I am reluctant to post this deal, but maybe someone will find it useful.

US$39.99 is a good price for a tv dongle.

My suggestion is if you have not got one, get one.

Seems a bit big. That's what she said, etc.

People, don't waste your money. Buy a Minix G4 instead. Excellent dev team and support. They are going to release a new firmware next week which will allow Dolby 5.1 Passthrough so you can hook up your home theatre.

  • the best selling is an adroid laptop

Yeah, but that's for the geekbuying site. It looks like the same crap laptop deal that was posted yesterday or the day before. 1024x600, 512MB RAM. Hello, it's Asus EEE701 all over again.

Mind you, if there were a well-priced ARM laptop with decent resolution, good battery life, under 1kg, that I could install Linux on, I'd consider it, it would make a great travel companion. But it's just not here yet. Yes, I've tried putting my tablet in a case with keyboard, but the weight distribution is wrong.

    • Have you considered chromebooks? the acer one is a better option if you wanted to replace chromeOS with linux otherwise the arm one is fine for dual booting it but it has a smaller range of applications available due to the lack of x86 architecture

      • They're too expensive. An Atom based netbook of equivalent specs costs less.

Pretty much all the software I need is available in the ARM architecture. When travelling, I don't need to watch movies and that sort of thing (waste of valuable holiday time). Just a web browser, photo app, command line, VPN software and a few other things. The Android platform is not open enough. I'm still trying to get OpenVPN to run on my tablet. Seems I need a tun.ko that doesn't crash my tablet, and it wasn't supplied in the build, so I may have to build my own.

  • I'd recommend the Mk808b from the same site.

For $7 more the mk808b is a lot more popular and has multiple official and custom firmware available for download from here:

      I have MK808 & it works great. it's dual core 1.2GB,8GB storage & 1GB RAM.

  • hmm seems reasonable for the price. Got the 809II running stock and it streams 1080p movies perfectly over wifi

    • need good software such as emit or plex

ordered and shipped. Thanx for lead Mady123.

  • Has anyone seen a good one of these that can handle 3D files from an external hard drive? Got a 3D projector but it won't play them in 3D, nor will the 3D Bluray player…

  • Anyone know of a decent one that has rj45 built in? guess as far as capibilities go, you can ensure it has most by installing software EG DLNA via any app you install on it.(so needs to be market certified?)

man why arent these quad core yet?

    • Quad-core are, or are very close to being released. I read an article on on of the tech sites last night. Mashable.com maybe?

          What the?

          wish these things had a rj45 port…

  • Does anyone know what are the available free TV channels on this Android stick such as mk808 or Ditter V12?

My wife like to watch Korean/Asian Drama, just curious if those are also avail on this stick.

Last year I was interested to buy ROKU but then I cancelled because it seems only a few free TV channels available if ROKU is used in Oz.

    Many thanks.
