Click and Collect is not like that in all cases.
Last Click and Collect i did.. the order was placed by Big W to the supplier, went to their central warehouse then it was delivered to my store (it was in an aus post box with the store address on it, essentially it was posted to my store savings $5 lol )

  • Star Wars: the complete saga is $59 down from $80

So not half price ( no exceptions) as advertised

    • +1

It increased to $118, then half price. Everything else seems legit half price so far, including some which look more than half price to me.

  • +5

For a sale with no exceptions.. there sure is a lot of exceptions on line :(

    • +6

      No Exceptions*

*except for all the items we pulled and increased in price before the 50% discount.

      • yeah i noticed that… a lot of items are at full price with no savings or have less than 50% saving!
        Poor Form!!

        • +1

it was selling online for $29.50 which is half the half price price

  • +1

    Some good deals still online:

    Jaws 2-Disc $3.99
    Twilight Zone Complete $99

and heaps of others at $7 each
Found a few goodies hidden in the wrong place too which was a find :P

All up spent $280 and saved $322 according to my receipt

  • Awesome Australian pricing! - impressive

  • +1

Just at highpoint at plenty of people here. My impression is that it's a decent sale but generally most individual DVDs/Blu-rays are not much cheaper than a JB sale. Not worth the morning rush to get here. I was already in the area so thought I'd just check it out.

    • -1

I disagree.. i did a comparison last night and most of the movies at their half price beats JB's standard pricing and in a lot of cases their recent 20% off pricing or 2 for $30 deal.

The box sets are the real savings but they almost impossible to get in store.

  • Boardwalk Empire Seasons 1,2 & 3 blu rays for $44 online with free click and collect or $5 delivery. Take that Amazon!

    • It was $22 online. I also missed out before checking out :(

  • Damn, tried online and a few stores for Entourage Bluray but no luck :(

  • Picked up Doctor Who Day of the Doctor 3D Bluray for 13.86, cheers!

    • dang was there but didn't think to look for BBC stuff.
Oh well I'll go watch it once more before it goes off ABC Iview.

  • Got Breaking Bad for $74 and is/was available in store at Canberra Centre this morning.

  • Shoulď have just purchased online. Prices in store were more expensive than online. Now most of the bluray I weanted are now sold out online.

    • There were also some that were cheaper instore. Eg Bourne Quadrilogy, $22 in store (Canberra Centre), while it's $34 online.

  • picked up
    Oblivion $9.98
    Hot Fuzz ~$6.50
    Amazing Spiderman ~$7

I bought iron man 3 for $17 in store yesterday at the supposed sale and today it's even cheaper at $8.50 online??

    • Man of steel 3D
Scanned $13.98 in store and the staff said $13.98 was down from $28.
So I have to showed the staff that $7 in my cart that I added last night so he overrides the price to $7.

I saw a lot of people buying it without knowing they have been overcharged.( some prices are scanned 50% higher in store)

I just received the note from Bigw online that star wars saga price is now $29.50 but removed it from my cart ( because out of stock in store and online)

Please check with your local store for availability but I doubt it
      Have a good day all

      • Bloody hell I got the star wars set for $59 yesterday too!! Should I go back and get them to refund the difference??

        • +2

Star wars is still $59 in store, I feel pissed at the fact I got up early to into BigW only to come home and find everything cheaper online.

        • +1

Same here. There prices in store were more expensive on all the titles I was looking at.

Star Trek into Darkness 2d $9.98 online $4.99
Star Trek SE $7.98 Online $3.99
          Man Of Steel 2D $17 online $6
          Homeland Series 1 $19.95 Online $8.50
          The Newsroom Season 1 $19.95 Online $9.75
          Sparticus 50th $6.48 Online $3.24
          AC/DC: Live At River Plate Blu-ray $24 Online $12.
          Dispicable Me 2 $18 online $9.50

Like most of the ones I looked at were at least double in store than what is shown on-line. Even though there were people walking out with hand fulls of blu-ray.

The online price actually showing the half price of the already discounted prices. Looks that way. Wonder if they will honour these prices for those who ordered on-line if these are not meant to be the correct prices.

