recieved unsealed phone from them and must pay postage, their previous shipping cost and a fee if you want to return the suspuciou unsealed phone. So just be careful, U M is not a reputed seller.

just one question, do you think a unsealed, illegally unlocked phone with refrashed firmware is the same as a factory sealed one?

        • Rep - i think better you put in OP that its unsealed phone if you are indeed selling unsealed but new phone.

        • Honestly, we all want a sealed phone, why would you go though all the trouble to open the box and flash the firmware to make us return them? it doesnt make any sense.

        • +1. If we're buying from a store, it should be obligatory for sellers to declare whether they've broken the factory seal. The blurb from the Rep below about breaking seals for random check doesn't cut it.
Its more likely they do this to reflash firmware, break limitation/locks etc. That's fine, but you need to say its unsealed.

Read the Negs on this thread about them unsealing phones
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96611

Here's other Uniquemobiles threads with significant amount of Neg votes, quite a number due to their pricing.

I don't know why you needed to post those links as the prices in this deal are pretty good.

Based on the comments so far, breaking the manufacturer's seal to save postage on posting the adapter separately isn't worth it. It's ruining their reputation. It does make you wonder if they are doing more than just putting the adapter in.

        • I was reading up the company's past deals ozB, thought i'd share people's comments. I wasn't specifically comparing the prices of phones listed here versus its past pricing.

What makes you think it's 'ILLEGALLY' unlocked? It's not ILLEGAL to unlock phone in Australia.

      • I just want to add to the concerns voiced here. I recently bought a phone from UM and was particularly vigilant against the possibility of an unsealed phone - so I was suspicious when I noticed there what seemed to be faint seal under the 'unopened' seal. Upon peeling back the seal, I noticed the "real" seal underneath was actually opened already. To verify my suspicions, the battery cover wasn't properly snapped onto the phone, and the packaging of the battery was scuffed and clearly previously opened before.

Whilst I'm reasonably happy the phone is 'new', since the IMEI sticker on the box match the IMEI on the phone, and the screen protector was untampered with, it worries me what great lengths UM goes to to conceal the fact they have opened the phone, and why it is necessary - I suspect to unlock the phone and flash "factory" ROMs onto it.

I don't plan to return it, but just as information to prospective buyers who would find this unacceptable - don't buy from them. I probably wouldn't buy from them again either.

  • 920 price is low from recollection

  • good to see some decent mobiles dropping in prices….
now it doesnt hurt the pocket too much when buying a good phone.

Rep, how long will shipping take, and where do you ship from?

    • Disregard…. Hong Kong, 4 days express… not too bad!
      Bought an S3 4G… thanks :-).

  • was it just me that looked at the other 5 items that did not have "cheapest price online" on them, and wonder where ?
S3 4G Looks to be $30 cheaper than Kogan

    • It is $20 difference than Kogan (409 + 19) … but Kogan has all colors available at that price …

      • It has grey, white, and black of the same model; not all the colors.

  • No HTC ONE? Will you be selling these anytime soon?

  • Anyone have thoughts on the Samsung Grand Duos (DS82A18)? The S Duos I am using now is terrible due to the touchscreen.

    • -2

MobiCity have this model for $369. The Telstra 850mHz is $439. Fairly low screen resolution which is a shame. I am thinking of buying this as well as I returned my S Duos because it was just so glitchy. I am wary of getting another "budget" Samsung.

  • Was interested in the HTC One X but it is only 16GB……probably only about 12GB user accessible, not enough to store all my music and videos :(

    • Just get the S3.

      • You are right, so I did get the S3 (not from UM). Now have to sell my S2….

    • What a weak argument. 1TB isn't enough to store all my music and videos. That's not what my phone storage is for.

This looks like an amazing price for the S3 4G. Only question: If there's any warranty issues/need to return, where would we have to ship it? Australia or HK?

    • My friend just emailed them today regarding warranty his Note 2 dying from the "sudden death syndrome." I'm interest to see how they handle warranty claims.

  • So it looks like there is something unique about UM in price and quality.

    Definitely a pass for me.

  • Last time it got posted here, ordered a grey 4G SGS3, 5 days later they put it on back order. Cancelled the order and ended up buying Xperia Z from T life.

  • almost order it, but read the post pause my excitement. awaiting KOGAN KOGAN KOGAN match its price S3Lte

  • $18 shipping not mentioned in title, surely this rep knows better than that by now. With shipping included it is hardly cheaper than kogan.

In fact, the Nexus 10 in this deal is $7 dearer than Kogan including both site's shipping.
