[PRICE ERROR] Asus Eee Slate Ep121 Windows 7 Tablet - $122 Harvey Norman
Moved to Forum: Original Link
Found this whilst browsing the site. It seems a lot cheaper than all other retailers so it seems like a good deal.

halfaznpersuasion on 26/12/2012 - 13:44 ¶Very weird although I'm still not expecting to get one , I actually screenshot the convo lol
+1 voteHope you get them.
My experience with Harvey Norman was quite unpleasant: they told me what I wanted to hear on the phone (Yes, we have them in stock and we will hold one for you)… but by the time I arrived (30 minutes later)… they told me they sold the item. Not this tablet, but you get the idea on how "honest" HVN can be.
Love to be proven wrong on this and would be happy if people who managed to order online get the tablet(s).

I was chatting with a HN online support rep the other day about wanting more info on a product and I gave him a temporary spam email that was generated with the name 'Rick Ross' in it (apparently the name of a semi-famous rapper) and then after that the support rep lost all of his professionalism and started abbreviating his words and said something like "u'll get a reply l8a 2day or 2moro probz" then started chatting to me about rappers and made a couple of fat slob jokes about this Rick Ross guy.

+2 votesAll orders will be subject (when you press the "Order" button") to their TOS.
Their TOS will enable them to cancel an order for whatever reason (eg error).
So if you didn't get an email confirmation then you have no chance. Their acceptance of your order was always subject to the TOS, which they will use to cancel it.
HOWEVER, if you did get the confirmation email, it doesn't refer to their TOS at all. You could then argue that this is them saying we've accepted your order (on a final basis). The email doesn't contain a link to the TOS or refer to them either.
There needs to be a point at which they can no longer keep you on the hook about whether they will cancel your order or not.
pmsoverload on 26/12/2012 - 12:22 ¶I tried to chase up the status of the order with the live chat staff and my experience was the opposite. He asked me if it was an online order, to which I replied yes, then straight away said he can't help me, to call customer service and closed the chat abruptly.
I understand that the mistake made by a single staff member or the system should not mean the entire company should suffer (no matter how we might feel towards said company), but it was so worth taking the chance it might have been clearance, or honored for a lucky few. I just hope they don't stall the refunds for myself and those who have already handed over the money.
Has anyone had any luck organising a paypal refund through these guys yet?
+14 votesI ordered 350 of these, maxed out one of 3 of my credit cards. Big Harvey Norman truck that usually does furniture deliveries just unloaded the pallets and rolled it to my front door. I'll post links to the Ebay listing shortly, I'll start bidding at $700 as an Ozbargain special, save 50% off RRP.

BloodSail Admiral on 26/12/2012 - 13:44 ¶We should learn a lesson from this deal. We used our time and energy for nothing. The truth is they played with us and unfortunately HV is the winner in this game.
ownage input on 26/12/2012 - 20:17 ¶Is that you Gerry?
Every comment you have made has be in support of HN, fair enough if we have no legal leg to stand on but we have the right to be pissed that there is no protection for the consumer against this. I am pissed that's for sure but not because I don't have the tablet it is mostly to do with the amount of time they will probably drag this out for.
Guaranteed if things had of went the other way and Gerry came good on this deal and you were one of the lucky ones to get in on this you wouldn't be so butthurt.

Me buthurt? lol this thread is full of whiners complaining they cant get their obvious pricing error product. This has no effect on me at all. Complaining that someone is getting their few cents of interest? bloddy hell…
The consumer has protection, they are entitled to a refund. I dont care who the retailer is, mistakes happen, a company can not be made to sell if they do not want to.
I am not supporting Harvey Norman. I very rarely shop there, if you check my history you will see i have often given people instruction on how to get their way there by dealing with head office. I run a small business myself, if a simple mistake meant i had to ship thousands of orders at a $700 loss what do you think is going to happen to my business.

Why are you throwing direct accusations at Duff5000?
His comment is true - no one wins from a pricing error, especially not HN. The mistake likely made by a single individual will result in large additional staffing costs and processing costs, which will greatly outweigh any minute interest they gain from keeping your money.
Not to mention bad publicity, and the cost of implementing internal checks and balances to ensure this doesn't happen again (assuming they do this).