        • I looked at the Star Wars box set online this morning, and it was showing $59.
Went to the Hillary's WA store on opening and it scanned at $59 (They have six box sets there), the lady on the counter tells me that all stock went to full price at midnight then reduced down 50%, not her fault, saying that some discs were actually selling higher than yesterdays prices….

On getting home I see that the Star wars box set now says $29.50… but out of stock. Called Hillarys store again, and they tell me that their online does have issues where an item that drops out of stock then shows another 50% off by accident??? That would account for that lower price showing just hours after seeing it on line this morning at $59.

I came away from the store this morning with just one disc:
"The Hole" (3d and 2D disc set) for just $6.48

        • My Big W price matechd online when i went back and showed them the online price.. they did it for my whole invoice.. so i got almost $100 back

    • +2

So online prices are different to in store prices?! What Sorta sale is that?! -_-

    • IM3 scanned at $17 when I checked this morning one of two titles I did scan just to see.

  • Macquarie Park Big W…

Pretty crappy pickings as it seemed like they didn't put everything on their shelf. Was really keen on the doctor who series 1-4 at $24 in store but they didnt have any.

did manage to get a few marvel movies.

  • +2

Thanks OP, got some anime online, if it was in-store only I'm pretty sure the amount of anime on offer would've been zero.

    1 x ef: A Tale of Memories: Season 1 (2 Discs) Blu-ray $19.92
    1 x ef: A Tale of Melodies: Season 2 (2 Discs) Blu-ray $19.92
    1 x K-On! The Movie Blu-ray $14.89
    1 x K-On!! (Season 2) Collection 2 (Eps 14-26 )W/ Limited Collector's Box Blu-ray $27.42
    1 x Mysterious Girlfriend X Blu-ray $27.42

    • Nice pick there!

    • +1

Same here nearly, got ef, Tiger & Bunny, Another, Nisemonogatari, Death Note movies, and Evangelion 1.11
Missed out on Hellsing and Cowboy Bebop by a second though.

      • Yep, was browsing for more titles, had Kokoro Connect + Tiger & Bunny in cart but they soon became unavailable, then hurried and finished ordering with what I had left :)

  • Got titanic limited edition box set for $24 and fast&furious 6 movie set for $39. Still 2 left at parkmore (VIC) at 11am.
    Thanks OP!!

  • Got the Star Wars complete saga boxset at Big W Glenorchy this morning for $59. I got the first of two copies. Disappointed however that I came home and found the sale is also online, and for some reason the SW boxset is marked as $29.50 (although out of stock)

    • +3

i took a screen shot of Big W website and they refunded the difference for me.. on this and many others.. got almost $100 back

      • Just to follow up on this - went back into Big W yesterday at lunch with printouts of jimbobaus's receipt and screen cap of the Big W website from Saturday.

Service Desk seemed unsure, sent me up to the electronics counter, guy there seemed OK with it but must've had some doubt, as he called a manager to come and check… manager was a tight-arse and said no.

Apparently the website uses different stock to the stores and they do different specials etc.

        Looks like jimbobaus got lucky!

  • yay, can also Pre-order Futurama: Season 8 blu-ray for $17.32

  • +1

thankfully the underbelly blu rays are soldout, i get to keep some money!

  • +1

    Online -
Breaking Bad season 5 -$8.50 (Have the rest on blue ray anyway, otherwise would have picked the boxset)
    Django Unchained -$4.99
    Great Gatsby (2013) -$4.75

Add in delivery $5- that's pretty darn good, and I can miss the horror of the stores.

Good prices for Blu-ray in Australia. Well done BigW

  • +2

Guys they seem to have updated the prices online, some titles are even lower now - I suggest get in quick as they are disappearing - many titles now $4

    • +1

i ordered star wars online for 29.50
got email saying price is $59 i can choose refund or accept $59 price
they taking half of the half price price.. they have no idea lol

  • Leave Five-O (2010): Season 3 Blu-ray in the cart then looking something to get over $40 to qualify
For click and collect….then suddenly Five-O was removed from my cart as sold out.
    Well…I can't have everything…..shhhhhhhhhh
    Hurry up guys
The brodens are on the loose again and hunting like the zombies

  • How do you cancel an order?
Some of the blu-ray drop further in price!

