Looks very small for a 44 piece set. Almost was wondering if the snap off blades in the retractable razor counted as pieces.

    • +15

Its not the size that counts, Its how you use it.

      • -5

but i thought size does matter in some situations, the bigger the better!

        • +1

          'bigger than bigger'

          -some fruit

        • @mrgeckoz: must be the low hanging fruits

        • @IMBI3: oh yeah.

        Not according to Crocodile Dundee!

counted the pieces in the picture and there are 44 of them.
half of them being the screwdriver bits

    But I want cable ties!

  • +1

dont suppose it has torx as well?

edit- Snoop, you're right it does have torx bits. Serves me right for buying something and not even opening the box!

    • Actually it does. If you look closely at the pic, the 2nd, 3rd & 4th from the right on the top line of bits shows 3 torx bits. Hard to tell by the symbol, but it definitely says T? on them!

      • Some torx screws on laptops are like these, while the ones you can open with these torx bits are like these?
Found out the hard way when I went and bought a tool kit that included 5-6 torx bits for around $5, but ended up getting my mate to buy a single Torx T07 screwdriver for around $15.

        • +1

Yea, normal Torx and secure torx (has the button in the middle)

        • +4

Snoop - your second picture is for Tamper Torx. It's designed to prevent tampering by using a specialized bit type. It will never be included with standard screwdriver sets. You will need a specialized set. If you want to live life on the edge, try getting this set. It costs about $10 for 31 pieces (no cable ties). http://au.element14.com/duratool/d00391/bit-set-security-33p…

          @IMFrugl:

          Snoop - your second picture…

          sanstorm, not Snoop.
Snoop already has plenty of these things all over the place. Usually in places that can't be located when needed. But still, all over the place! :)

        • @IMFrugl: That is a great buy!

Who dare neg me without an explanation?
          Show yourself!

  • Did buy this pre-xmas just to have inside…

  • Those look like the exact same actual tools as the kmart one btw. Bought one of them yesterday and every single piece there looks exactly the same.

    • +1

How can that be considering one has 44 pieces and the other has 165?

      • The actual tools look to be the exact same, this just has less since it doesn't have all the nails/screws/zip ties.

  • 0 Cable ties, but about 15 strange shaped screwdriver bits that you'll never use.

    • +1

Ignore it at your peril - Murphy says you will meet one of those screws in a few weeks, and will no longer be able to just put whatever it is to one side until you find the screwdriver bit "that is around here somewhere"…

      • +1

I brought a 60x piece strange-shape-bit-set from Masters so I could open a computer hard drive, so I'm good. :)

        • Excellent - the last time I opened one, I forgot to put a hanky over my mouth before I blew the dust off the platters. Still, live and learn eh?

        • @terrys:There was dust on your he'd drive platters! :O how did they survive?

  • +1

The $12 Kmart one has a few more useful items: http://i.imgur.com/AXK6V5Q.jpg
Proper ratchet handle with more sockets
    More screwdriver bits (hex/torx)
    Pliers/wire cutters
    Tape measure/spirit level

    • Is this the one on $7 special or a different one?

      • Different one. The $7 one doesn't have too much useful stuff.

    • Hi bxpressiv

Does kmart still have the $12 deal? I am in Vic.

      • Unsure, the prices are Australia wide for clearance so the prices will probably last until stock goes. You'll have to make a phone call or go bargain hunting.

        • Thx, will call local kmart store to check the stock.

        • Didn't see this one at Kmart indooroopilly

    • I just bought the last one at.my local but saw a huge heap of the 28pc set with the tools you just mentioned. Ticket price $28 but scanned at $10

  • no stock at BigW Canberra Civic

  • This just serves to remind you that buying a toolkit based on the number of bits is for amateurs.

    • but we're professionals !

      • +4

        Professional amateurs?

        • +3

          Amateur professionals ;-)

    • What about in the case of my Makita bit set?

Be f'd if I'm going back to the store every few weeks for another PH2, SQ2, etc. bit!

  • This is nothing like the Kmart tools, this only looks to be worth 5 bucks.
Oh and you can fix anything with cable ties :p

    • Why am I picturing an infomercial with not 2, not 3 but 5 cable ties for the amazing low price of $59.95 + $14.95 P&H? But act now and we'll give you not 1 set of 5, but 2 sets for an extra $1. First 100 callers only!

I thought the mantra was "If it moves and it shouldn't; Gaff tape. If it doesn't move and it should; WD-40"?
I'm willing to accept cable ties as an interim solution to Gaff until someone posts a bargain.

  • +1

    Disposable tools.. nice.

  • out of 102 +s…how many bought? and how many ended up in the bin already…lolz.
well to be fair, good price tho.
looks more decent than the $10 toolset from bunnings, 0 cable ties

  • Real tools are cheaper than toy ones.