The eCommerce Agency Pty Ltd (trading as Harvey Norman Online), an independent franchisee, will receive your order and payment via the website. If your order is accepted, Harvey Norman Online will sell and arrange for delivery of the products to you in accordance with the terms and conditions published on the website.
Notice the "will sell", in other words it hasn't been sold to you yet; the confirmation email just says "we got your offer, If we accept it, then it's a sale".
This is no different from an accidentally mispriced sticker in a shop; the shop is not obliged to sell it to you at that price, it's only an "invitation to treat". Although if it's not a genuine misprice they could be pulled up for misleading.
Now I'm not so sure about what happens if they have taken Paypal payment. However there are cases such as Skype where they put a hold on $1 to check that your account is valid, but don't actually take the money. This may be the situation here.
greenpossum on 26/12/2012 - 15:05 ¶Haha, really juvenile of you neggers to neg me for telling you things you don't want to hear. But pay no attention to me, go ask a lawyer. Don't hold your breath though, you can be sure that businesses have checked the rules for just this type of situation and that if they do honour the offer it's out of goodwill. This was the case for one thing that I bought a while back and I respect the store (not HN) for that.

greenpossum on 26/12/2012 - 18:19 ¶You still don't win, it's almost certainly in the overall T&C for HN online sales which you agreed to when you clicked.
+1 voteI got my confirmation email from Harvey Norman. They make the offer, accept the deal and take payment from me and then try not to send me my items saying they made a pricing mistake.. No way!!, thats why we have fair trading, ill lodge a complain, whose with me!!!
+2 votesBoomeraang on 26/12/2012 - 14:56 ¶Exactly. Why would you ask if the deal isn't a pricing error? That doesn't make sense to me.
+1 voteBoomeraang on 26/12/2012 - 15:01 ¶Again, only the first few people who were able to "buy" the product got a confirmation email. Everyone else wasn't sent one.
Not that it makes any difference, because they aren't intending on honoring it. Typical Gerry, tbh.
moonlite51 on 26/12/2012 - 15:16 ¶Does anyone know how ppl get HN to approve the $699 pricing error that happened to Nokia Lumia 920 pre-order?
i agree with previous poster that said since this is an old model we're helping them get rid of old stock :p
Can anybody help me out here, i bought this last night and payed via PayPal but i didn't have a Harvey Norman account set up, still went through and put all my details in and purchased it successfully. Got my email from PayPal showing the receipt with Order ID and all that. I've received no email from HV directly with an invoice, Paypal statement shows paid and cleared i haven't had any money taken out of my bank account yet. Somebody shed some light?

Just called the number on the cancellation e-mail I got. I have been told all the orders will be cancelled regardless of getting a order confirmation e-mail or not, as that e-mail is sent out automatically (still they prevented it from going out at some stage). I also paid with paypal linked to my credit card and I can see my credit funds available has been decreased. I have been told they don't take the money straight away when the order is confirmed, first they only send authorization (meaning they hang onto your limit). I suppose they actually take the money only when the items are shipped.
+6 votesAlso have been told they will refund it tomorrow which will take 24 hours for processing. Most people don't know that they don't get charged instantly when an order is received. It is only a blockage on your account. Then it is usually charged when shipped. This is done so that refunding in these kind of situations occurs easier. It costs them to refund you if the payment is actually charged (credit card companies such as visa, mastercard, etc. charge them for refunds from completed payments). But if it is only an authorisation (blockage), they don't get charged for refunds.
This means they don't actually earn interest from our money.
Negative from me for posting a clear pricing error deal. There is nothing suggesting it was a remotely plausible deal, unless you're completely oblivious to the worth of any kind of new laptop (let-alone a tablet). After all (apart from Dick Smith's G27 Steering Wheels which were honoured - I'll eat my hat over that one), this is a Bargain site, not MightBeAPricingError site.

The fact is I thought it was just another HP Touchpad firesales to clear all old discontinued stocks. Would never think it could be a pricing error given the fact they could put it up on a testing site before making them available on their official site. Whatever the intention is behind this so called pricing error that I doubt it is an honest mistake.
+5 voteshighdealer on 26/12/2012 - 17:26 ¶what a stupid comment. The fact that this is an old model(and not that popular either) and they are trying to clear stock is perfectly good reason to believe that this could be a genuine price.
+1 voteWow! No need to get personal. You've been around long enough to see the scale of pricing errors to know this sort of thing goes on! (You even preclude to this yourself in this deal), This isn't some cheap retailer. This IS Harvey Norman. When was the last time you saw a mediocre laptop specification (usual RRP above $1,000) at Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, The Good Guys etc… under $200? If Harvey Norman was to have this as a legitimate price drop, I can categorically guarantee it would be promoted somewhere else other than just some buried link at 1:00AM in the morning.

Honestly, think about the losses HN would have to absorb just to honour this pricing error. It is astronomical (posted earlier). Around $500k. And there is unlikely to be repeat business from you guys because of it either.