    • +1

Looks like they have some price mistakes on applying discounts as according to user "jimbobaus"

"i ordered star wars online for 29.50
got email saying price is $59 i can choose refund or accept $59 price
they taking half of the half price price.. they have no idea lol"

      So don't cancel just yet.

    • Thanks. I tried the phone number but didn't get through.
I will try the online chat…

  • 18 movies and $215 later…geez

  • good luck cancelling an order, tried that a few weeks ago and had to go in pick and then get refund.

  • +3

anyone know how to filter the out of stock titles from displaying?

  • wow, missed out on The Red Shoes which was $1.25, jeez :(

  • Back from shopping expedition. The shops today are cray cray.

    Big W haul:
    Arrow Season 1 $17
    Under The Dome $24
The Walking Dead Season 3 $27
    Dexter Final Season $24
    Rocky Undisputed Collection $25
    Wolverine 3D $19
    Epic 3D $19
    The Croods 3D $19
    Spiderman 1+2+3 $7.98 x 4 (for small gifts)

    Ordered online:
    Star Trek 3D $7
    Man of Steel 3D $7
    Life Of Pi 3D $11
    Finding Nemo $6
    Lion King $8.50

Prices were all over the shop, a lot of titles were cheaper online ie. MOS, some (not many) were cheaper instore ie. Arrow.

    • +1

Those prices that are cheaper online is because those are pricing errors. All those prices you see online that are exactly half of what the in store prices scan at are pricing mistakes. Some body has accidentally doubled up on the 50% off on the online store. I wouldn't want to be the person in charge of the Big W web site responsible for doubling up on the 50% off.

      • If they are price errors they seem to be accepting and processing them. Received email confirmation of early morning order at about 11.30am:

        Hi XXXX,

Full payment of your order has been successfully processed and your Tax invoice is below.

Your order will be sent to our warehouse or supplier for processing. You will receive an email notifying you when your order has been packed and is awaiting dispatch.

Please note that your order will be delivered as per the estimated delivery schedule shown below.

  • Elysium is $8.50 online as a preorder.
Wish I had a look online before I went in store as I would have saved some money and now they are out of stock online.
Any chance that I can get the difference refunded as because of their stuff up I did not order online earlier.

    • Another pricing error. You can be sure you won't get that $8.50 price because it's actually meant to be $17. That price they have online is a stuffup on its own. Just multiple by two whatever the prices are saying online and you get the correct 50% off price. As of right now the only correct 50% off prices are what's scanning for in store.

  • anyone have trouble getting past 'submit your order'?

    • ..and it looks like that's where my order will stay!

      • +1

..and to carry on the conversation with myself a little further. I spoke to a rep on the dog and bone and he said the on-line prices are what they are. To get past the inability to submit my order i tried chrome on his advice - and voilà - all went through to the keeper. he said a few people had this issue with IE or FF.

hope it may help someone as i got some cracking deals.

        • It's not useful (not placing an order) to me but thanks for posting your solution.

  • +2

Wonder when the flood of online order cancellations are going to come through?. Online IT admin has already been informed about the incorrect prices. I guess they'll be working over time tonight cancelling a heap of orders.

    • +1

I just took screen shots from the big W website and my tax invoice from this morning back to Big W in Forrest Hill and they just refunded me $100 … means i ended up paying the following:

      Star Wars Set $29.50
      Avenger 3D: $ 11.00
      Despicable Me $3.98
      Despicable Me 2 $8.50
      This is The end $8.50
And so on…. Seems the managers will price match the online price if u can prove it.. glad i made up a document with What I paid.. and what it is online and took screen shots.. worth the trip back… means i have gotten 75% off most items :P

Thank you Big W and your Glitchy system :)

      • +2

        Wow, you got lucky.

      • +1

        That's the spirit.

        • +3

Seems those Negging my comment are a bit bitter… maybe they not willing to go fight for their discounts

        • Hey do you think you could post a photo of the full receipt? They're willing to honour the refund in price difference if they can see the date and store as well. Thanks.

