CatchOfTheDay Birthday Bash, $150,000 Worth of Freebies with 1 Cent Shipping!
Moved to Forum: Original Link
Love it or Hate it!
This time, at least they are letting us know the quantity of the items!
Quote from their website:
We couldn't have done it without you, so on our sixth birthday we didn't want to celebrate with anyone except YOU. How are we going to celebrate together? Free stuff! Why not? Everyone loves something free, and when its time to celebrate nothing beats a giveaway. Here’s the rundown:
- We'll be giving away $150,000 worth of goods for 12 hours, with one item featured every 10 minutes, one freebie every 10 minutes means a total of 72 giveaway opportunities
- Every item will have different quantities in stock, you can see the stock availability for each item below (scroll down!)
- Just pay 1 cent shipping (this is a system restriction - relax scrooge!)
- The party starts at a mystery time on Wednesday 31st October, the starting time will be announced on email, Facebook and twitter so make sure you subscribe / like / follow us below, or you'll miss the beginning.
PS: I probably shouldn't have to post this deal as it would mean more competition from fellow ozbargainers!
mod - Note: they will be requiring you to agree to receive emails from them, daily, before they will let you onto the site, today

That means YOU must give them one iPad if you click 'add to cart'.

+1 voteSeriously screw these guys. This isn't a bargain, there aren't enough items for even 10 people to get something, and then guaranted the website won't work.
Also their so called bargains can usually be found for the same price or cheaper on ebay or any other online retailer.
+3 votesAlso, you gotta love the way they treat their customers:
"relax scrooge" (originally said "relax, you miser")
"don't be surprised if you walk away with nothing or experience website crashes/congestion"
"if that type of thing bothers you, its best to avoid the party altogether"

+3 votesIs it really worth the frustration since from the stock level it seems there is no chance other than their own employees sitting on the same local area network.
Perhaps the better solution, if they really want participation, is to do a lottery to choose the winner from the submitted email addresses, but that wouldn't earn COTD its reputation, would it ?

Ok, so it probably doesn't make you feel any better at all, but rest assured that we're doing whatever we can to get you on the site. Try again in a minute or so, but in the meantime, how about subscribing to our free newsletter - it notifies you of every Catch we feature, plus special deals only available to our subscribers! You'll never miss a bargain again!
WTF????

automated program from client side wont help much. it's their server which can't handle the load, (if it's true, anybody can fake overload only by displaying "Uh oh page")
but there's a way, hijacking routers connecting to COTD, then re-route or drop all data packet except yours. hahaha…

Then the problem is it wont add it to your cart as it times out when you do a quick check out.
I managed to get a lego in my cart, went to check out then stupid site logs me out.
Im out.
COTD is back on my 5HIT list

NBN users are getting all the good stuff…

Let the neg fest begin. COTD is hated around here with these specials that last 10 seconds. possibly better to have this in the forum.
