  • Much courage for me to click on the + vote. GG CoTD.

  • Haha I know everyone stills dislikes COTD for last years Wii, etc stuff up

But this is a very good deal … (and hopefully people vote on the current bargain)
Last time I bought a similar sized HDD through mwave it was around the $100 mark.

Plus I've never had any problems receiving items from COTD.

  • Not detracting form the fact that this is a good deal (i got one),
msy has a HP 160Gb for $85 though i'm not sure if it's this particular model but a $15 saving is a saving (even though i'm still a bit iffy with CoTD)

hopefully it comes be4 valentines XD

    • +1

you are dreaming if it comes b4 valentine Day

  • Yep hopefully it does …
I just hope that the free "Heart Shape Photo Frame" if you use the ILOVEPAYPAL code at the checkout is still valid.

  • I've got my WD elements 160Gb portable from OW a few months ago for only $65, still cannot find anywhere can beat this, so for below $70, this HP is still a bargain !!!

  • +1

uhm the 2.5" 120GB HDD at auspost is $39. So it will be 32 cents for 1 GB. This one is around 43 cents for 1 GB. I am not sure whether hp is better than maxtor. But auspot offer better value for maxtor ~~". It is up to you then.

    • +1

unfortunately those sold out so good luck finding any, my friend's parents own an auspost and they said they're all sold out

      • Yep, there were none at my local Aust Post.

EDIT: Just found 3 x 120GB and 4 x 80GB at another Post Shop. I bought the 3 120GB drives. The Aust Post Shop is at Clifford Gardens, Toowoomba, QLD if anyone wants the 80GB drives for $29 each.

    • AUSPOST IS BS!

Try find me a store that has them in stock in sydney and i'll give u $39 bucks on top of the $39 bucks!

      • auspost is selling the 160gb for $99

      thanks to poster

      • I think stix was only talking about the 120gb and the 80gb drives?

In any case the deal was posted on here a while back, and no complaints whatsoever (apart from stock running out so quickly)

        • +1

If anyone wants one of the 4 80GB drives for $29 from my local Post Shop, I can buy them and ship them to you if you like. Shipping would cost say $10? (It'd end up being 50c per GB whereas this CotD deal is 43c per GB).

          • @ShortyX: Stix, I would be very grateful if you could do that for me (looked at all my Aus Post shops without luck), will pay whatever costs + petrol money required. How can I contact you? Thanks! :)

            • @cyssero: Hey mate - I've just enabled my contact form for my profile…sorry, it wasn't enabled before! Flick me a message and I'll return email with my bank account details. Once the money clears, I'll ship it out to you. If for some reason that they run out of stock, I'll refund your money into your account. They don't have them displayed out the front so they shouldn't sell out - I had to ask and the guy had to get them from out back.

  • anyidea what sort of HD inside ? brand and speed ?

    • Speed isn't particularly important in this case (USB 2.0), but I too would be interested in the brand.

    • I bought one of these last time COTD had them on sale. The HDD inside mine is a Hitachi HDD.

  • Not to say this is not a good deal, just pointing out that it "was" redeemable with the purchase of selected HP printer (the cheapest qualified printer was $115 at the time). Some HP PCs have a docking station (in one of the 5.25 drive bays) so you can plug in the drive instead of using the USB cable.

    • Kind of think about it, the free drive was an 80GB one, not 160GB. So this is pretty good.

I picked up one of these last June http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/5105 for $20 more.
It's a very neat piece of kit, esp' with the soft case.
    [ :- { )

    • haha could you tell us what HDD is inside like you promised in the old bargain you linked?

      • I don't think you could say that I made any cast-iron pledge Dude, but I must admit that I've not cracked the case to see for myself.
Just had a look now and the internals aren't readily accessable; or at least not without leaving obvious signs of "tampering".
Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not willing to open it up while still under the manufacturer's 12 month warranty.
        [ :- { )

        • oh, i didn't see that it had a 1 year warranty, so even if it screws up i can just get HP to fix it instead of going through CoTD. sweet

    • +1

I got one back then too. still going strong

      Great bargain, get one

    • +1

Ditto. Now I'm getting three for my kids.

I missed out on the cheapies being tossed by AusPost - now I'm happy.

      • Ah, hi lostincanberra (OP from last June's CotD deal).
        Thanks again.

        Live Long and Prosper.
        [ :- { )

        • +1

What? Did I put that up? Thanks for the reminder? I'd probably still bite at that price. The zip case makes it nice and durable for tossing into my bag. What the drive loses in sleekness is more than compensated for.

I received my Logitech Wave Pro's today, yay!

    • Dam…my order still says processing…

    • got mine today too.

but order status still indicates "processing". So yours should be delivered already, provided someone was there to sign for it, else you get a card to pickup the item at the nearest PO.

      • I put the work address so should be here soon…

  • I only found these links; it appears to be a standard ATA drive,5400rpm. $89rrp.

How does this compare to the AusPost offers last week(s)?

I am really just interested in retrofitting a bigger 2.5" HD to my Eee 1000H and using the stock HD in the case…

    Thanks!

This is a great deal… already bought one :)

Just wanted to say that i reckon COTD is quite good… yes, apart from the whole xmas bonanza ordeal, i've had no troubles with them.
Always seem to deliver in a decent time frame and if you get the right deal, it sure is a bargain.

And yup, i received my Logitech Wave Pro's today too! Woot!

  • Anyone knows if the drive inside IDE or SATA?

Can use it to upgrade my PS3 if it is SATA…

    • -1

someguy in above posted it was ATA meaning serial ATA SATA!

      • I'm sure this uses a SATA drive,, but ATA can also be Parallel ATA = P-ATA = IDE…
        [ :- { )

  • I just received a email form CotD, told me that orded Logitech Wave Pro just dispatched wia aus post, and let me wait another 3-9 business day to get it.

    damn
    so late!!

    • When i bought a helicopter from there sale i got an email from them saying your item has been dispatched and the next day i received it and it only took about 1 week to arrive from when i payed for it. So from my experience i have had good delivery times and i also live in WA so i would prob experience the biggest delay as they are situated in Brisbane i believe

      • Thanks for your reply, i am living in SA, hoping i will receive it soon.

        cheers

Not even close I'm afraid Rooster…

        [ :- { )

        • oh well still WA is the furthest away and that was my point :)

      • I got my email yesterday at 3:00pm and the keyboard arrived first thing this morning. I wouldn't stress too much, seems like the chances are it will be there soon.

        • They are always a day late in notifying you of despatch. Last time I had signed and was using my item before they sent the email :/

  • I caught it - got a bit scared of the 'almost gone' icon and bought it. Girlfriend wants it for her chockers laptop.

  • i got it one too….

  • Now Sold Out.

Just got my order in it seems.

We are humbled once again, thanks hellrazorone for posting, and community for supporting.

Just have to say - to anyone planning to harvest the hard drive from this unit, I highly doubt you'll be able to do it once you see the enclosure, its pretty sweet - and trust me, I've seen them ALL.

    Stay thrifty,

    QQQ.

  • I received mine in the mail today.

  • Dispatched today :)

  • The HD arrived around noon today. Got a email from COTD at 5pm telling me that "..order dispatched. Please allowed 3-5 days for delivery" ! WTF?
    Anyway, thumb up to COTD.

  • i got mine today ^^ 13th

  • +1

It was available again today for only $49.95 but they seem to have taken it down. Had almost talked myself into buying another one.