        • +1

I am happy to send it to u as a pm.
I will do it this evening when im home from work.

        • Send me a PM so i can reply with the screen shots :)

          Cheers
          James

Re the online pricing error. We have been a regular online customer with BigW for some time, and on one occasion last year they had a pricing error on toys that we purchased for the grand kids.
We did receive an email saying that there had been an error with the pricing on our order, but they would be honouring the order anyway. We saved over $100 on that order. (We would not have been interested at the full prices anyway for that order, so we were lucky)
So don't lose all hope if you have placed an order, they may allow it through, especially of you spend a lot with them online anyway.

We popped in to our local store at opening time this morning (WA), after waiting in a line for about 20 minutes for the store doors to open… That was a waste of our morning… and found most items on our wish list were around the same price as JB (in 2 for $20 and $30 etc.), taking in a list of Blu Rays to buy, and picking up just one Blu Ray that was not even on our list, but looked like a decent price.

You know the saying…If something sounds too good to be true….

  • Big W has sold out of all of the Blu-rays i was after. Anyone know if you can get a raincheck at Big W, or a price match else where?

    • Good question I'd been interested in picking up Day of the Doctor 3d if it could be price matched.

      • Is it sold out online?' cause i was able to order it earlier for $13.68

        • Naw but $5 shipping kills me haha that and click and collect 40$ limit is a bummer.

        • oh yeah that kinda does suck lol
when got it i was getting a couple others too.. so yeah click and collect was ok for me

        • +1

You could Click and Collect $40 worth of movies and then return the ones you don't want for a refund. Free shipping….kinda.

        • Haha that would work I'll have to think on it.

  • Well I can't find a Big W email address anywhere looks like I will be sending a snail mail letter to BIg W customer service….

  • +1

Well, all the items in my online order turned into "backorder" status, so it doesn't seem likely I'll get the full order now (or even any items). Just waiting for my cancellation email…

    • We also have an order for several items from online as well (All paid up and payment already cleared).

Just like your order, our has gone from being processed and invoice sent (with a delivery date provided to our local store) and now our order has no current status in status, but when we go into the order itself, every disc now says backordered.

I would assume that the next online order step will be that they will say that non of the discs are available and then to refund status.

Fingers crossed anyway, hope for the best.

      • Same for me…I'm hoping at least some of mine comes through considering some of them are still able to be purchased online now…so really they musn't be 'backordered'…

  • +2

I wouldn't worry too much about the 'backordered' status yet. During the week I ordered NFS Rivals and Super Mario 3D world. Both showed as 'in stock'. Anyway, mine processed, then went to backordered after ordering and they arrived on Friday. Sent from All Interactive. I would say Blu Rays might go through a similar process.

  • Made 2 separate orders this morning and received invoices straight after. Around lunchtime received emails saying payments had been processed and order will be sent soon. Am hoping all is good! Got Seasons 1-3 of Boardwalk Empire Boxset for $22! Fingers crossed.

  • +1

I don't suppose anyone picked up any spare Star Trek TNG blu-ray sets for $13 each? Absolutely bummed I wasn't able to grab any. :(

Still got some good deals so not a total loss…but…TNG bluray!

    • i saw season 3 or 4 in Bunbury BigW

      • +1

Yeah I saw one in Armadale here, but passed at $26, didn't realise they were listed at $13 online

        • Online prices were always half that of the in store prices because the online prices were pricing errors (doubled up on 50% off). The only correct prices were that of in store. Of course Big W would never admit to their stuff up.

I'm just wondering when all the refund emails are going to come through. I thought possibly on monday.

        • I received my receipt today Holly confirming my purchase and the prices. Hope this helps.

        • -1

Receiving a receipt and payment confirmation doesn't mean any thing when they can still cancel the order after that payment confirmation and receipt issued when it's a pricing error. They issue a refund. It's in the Big W T&C. It's not yours until the item has been packed up in a parcel and dispatched. That's when the real ownership confirmation happens.

  • Picked up Black Adder for $30. I haven't seen the show in years.

  • +2

some stuff magically back in stock as of this morning
