Err… Why does the extended warranty cost $16 to 'deliver'?

    • -1

Try adding the warranty with the original price ($111) then postage is free - go figure…

      • +2

        Hi Guys,

This is fixed - 89 and free delivery. When we dropped pricing the system added freight. Not intentional.

  • How long will this be on offer for?

    • Check the expiry date…

      19/10/2011 (6 days left)

      • Fair enough, although they're rarely reliable, and often it's only as long as stock lasts. So it'd be nice to have confirmation from the rep.

        • They are still here for now. :)

    • nice but at 1366 x 768 I'd rather it came in 13" or less

      • +1

bit hard to fit a quad core i7 into a 13 inch body! you'd burn your lap off! :)

        • +1

          Not to mention the 6770m…

  • Great deal, id have bought this if it was available a few weeks ago. The GPU is the kicker here.

  • the picture is of a probook not dv6 series but anyways it's definitely a good deal nonetheless. i7, 6770M, 8gb and bluray for less than $900 delivered

  • +2

I'd consider it if it had a reaosnable screen… 1366x768 is far from ideal - especially when it has BluRay capability!

    • +6

Why do ppl insist on such a high resolution screen on a 15 inch?

I have a Full HD panel on my 15.6 inch laptop and I personally regret it. I find that Icons and words are too small on the native resolution . The only solution is to up the DPI under windows settings which solves the problem. But then again alot of games and some apps dont work with the 150% increase DPI and you have to disable it manually under the programs properties and even then some components of the program will not have this setting disabled rendering Text to be blurry

I reckon 1600x900 should be the max ress on a 15inch

Just my 2 Cents of course

      • As a developer, I use a screen resolution of 1680x1050 which is about right for 15" and reading text at normal height - however even I'm looking for 1920x1080 to see more "stuff" on the screen. I certainly could not downgrade my resolution (even 1600x900 would mean I lose 16% of my screen's height).

You can always "lower" the resolution on a higher laptop, increase DPI (as you've stated) on a high-res screen but you can't increase the resolution on a low-end screen.

For alot of people, 1366 x 768 is quite fine. I'd certainly hate to go back to the days of when I had 1024x768 with 3/4's of my screen full of toolbars.

        • +2

I'm also a developer, and personally I prefer 1366x768 for a resolution for 15". To me the dot pitch is exactly what I'd want. Whilst you can lower the resolution if it's higher, it does blur it and certainly you can't say it looks as good as having that as the native res.

take your 880 and buy a desktop and good monitor geez

Why only 10/100 network port? (no 1000?!?)

Why such a slow hard drive? (why not 7200?)

When was this laptop released to market?

    • If anyone wants an SSD for this laptop - let me know ill post one at the best price and probably free shipping.

      • I would be. You working tommorrow mate?

      • Ummm. I don't know much about SSD for laptops, but would it be an add-on component or will it replace the 640gb hdd?

        • -1

          to replace the current 640GB

    • not Gigabit ethernet?
      only 10/100?

      • Yeah, according to HP's specs it's only 10/100. Not a big deal for me as I usually just use wifi-n and I've only got a 10/100 router anyway.

  • +3

    Hi Guys,

Apologies, the warranty freight is now 0. Slight system glitch when we reduced the price.

This is valid for 6 days, but the stock may not last - first in best dressed. Sales for us are already in double figures…

    • Just ordered one. Thanks for fixing up the warranty freight :)

how to get the extended warranty for free?

  • +2

How much would it be with a 7200RPM drive?

  • how long will it take to deliver? i'm in sydney CBD

    • +1

      Generally within 48 hours.

      • just wondering, why is it selling for so cheap?

        • +1

Not sure what drives HP to do what it does sometimes, but they are brand new items direct from the biggest HP distributor in Australia - so just enjoy :)

  • Any chance of getting free shipping on a Corsair Force Series 3 120 SSD. with this deal?

  • Damm. I thought, its a probook as in the picture.

  • How does this compare to JB's deal on the HP?

    little bigger HDD, usb 3.0 x 2, slightly better GPU….worth the $100???

    • If thats the case, for future growth. yeah worth the 100$. if you upgrade frequently, not worth it.

    • +1

It's also double the RAM and has BluRay. IMO that's easily worth $100 more.

i like you too. how about some tea?

    • Thank you!
      sold

  • Grrr, damn… would have been only $100 more than the DV6-6135TX that I got from HN for $805 the other week, and has 4GB more ram, bluray and an extra GB 6770…. ah well :(

    • refund? :P

    • Does the extra GB make much difference?

      • +2

Not really. The 6770M isn't really powerful enough to make use of more than 1GB of RAM.

  • with the purchase on extra warranty cover:

    = TOTAL 2 years warranty?
    or
    = TOTAL 3 years warranty?

    • You're purchasing an extra 2 years, so it's 3 years total.

  • hey i just bought one, can i get a free bag with it? lol

This is much more powerful than my $1000 laptop that i bought nearly 2yrs ago XD …. only if i have patient.

    • In the last 2 years, would you be using something else?

      • no lol i couldn't bear with my HP 7yrs old any more XD, i fix it so many time, then one day the connector on the motherboard that let's the re-charger connects to the laptop get uber loose ( i wield it numerous time) plus the cheap battery i bought from HongKong doesn't helps either.
So, no i couldn't not use anything other PC than my 2yrs laptop ( hope this will last me another 7yrs XD )

Don't ever ever EVER buy from these clowns.. You're acting as their bank, as in, you buy something from them which they claim as in stock.. then they order it in from the money that you've paid to them.. I'm still waiting on a refund from months ago, and a mate bought 3 x 3tb drives from them.. and get this.. they arrived in an overnight satchet wrapped in a few flimsy rounds of bubblewrap.. a few of the drives now have SMART errors..

And if you're still wondering.. they're a site sponsor for OCAU, which OCAU has now had to close the thread due to numerous complaints..

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1691430

So don't be surprised if you order something, it takes weeks/months and then they go bust with no sign of your money..

This is how the manager replies to his emails…

"You are welcome to take this further, but due to having dealt with similar cases before, we are very confident on the outcome and if the matter was to make it to a tribunal, we will be seeking costs.

    Regards,

    Sam Corrie
    Operations Manager"

      Have a great weekend.

      • pickup available for us in brisbane?

        • If you'd like, but given we're doing free shipping don't see much point.

  • I'd like a 160G SSD with this deal, can you help MegaBuy?

    • Hi Steve,

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55055

      • damn…. oh well too late

      • -2

Sorry, can't do much when someone's decided to sell below cost.

        • Are you saying you get a profit of <$30 per unit sold?

        • -1

That's how it is in IT, and even then people want you selling at lower prices.

        • Sound a little bitter that they're selling < 'cost' :)

Hardly warrants a neg. if the lower price wasn't available when this was first listed.

      • -2

This is a competition war, survival is for the cheapest – MegaBuy has deserved it until a cheaper offer emerged, they can make me look silly by beating the newer cheaper price, so easy … it’s up to them!

        • -2

          Agreed! survival for the cheapest!

        • You ever been in business?

        • -1

We do have our own costs as well…

    • look at the dates. you get more neg's for your post because you don't think.

  • -2

this one got 3 year warranty

    • -1

i have no idea what to do….
