, nor have i asked for one, ane get NOTHING out of letting you guys know about them other than the warm feeling of doing a favor for somebody who has done right by me.

          To the topic in hand
The FACT is most companies that do mail order, esp in electronics, expect you to handle return shipping, and even specify it in their t&cs
          http://ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/warranty.php
If you originally paid for freight on the item and if the item is faulty as standard we cover the return freight (from us to you, not the other way around).

          http://www.eyo.com.au/info_ID_6.html
Customer is responsible for any shipping and insurance cost involved in sending the warranty claim goods back to EYO Technologies. EYO is not responsible for any parcel missing in transit, on its return back to EYO.

You must pay for return shipping

          https://www.warcom.com.au/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/A…
The customer will cover the cost of transport to the Warcom (Aust) Pty Ltd workshop or selected service center. Warcom (Aust) Pty Ltd or the service center will then repair or replace the goods, and return to the customer at our expense.

How many more do you need?
I KNOW it is the law - but i also know it is less enforced than the use of indicators

        • I am still amazed - I have been a member for 18m, made my 1st post a month ago ABOUT ANOTHER COMPANY and have posted only one deal about merimobiles before today (tho i have mentioned them in related threads). How on earth does 2 posts about a company make one a rep? I have talked as oft about Dell - do you want me to mark as a Dell rep too?

I HAVE asked Merimobiles to pass me some special deals to post here for you guys - cos I wanna make some good posts and I like the OzB community (for the most part - I will readily there are some very petty people here but thankfully they are a vast minority). They haven't. yet but said they have some in the pipeline just for us.

If you want to deal with a company that has chines prices but speaks english, and cares about their customers being happy with the deal, and who fix their mistakes, go for it. Otherwise feel free to get ripped off by Jerry Harvey while he calls you a professional or deal with the likes of DX.com who dont understand a word you say and dont give a rats when they do.

  • The requirement for vendors to cover returns shipping is Australian business law. When you're dealing with overseas businesses, these laws don't apply and as such they have no obligation to cover for return costs.

Many US based vendors do not cover returns shipping. E.g BHP Photo Video explicitly states: Return shipping charges are the responsibility of the customer, yet people don't seem to mind that fact.

Any season online shopper already knows such risks. If you want to be protected by such law, buy local!

Not only is it Australian law, even most aussie businesses ignore it, and get away with it.

I thought it was a nice change myself to see a company who didnt HAVE to pay return ship just doing so, because it is the right thing to do.
Especially when so many who legally do have to refuse to and Fair Trading just turn a blind eye.

  • So is there a specific deal? 7% off and the site has too much junk. Anything that could be had elsewhere.
